So I changed the head on my melo 3 mini two days ago. From a .3ohm to the .5 ohm. Primed it put new juice in let it sit for a good 20 minutes. Everything was fine. But today I've been getting mad dry hit and Idk why. I've read that with the melo mini every now and then you gotta open the top, you see a little bubble come up, and should fix dry hit problems but not even that is working. Is there anything I do other than change the coil again?? I just ordered some and they wont be bere for a few days.

I'm glad I'm not the only one, I got the pico on Saturday an have been using the NautilusX with it but today I thought I'd try the melo 3 mini that came with it but I did same as you primed it & waited 20 minutes...
I'm getting constant dry hits an no flavour. I hope someone can chime in with suggestions

What wattage/voltage are you using? Id also make sure that your device is reading at .5. I've had it happen where I have changed coils and the resistance didn't reset to the correct Ohm, which causes your device to pump too much voltage to the coil.
It's reading the ohms at .56 I've got it on 30.5w and the voltage is 4.13.

I think it's just the way this tank is. I don't get very much flavor either. My wife swears up and down it tastes fine to her though but I think she just says that so I'll stop complaining about it. haha

It probably works better at higher wattages but I don't wanna vape higher than 30 watts. It's too warm of a vape even at that.
I've gone back to the NautilusX...

Also I'm really not a fan of the hidden airflow, I wanna be able to see an airflow ring or even have fixed airflow. There's no airflow on the cleito exo but they got it just right.
They also were clever with how they got past tpd cos using the original cleito coils makes it 3.5ml.
It's also less thirsty than the melo 3.
If you want a better sub ohm tank I'd suggest this :)

I usually don't go any higher than 30.5watts. Even at 32 watts its too warm for me. I don't mind the hidden airflow cuz if you look close enough there's like this little pin where it stops if you turn it all the way to the left and have full open airflow. I've gotten used to it. But you're absolutely right, it's thirsty as hell!! I have to refill it all the time. With my TFV4 Smok I would refill it twice a day unfortunately because of the battery placement on the pico it doesn't fit otherwise I'd just use that.

The tfv4 is an awesome tank, much better than the tfv8 onwards :)
You do know they have made a 25mm pico?? I don't really need it cos most of my tanks are 22mm or less but maybe you could consider it then your tfv4 fits.
I use my cleito exo on my Xcube ultra an it sits flush, otherwise I'd be getting the pico 25.
Also the AL85 takes bigger tanks too.
It looks really nice but cos my aliens have had reliability issues it's put me off getting the baby one.

No, I did not know that! I will have to look into it forsure. I really love my TFV4. It's got a brand new coil and wick in it as I had just rebuilt it the day before my old mod crapped out on me and then I went and got this pico which I also love. Just not a big fan of the Melo mini. It gives great clouds but I need that good flavor as well.

I very rarely have trouble with dry hits with the M3M, idk. I think the .5s are actually better in that regard than the .3s.

1. 70% VG max IMO, maybe even thinner if you can take it.

2. As with all factory coils, start low and work your way up. With a fresh coil I start at 10W, take a couple of puffs, increase to 15W, take a couple of puffs, etc. until I get to where I want to be.

3. I personally tend to keep the airflow wide open all the time.

4. Lower your power. The .3 CANNOT take what they recommend, power-wise. I usually vape the .3s around 40W, +/- 5W. Obviously this is partially personal preference, but I would put money on the guess that vaping it at 4+V has something to do with your dry hits. Although I'm not totally sure why you're having this problem with the .5, which I usually do vape at 40-50W and I have had very few problems with.

5. Try out the ECL coils, which have larger wicking holes.

6. Take primer puffs, puffing every so often without firing, ideally with the airflow closed.

7. Avoid extensive chain vaping.

None of this is earth shattering stuff, but as I said above, I have had almost no complaints with dry hits with this tank. Every so often I'll get a bum coil, otherwise they work until they don't. My guess would be that going with a thinner liquid (depending, not sure what you're using) will help a lot.

Once your cotton is burnt, it's not going to taste good. So if your hits were bone dry, yeah, this current coil could be done for. If it was more of a "warning" dry hit, it may still taste OK when well-saturated. Either way, it will start to go downhill quickly once singed.

I'd personally recommend the Pico 25 over the AL85 for a variety of reasons, if you're going to do something like that.

I'd also throw out that I absolutely love my Lemo 3, which is both an RTA and takes the same coils as the M3M. It's a little fiddly-- some small screws-- but works great; the flavor puts the M3M to shame. Just a thought! There are probably better tanks out there. I just have a soft spot for the Lemo 3 and if you've got extra iJust coils or ordered too many, it might be a workable option if you're not a fan of the M3M. Everyone's experience will be different but I've found the flavor to be solid enough in the M3M, for a factory tank, so I suspect that MAYBE there's a way to make it work better for you.... but maybe not, who knows? o_O

The smok spiral has really good flavour & gives enough clouds for me at 30 watts.
Or the isub apex mini which I also vape at 30 watts. I think they both fit the pico too.

I find the melo 3 to be a really warm vape at 30 watts, might decrease the wattage.
I think I'd go with the pico 25 too.
Smok have gone downhill & eleaf have been very reliable with me. The ipower misfires alot but is still one of my best internal battery mods.

I don't rate the melo tank but then again I'm loving the NautilusX an people have loads of complaints about it.
I find it just as good as the nautilus mini.
That's problem I have with building, tiny screws an I shake far too much.
I have a good mate at a vape shop though an he builds for me :)

I say go for it, try it at 25W if you're finding it warm. I think their recommendations are stupid. I'll vape the .5s at 30W or even below sometimes before bed, works just fine. Again, I do realize not everyone is going to like the tank, but as soon as I stopped trying to vape it too high it starting working WAY better for me.

Also totally agreed about SMOK/Eleaf. I am still enjoying SMOK's more recent tanks (though I prefer the TFV8 to the 12) but the mods have slid again IMO. Plus, from this day forward when I buy cheap mods, I'm only going to buy those that are compatible with Arctic Fox and as of now, SMOK isn't. So Pico 25 it is!

Yeah, the Lemo 3 is a pain with the screws. BUT if you just use it as a subohm tank and not an RTA, you basically just have to install the deck and then you don't have to deal with the screws anymore. In RTA mode, though, the screws remove the cap so it's definitely not an RTA for those who shake or just can't handle tiny screws.

I just always mention it because I got it on a whim and figured if all else fails, it was cheap and takes the iJust coils, and then it turned out to be possibly my favorite tank, once it's built anyway...

The best smok mod imo is the Xcube ultra, that'll be my next purchase :)
Was gonna get the cuboid tap but I tried out the tap function & it's a hassle.
Definitely prefer original cuboid an my evic basics.

I must try the articfox firmware too!

Oh man you HAVE to try the Arctic fox! I would seriously recommend trying it before you pull the trigger on a new SMOK, that's for sure. Only because the firmware truly turned my Pico and RX200 into near DNA-like devices; they are working absolutely phenomenally. They are unrecognizable. Now they are simply inexpensive enclosures for a chip that's working like one that costs 4x more.

Not to discourage you from getting a mod you want, of course... just that the Arctic Fox is a serious game changer. If you get a chance to try it first, you may well decide your money is better spent on a new mod that you can immediately install the firmware on.

But i'll stop hijacking the thread. Please feel free to message me again if you want any more info about AF :)
