The output voltage is determined by the charge in the battery 3.7-4.2v and the resistance is determined by the coil that you build.

Thank you. So by choosing the material used to build the coil, the resistance is fixed. And the voltage could be only measured by a voltmeter. Is that correct?

Yes the resistance is fixed and depends on the wire gauge, number or wraps and the diameter and yes the voltage of the battery can be measured using a voltmeter (4.2v fully charged, 3.7v almost drained). However after a while you will know when the battery needs changing.

Is there any MOD you would suggest for first time MOD user?

Thanks
Stay away from stuff like the 4nine, the hybrid connector could short out the mod unless you're careful. I've been happy with Stingrays (clones), and the Stingray X is supposed to be really good (pay attention if you use the hybrid top cap), but it's pretty much up to your tastes. Just make sure that you read up on battery safety, get good high drain safe chemistry batteries and charger (from a reputable vendor, not Ebay), get a good multimeter or ohm meter and always measure the resistance of your coils before you use them (and see to it that your amp draw doesn't exceed the max continuous rating of your batteries), make sure you don't overdrain your batteries (measure them regularly with a multimeter, at least until you learn to recognize the charge level of the battery by the vapour production. I think that's all, for now :)

Hello,

How would the output voltage and resistance of the coil are being determined in mechanical mods?

Thanks

The output voltage of a mechanical mod is just whatever the voltage of the battery happens to be at the time.
The battery voltage would be around 3.7 volts.

Unless you put a dropin kick module in the mod to regulate the voltage and keep it constant.

The resistance of the coil in the atomizer depends on what coil you put there.

Would a box mod like the Sigelei 100w be safer?

The Sigelei 100w is a regulated mod, not a mechanical mod.
Yes, it is less unsafe that using a mechanical mod.

Regulated mods have built in safety features such as short circuit protection.

You still have to make sure to use the proper battery for high power. vtc5

OK. In general, with a right battery, proper care with charging, discharging and with well constructed coil , a mechanical mod is not unsafe. Can I understand this way?

I would strongly suggest sticking with a VV/VW mod at this time. I totally understand you wanting to get into mechanicals but I suggest you spend some more time on what you will gain/ lose from a mechanical

Mechanicals are beautiful but come with a host of cons for newer users. The primary being safety and getting poor quality (knock off) batteries could pose harm. Spend some more time with rebuildables before getting into mechanicals.

VV/VW devices are more forgiving and allow you to (more safely) try different builds.

Best of luck.
