Alright this is going to be my first time doing DIY and im super stoked about it. The one thing about vaping that bugs me is the price of eliq. Especially when i spend money on something that tastes like a wet dog... Anyways im getting all my supplies from WL and i think flavors from capellas. Originally i wanted to do str8v8ping strawberry cheesecake but im starting to think this might be too much for a first time diy'r. I think i might just start off with single flavors until i get the hang of things. So that being said what do you guys think about the flavors on WL site? I know that capellas flavors are some of the best to work with but for a beginner could i do just as well with the flavors from WL?

I am in your boat as well. I decided to try diy for the savings factor. I've been ordering supplies for a few days now, but reading and researching for weeks. Here's what I learned about WL flavorings. Most, but not all, are TPA/TFA (permuner's/flavor apprntc.). If you click on each flavor that interests you on the WL site, above the flavors description, it clearly states who that flavor is mfg'er by.

I also, like you, will be attempting mostly single flavors (or a fruit and cream) just to get my feet wet. And I also want to get my hands on some Capella's. But not until some sales happen somewhere.

Here's how I approached it. Earlier in the week I made sure to sign up for accounts at ALL the sites that sell DIY supplies. Also make sure you are signed up for email notifications from all those sites - including Capella's own site, as well as the usual players (High Desert, OSDIYS, Ecigexpress, Vapingzone... etc.). Then I waited for Labor Day sales notifications to hit. VZ was the first so far, they are running 20% off flavors for Labor Day. I ordered about 5 fruit concentrates to play with based on reviews I read on the "super concentrated" threads here (Both threads, and boy are they long!!).

Then I ordered a few from WL along with my nic base (all TPA flavors) to round out what I didn't get from VZ.

So far no sales for capella's or any capella's carrying sites as far as I know. However, I do have enough to experiment with until the next major holiday(s) roll around. Then I will load up on Capella's and FlavourArt that I didn't get this round. But I still have my fingers crossed that there will be sales tomorrow.

The "baking and candy-making" season is soon around the corner. From reading older threads while researching flavors, I know last Christmas Capella's had a 6 bottle/$20 sale!!

So, get on those mailing lists, and take advantage of the upcoming seasons! Make your flavor want-list by priority, and get a little at a time! Best of luck to both of us!!

Great, I use quite a bit of TPA/TFA stuff and like it.

Could, yes, but you really increase your odds of a great mix right off the bat with Cap's.

Okay since it's been brought up, I hope it's okay to hijack the thread for just a sec... What makes Capella's so much better?

Easy, I only know of 2 Cap flavors that will go to level 7 and 8. That linear response to % is really helpful for a new mixer to get a feel for mixing without the confusing reverse logic of 7&8 thrown in.

I have started DIY purely for the costs. I can pay 0.50$/mL+ from a vendor premix, plus shipping; or I can pay ~0.13-0.14 for DIY. I didn't even get the big big bulk bottles, which'd drop it to ~0.10. Yep, 15$/30ml or 4$/30ml. No more shipping, and I get to learn new things. Easy choice to make. I only waited so long because I wanted to read as much as I could here before doing something stupid.

You should just jump in and start trying your own, along with trying out single flavours. It'll give you an idea of how different flavours interact and working out %'s (rather than identical ratios) for the next batch. Even the single flavours I made needed a little adjustment after. My first "experimental", while not good, wasn't horrid, but my wife seems to like it just dandy. Luckily I can vape just about anything, so even if it's not great, it will be used.

I'm looking forward to the morning I come down to my office, fire up the atty, and discover I have made something truly fantastic. I won't get that from buying a mix.

I have no idea what this means. Would you mind explaining level 7 & 8? reverse logic?
I heard you had a good blog on mixing but have been unable to find it. Would you share a link? :)
Thanks!

Here's you a great deal for Capella's flavors. 5 Flavor Super Deal for 19.95 Plus, they have a 10% discount if your order is over $20 and a special $2 deal on shipping. Can't beat that with a stick!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I searched the site after reading about it here but could not find it. I just assumed the 5 bottle deal was over. I didn't want to do the 10% off only if that was the best offer they had right now. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your sharing this! Ordering now :p

Hope the OP takes advantage of this as well!

Underneath that picture of me is a line that says, "Blog Entries:3", just click that 3 under my avatar.

A MUST read for hopeful and struggling DIYers!

I 'jumped' into DIY with one foot. Bought all I needed and started mixing. I like extra flavor, so all was meticulously blended at 20% with expectations of raising that value. WHT, where's da flav?

Well, I found Hoosier's blog and got my other foot 'wet'. Now here I sit with two wet feet, vaping my fanny off with 'bout six flavs that are in my daily vaping arsenal!

Somewhere out there
DIY is fun, cheaper, and it is great to make your own fabulous juices! I have used Flavor West, TPA, Capella's, DIY flavor shack, Flavour Art from Italy and they all have good flavors. So try a bit from everywhere. I have some natural organic coming as well to try.

I also advise making simple one flavor juices that can experiment with. You will always need the basics on hand anyway. Have fun! brnk
