Hey all,

So i've been trying to arrange for samples from many of the numerous companies marketing these devices. I think they are scared to send any. We know the cost on these, from the source, is very low. Cheap advertising would be a possibility if anything was worth while.

This is my take. Every manufacturer knows that the products aren't all that great, so having immediate bad publicity could hurt them. I understand this. It's a business thing. I also understand that if any company does have a great product, they would be able to gain additional traction in the market place if people are singing their praises. If they have a good product, then they should push the crap out of it so people have them in their hands.

I know it sounds like a call out, well it pretty much is. After being genuinely dissatisfied with many of my products(not all of them), just seems like most of these companies don't care. Great service, is still just service. A great product however, that's a whole different matter. Think we are all looking for both in a nice shiny package.

That's my take. Anyone else care to comment?

Dude, no offense intended, but you've done a couple video reviews on a public forum, and you're asking for free review copies? Maybe if you had your own blog, with proven hit counts and click through, or had a column, or whatever. Then you'd have some credibility. As is, I wouldn't give you a freebie either. There are plenty of people who have posted reviews, should they give them all freebies? You sound like a rat scrounging for free cheese. ;)

Again, no offense. Your reviews were good, and I sure found them helpful in deciding to buy from Mel. But what you're asking for is unrealistic, or at least premature.

Oh, and one more thing. I don't think you meant to come off as antagonistic, but ths post could sure be taken that way. And it remonds me of something the Crown7 guy, Ron, wrote back when that troll posted a false review. He said someone claiming to be from this board had asked him for a review sample, and might have made that post as retaliation for Ron saying no. That sort of thing, is another good reason a business might shy away from an unknown reviewer.

TB, couldn't agree more.. Did you have to buy the first car you reviewed? how about the 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc... i know you get what i am saying.

One more thing,

I have no problem buying e-cigs, and would have no problem even if they would cut a little bit of a break because it is potentially for advertising on their end. there are plenty that i would probably never buy on my own just for the hell of it, but as a review the field has to open up dramatically. One manufacturer in paticular offered me a review piece at 10% above MSRP. That i laugh at.

just an FYI, with my vids on Myspace, i've gotten 661 views for the first e-cig vid, 221 for the second, and 77 for the most recent. Once i compile everything into one place i think the numbers will keep coming.

I think the companies are scared, but if they plan on being successful, they'd better get used to it. If this e-cig thing catches on, more and more people are going to be looking to buy the devices. At the prices they're currently asking for the things, people are going to start looking around for other people's opinions. Sooner or later, review sites are going to start popping up, and then it won't matter how scared the companies are, they'll be getting publicity based on the quality of their products and services whether they like it or not.

So, they either need to buck up and deal with it, or they need figure out how to make their products cheap enough that people wouldn't even bother looking for reviews.
