I have some melted black plastic endcaps on my DCTank. They are gooey and sticky, yucky...

I diy'd this juice using TPA blueberry, TPA blueberry candy, and several drop of Fruit Express raspberry from Ecigexpress. Which one could be the culprit?

The juice was made with the blueberries, was in the tank for abour a week, but flavor wasn't lively enough. Last night, I drained the tank back into the bottle, added several drop of the FE raspberry. I noticed the melted endcaps today, so I'm not sure if it started before or after I added the rasberry.

**This happened once before. I was cleaning a bunch of tanks, and I noticed a slightly melted endcap. I didn't have the FE flavors then, so I thought it must have been my cinnamon pear. I did have a blueberry juice in one of those tanks.

I don't remember where, but someone has posted a pic of melted endcaps from a gummybear juice a short time ago.

Anyone got answers for me?

Mine look just like this picture. I didn't take the pic, but someone else has had this problem, and they took a picture.

Hmm.. been using my tanks since I got them on your co-op. (love them by the way!) I'm going to take a look at my endcaps now.

3 minutes later.... Nope.. I have 2 of the co-op tanks in use, I just took one apart and washed it out and took pics. The end caps look brand new. When I need to refill the other tank, I'll take it apart and examine the caps also. It's got to be the juice that's doing it. The main juice that has been ran through this tank is my diy caramel cappuccino mix (FA caramel cappuccino a drop of sweetener and either a couple drops of sweet cream or a couple drops of Capp vanilla custard). I also use plain Ole unflavored, warm sugar cookie (kbv) and a ciy vanilla cookie (cappella vanilla custard with FA cookie and a drop of sweetener).

I use a xl boge carto 3ohm at around 5v

I am not sure if maybe it was the combo of the two but I have vaped the FE Raspberry in the same tanks you are using with no issues. I have also vaped the FE Blackberry in the same tanks. I will keep an eye out here to see what you figure out. I am not sure that I want to be vaping something that melts delrin lol

I am not sure these endcaps are delrin. I assumed they were, but I doubt that they are. Perhaps it's the blueberry.

Tom950 originally posted about this. I responded to his thread with my problem. He used only a diy gummy bear juice. There must be a common flavor.

I gotta admit, I'm a little freaked out...

Could it be a high % of malic acid? I have tasted TFA Blueberry Candy and don't care for it because there is too much of it for my tastes. I am wondering if Tom950 used it in his GB juice. I don't like the looks of those pictures at all.

I use a lot of fruit flavoring and my tanks end caps all look like new. I am going to keep a close eye on them though.

I'd have to say that they are not Delrin. I've been vaping Delrin capped DCTs for months now with no issues.

Actually, I did have some syringe tank plungers that started to deteriorate like yours pictured. That's why I went to Delrin.

Hope ya solve the mystery... Good luck!

Someone on the Trippy Tips thread had problems recently with a similar problem, but to an even greater extent! I'm sorry, but I don't remember who, or exactly when, but it seems like it was a major juice vendor's juice, not diy. I will try to go back tonight and find the post, but things move so fast on the Trippy thread that it will take a while. BW - no problems with the tanks I got through your coop, they are fabulous. I did buy a bunch of dc cartos, and discovered that I like single coil better. People now think I'm nuts because I clip the top coil. Maybe they're right.....

I've had this happen to me before too -- twice. But in my case, it was the ends of acrylic swirl drip-tips that melted. The first time it happened, I was using TPA's honeysuckle and the second time, TPA's cherry blossom.

I just now checked the list of ingredients, and I'm betting triacetin is the culprit. It's also in their blueberry candy.

Thank you so much for posting this, my4jewels! I was really freaked out by those melted drip-tips and haven't vaped either one of those flavors since it happened. At least now I think I know what to watch out for.

I have some spare endcaps saturated in both TPA blueberry flavors, so we'll see. Perhaps I will contact Linda at TPA and see if she can shed some light on this. I sure don't want it to be a common occurence.

48 hours later, both the TPA blueberry flavor and TPA blueberry candy flavor are starting to have a definite effect on the endcaps. So, I can definitively say that these flavors will melt plastic endcaps on DCTanks. I don't know if it has to do with the concentration of the flavors or not, but I will certainly not be using them in these tanks any longer.

I was curious about that chemical triacetin so I just did a quick search. Triacetin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Seems its used in food, but its also used as a "solvent" and "plasticizer" (sp). Weird... how could something used as those also be a " possible source of food energy in artificial food regeneration systems on long space missions. It is believed to be safe to get over half of one's dietary energy from triacetin."

Huh? Maybe its just me but somethings wrong with that! lol

Hey Buffalo, if that info bothers you, you don't want to look up PG & VG. They are also solvents and plasticizers and they are used as an anti-freeze. Sometimes we associate words with certain items and we don't look at the true meaning of the word. Not a slam against you, I'm just as guilty at times. H2O is one of the world's best solvents.
