Melting Cartridges

I am fairly new to vaping and really enjoy being analog free. I always wanted to get away from the harmful effects of smoking, but I really loke to smoke. Naturally, ecigs area great soultion for me...

One thing has been worrying me, melted carts. This makes me feel very uncomfortable, and I am not sure if it is something I am doing wrong. Have others experienced this? What are some solutions, suggestions, etc. I am currently using the 510.

Anyways, I have searched the forum with little luck finding info on this. I am really very open to suggestions.

I use a 510 atty and carts too, and I melt mine a little when the atty gets too hot. I just use a pair of scissors or something and trim some of the end off. I think they should make those carts just a little bit shorter..

The shape of the cutout in the cartridge should line up with the ceramic pot in the atomizer.

I am lining them up properly. I starting paying attention when I first noticed the melting. I will try cutting them a bit shorter. Do they make a non-plastic tip? I am not really a dripper, but have been considering after seeing some of the metal dripping tips. Is there one that you can use with a filler?

Now I am a bit more freaked out. I cut a cart and have been vaping it for a while. I realized that I was totally tasting/inhaling the melting plastic. Hmmm.....

Yeah, I noticed that melted plastic taste too...BLECH! Much better after I trimmed the carts up.

As far as I know, the only carts that aren't plastic, are the metal T tips, but they are for dripping only.

RN4075 cart's are a bit tighter and slightly longer but they seem to be more heat resistant. If you trim one a little and break it in, it may suit you.

It would be nice to have a rigid silicone cart body with a plastic (or heck even silicone) tip.

The RN cart's look like they could well be silicone. I don't have one handy that I want to chance melting though.

Oh I think you're right I just did a little chew test on the mouthpiece and it had that characteristic silicone "give". Interesting...

As for non plastic tips - you said you dripped? There are the super T dripper things you can get they aren't plastic - in fact they look rather sturdy from the pix I've seen. They seem to replace the part you mean, at least it LOOKS that way from the pictures. I don't have one myself (yet) but I am considering it as I do drip almost exclusively.

Well I don't use my 510s very often so I normally put up with the plastic taste as it's only temporary. But I've tried an RN4075 cart in one and it works great - very clean taste.

I have the same problem and it's lead to a cough. I use the VP1 usb passthrough and it's gets really hot. Thanks for the tips guys.
