Here is her first comment, Sounds like a joke to me...

Kris Vincenzes Rick, ecigs are NOT harmless. I worked in 2 different cigarette stores so I was educated a little bit about them. They're actually more dangerous than an actual cigarette, they were initially sold for smokers to use in public places that banned smoking indoors because they don't give off the harmful secondhand smoke.

Sounds like they meant to say they're actually less dangerous than...

That's for temperature control wire like Titanium, Nickel and Stainless steel.
Do I have to worry about that using kanthal wire or the notch coil that came with the Merlin? I am going to use that notch coil next when I rebuild it later today. I think it is like a .5ohm coil. Lavatube wouldn't work with it that low but I know the Pico will. Not sure what type of metal it is.

I found some thin mylar washers at my local hardware store for about $.50, works perfect.

thanks for the reminder, noted. I saw that mentioned earlier in a reddit thread and will have to check the hardware stores tomorrow.

I searched 3 hardware stores looking for these and they didn't have anything remotely close, so I bought these for my Merlin/Evic VTC Mini: Replacement POM Heat Insulation Gasket for Atomizers (10-Pack)

If anyone else buys these and thinks they don't fit, they screw on. ;)

Kanthal doesn't use tc unless you have one of the couple "magical" mods that have a setting for it.

The notch coil is stainless and can be used in straight poewer mode or temperature mode.

So, no you don't need temperature control.

All that said, @Eskie should be able to help with mod set up.

Thanks I am almost out of liquid on my current build so once it runs dry and my other 2 batteries are charged Ill go build a new coil to use with the Pico. Can't wait to try it out. Will be my first coil under 1.2ohm that I'll get to use.

No problem! I suggested @Eskie because I don't own any istick mods and I'm not familiar with their mod menu as far as Temperature mode and power mode.

Lol Eskie I am sure will provide more information if I need it. This is the first I've ever heard of Tem control. Didn't know they could do that. There is also a bunch of mumbo jumbo about locking resistance and bringing coils to room temp and stuff. I'll probably just stick a battery in, put the mod on, and figure it out as I go. That method normally works I'd say maybe 90% of the time.

Have fun! Stick with wattage mode for now. Fine with Kanthal and SS, so if you want to mess with the notch coils, you'll be fine. I've never used them. Rules for the Pico are like for any other mod. Start low and work your wattage up. you'll know when you hit your sweet spot. For a ~1.1 ohm Kanthal on my Merlin, 17W seems to dial in best, and that's across mods, from a DNA Triade to the Pico. YMMV.

Do you have an external charger for your battery?

Yea, on my Lavatube now its a 1.7ohm and I normally set it at around 8W. And yes I have a external charger, its a Xtar charger. I have 3 1865 batteries they are kind of old, but 2 of them are 2000mah and the other is a 1600mah. I think those should work at the lower watt settings.
