Greetings; This morning I've been using my Gus (older version) with an 18650 Efest and a Smoktech Kick set at 8 watts, and with a Cobra (1.8 oHm coil). it's the first time I've tried this combo of hardware, and the vape is fantastic, but the battery tube feels warm...is this normal when using a ST Kick?

One of the downsides of the older Gus is that it will fire sometimes when I put the mod down, standing straight up, without using the locking ring. I've had this happen a couple times, so I know what 'way too hot' feels like (I now use the locking ring whenever I put the mod down).

Has anyone had a similar experience with the ST Kick? Is any level of warmth too warm when it comes to mod batteries?

I think I can answer my own question...the tube only warms up while in use. If I let it sit for a few minutes, it cools down again.

I guess the ST Kick, while i'm vaping, is what's raising the temperature slightly. Took me awhile to figure this out -- vaping on a genny with a Kick is do darn good, I was chain vaping and found it hard to put down most of the morning. :D

I've vaped close to 5 Mgs just at work today -- that's more than I normally vape in an entire day.

At 8 watts & 1.8Ω resistance, you're only asking for a bit over 2 amps & around 3.7 volts.

Just out of curiosity, temporarily remove the Kick. Unregulated, and the battery at 3.7v'ish... you should be using around 7.6 watts, so the vape should be quite similar. With a fresh battery, at 4.2v, the wattage will be near 10, with a negligible increase in amperage.
