I doubt it the mini batteries won't handle sub ohm anyways. At best you'd be getting slightly better battery life but it would just encourage people to try and sub ohm a mod that was never intended to do so.

Dturp- Its not that I plan on sub ohming, I'd just like a contact less prone to oxidation. Even if the battery life improvement is minimal not having to scuff up the pin every week would be worth it for me!

Can't wait! The next mod I had been saving for was a Reo Grand, and now that is is being improved makes it even more awesome. I tried a Reo Grand on a 0.8 ohm microcoil with cotton wick from a friend and was blown away by performance. Can't wait to see this new and improved version which will put out even higher wattage! This christmas is going to be fun

If you have to clean it once a week your not cleaning the contact good enough . I would say once a month but once a week. Clean the contact with a metal file and apply some pressure I think you find it will take some time before a cleaning is needed .

I use a metal file and grind it 'til it's bright silver on the edges, then dab it with noalox. That lasts me about a week -- two if I'm lucky...

I don't know, maybe I need to use a heavier layer of noalox.

But, I'm really looking forward to not needing to deal with this problem in the future!

I must be one of the lucky ones. Never had an issue, and 99% of what I do it rinse, fill, swap battery. Often the rinse is rare.

me too... i use mine for a month or two after a good metal fingernail filing, and a new spring every few months, at .6 to .7 Ohms... chain vaping niight and day 6mg. nic.


but i use about 6 other mech devices a day too....

I have to say I clean mine at least every week, often more. I can see the sparkling and feel the loss in performance after a few days (@ 0.7 ohms). Maybe my file is no good. Or I'm not noaloxing correctly.
Anyway I'm waiting for this kit big time.

I think sparking affects the battery's contact surface as well. If one sees sparking and cleans the tip but not the batteries, it'll come back pretty quick. I haven't had any issues for some time now, since I changed the shape and materials of my firing pins. I'd be curious to see how darkzero is fairing, as I borrowed his pin shape; but he stuck with stainless steel. Last I heard, he was free of issues as well.

Yep, when I had juice slowly oozing and the contact was wet I got tiny crater marks on top of the batteries.
That was with a brass feeler gauge pin.
Now that I fixed that (my dumb mistake that caused it) I have not had to clean the brass feeler gauge pin.
Sorry, no nice pics like bumble bee there but I was in panic mode when I fixed it.

Will defiantly be getting Robs pin to try out, although I will probably keep the fuse mod.

I think climate might be a factor too. I live in a warm, humid, tropical climate so I tend to need to clean my mods quite often.

When I was in Chicago this summer, it was quite warm and very humid, and I had major problems with my contacts. That was back with the standard pin, and worn flat buttontop batteries; but still, pronouncedly more issues than here in Seattle.

re batts and SLR... .3 to .5 ohms, i ordered some Orbtronic 2900HD after viewing Bishopheals vid, and since then (his SLR coils .3 ohms) I resurrected my MNKE 650's for some dual coil cloudmonsters (geni/drippers) ...

*but for 18500/18490 I don't see any of the above... so i think i did hear that if you do use you IMR (AW) with SLR, you can vape with 5 second button presses, which is plenty for those lung buster coils... (?) without posing danger to your cell (or face)

If we do believe the AW IMR 18490 to be 15C (and not 8C as some sources state) then it's plenty of sub-ohm joy, without even considering length of button pressing. (For safety reasons I consider in my builds the battery to be 8C, just to be safe. And I advise everybody to do the same.)
We'll have to be careful to reevaluate our SLR with the sub-ohm kit however, as the voltage will be significantly more.

good point. Personally, I always figured battery safety without accounting for voltage drop. "Rounding up" was a crude safety margin. Also, tho, I never really understood: does v-drop mean the battery is being taxed less? . . . . or only that the voltage isn't getting to the coil? (I had always assumed the latter).
