SR v4 rta great for MTL
Hussar RTA great MTL
Taifun GTv3 RTA great MTL ,
Exo rta is .more open draw DTL not MTL , you can shut the Airflow down a lot , but the 3 listed above are better for MTL ,

The hussar and SRv4 both have options of swapping out the posative post for a reduced deck hole , combined with shutting down airflow make a great MTL rta,s The hussar has gained a good following and has its own fourm thread ,

The Taifun GTv3 can have builds lowered to reduced the draw closer its mounted the tighter the draw
along with an insert plug too that fits into the deck airflow hole located under the coil,

    Somewhere between here and there
I only tried the 6ml tank briefly when I was having leaking problems with the dual coil deck. I would say that the flavor was good but not quite as good as the smaller tank. It wasn't that big of a change to me. The exo really is a good flavor producing tank. I wasn't the only one that had issues with the dual coil deck. I really like the coils that came with the exo. I think they are some type of Clapton but I'm not sure exactly what kind. I normally run 26/32 Clapton coils in most of my tanks except for the dual coil decks. I usually run two 26ga SS spaced coils in those.

I have 4 merlins that have never leaked/seeped. With that said, I'm in ccwaters camp and won't be recommending it anymore due to others pressfit issues.

My buddy bought two and one began seeping a couple weeks ago. Now, the seepage isn't a lot of liquid and was a ring left on his box. Some people don't mind the amount as he didn't. Just wipes it off at the end of the day. Nothing catastrophic.

Also, a lot of those spendy tanks cc mentioned, have clones available. I think he has a few.

Think I'm just gonna keep one of the 3 Merlins to experiment with (hope I pick one of the magic ones that don't seep) o_O

My No.1 tank as of this writing is IJoy Exo.

My 2nd favorite is my 3.xx ml (converted/shorten a bit) Augvape Merlin (with square JFC; I also use another 4ml Merlin with round JFC).

I would suggest you experiment with the Merlin converter which you can get from Fasttech, I find better flavor than 4ml Merlin.

Btw, both my Merlin tanks seep a bit but I don't care.

    ok, ok, ok, ok!:-x
Well... my vapemail JUST got here, so after ALL my freaking out about the seeping... I think I'm just gonna suck it up & hope for the best on all three of em.

    Does that make me crazy?
(@Eskie - plz make sure the vape fairy watches over my Merlin(s)?)

Hopefully it'll be a good way to begin learning to build coils & figure out wicking?

Any newb-related wicking advice would be appreciated for these - as wicking was what made me run away (screaming) from the Aromamizer & Billow V2 when I got those awhile back.

Not that they were necessarily difficult to wick, just that I didn't know (& still don't - other than Utoob vids & forum reading) a thing about it.

    I better like these tanks.

    You are ALL on notice.;)

(btw... I've got 2 10-packs of AVS SS Claptons:
    28X2 GAUGE CORE / 40 GAUGE WRAP
    6 wraps
    3.0mm ID
    0.369Ώ

    &
    28x3 GAUGE CORE / 36 GAUGE WRAP
    6 wraps
    3.0mm ID

    0.257Ώ

    & a 15-ft spool of the Dual Core Fused^^
(& a 30-ft spool of regular 24g for basic builds if Claptons end up being overkill/too much)
& the Coil Master DIY V3 Kit & cotton pads.

Would I be completely out of line to try one of the pre-wrapped Triple Cores at this size/resistance with one of my "MaxVG" dessert vapes (thinking FRYD "Cookies & Cream" - liking that one right now)?

I had the Dual Fused 28x2/40 recommended by a couple folks on Reddit for the Merlin. They suggested 7 wraps & 3mm ID... then said:
"You might want to start with 5-6 wraps though just to get familiar with how it behaves before going higher, plus it will give you a good idea of the sizing involved."

    That's how I landed on the 6-wraps.
Wanted to get 7-wraps, but AVS was out-of-stock when I ordered em.

& at 3mm ID - does that mean about 6mm of cotton?
(is 3mm right with these for MaxVG?)
I'm strictly DTL - does anybody leave the reducer in for DTL, or is it too restricted? (just pulling on it without juice or a build in, it seems just a TINY bit more restricted than my sub tanks only 2 clicks open as I normally vape em.) I figure I'll need more airflow with the Clapton in there though.

(just opened one to start with to try things out later. I'm curious about this whole "single coil" thing in general - as my sub tanks have been DVC's. If I like the single coil - I can take it from there, learn it with apples to apples tanks, experimenting with builds/wicking for different juices. Who knows? Maybe I'll end up with 400 atties one day too.):p

Thanks again everybody for all the advice.:toast:

    Bad decision?
    It's not definite.
    I'm starting with one.
No, It's just I would have figured a first timer starting with simple coils. You're going all-in with the "Heavy Duty" coils. Nothing wrong with it, Good Luck and keep us informed.

We are all here to help you if needed.

Yeah, I've cleaned one out (carefully - good thing I read about that top o-ring wanting to escape - mine would've been down the drain - barely caught it) & I'm going to take some time getting a coil in there, checking for hot spots n such (as per the AVS tutorial) & wicking.

Got some other life stuff to deal with for awhile though.
Let you know when I fire it up (& probably need you to hold my hand & guide me through wicking - if you're willing. Unless it's as simple as it seems it Might be. I don't need to be Scottish Rolling or anything, do I?)

Thanks for dealing with my schizoid decision-making process.
(still just starting with one... baby steps.)

oh... any tips on coil placement? a bit higher is better?

You want the coil about 1-2mm above the air hole. I think most here would agree with that.
