I thought I read that they would ban the sell of new products on August 8th. Does that mean that we can still get nicotine until 2018 or was there something I missed that will ban it this August?

Nicotine (and all things vape related) becomes a tobacco product on the 8th. I don't know the deeming regs well enough to answer that, or much of anything about the regs (there are numerous threads about it but they are huge at this point). I just went for it and stocked up now to be safe rather than sorry if I can't buy things later, or the prices go up multiples of what they are now due to taxes or supply/demand. I ran my credit cards up a bit but I won't have to buy anything other than cotton, wire, flavorings and pg/vg for the next 10 or 15 years.

When buying the nicotine, what should I use as a base? The place I get my juice from DFW I think I normally buy in a 60PG/40VG mix. So would I just want the nicotine base as a PG or VG to make the mixing easier?

How much should I buy? How much nic, PG, VG, flavorings??? I think I should get enough supplies that will last years...
This will tell you how much to buy of nic - RTS Vapes Nicotine Use Calculator

pg/vg and flavorings should always be available but may get more expensive. I got a gal ea of pg/vg and a handful of flavorings, but enough nic to last 10 - 15 years for two people.

Does this look like a good start? Not sure how long that bottle of nic will last but hopefully a while.

My advice on nicotine? Bag the 60 ml for $12. You can get 1 liter for $45 here from Heartland Nicotine Solution - 100mg Liter. Order some smaller glass bottles to fill (I like 250 ml) to make things easier and store it in the freezer. Personally, I have 3 liters in my freezer right now. Should last me over 10 years.

At 18mg that 60ml bottle will only make you about 300ml of juice. You may want more nic and you will need more vg/pg depending on your final vg ratio.

FYI:

From Essential Depot's e-mail:
"The upcoming Feb 2017 Federal E-Cig Regulations have caused a spike in sales to the 5000+ Vape Shops we supply. The associated demand spike across the industry has caused VG and PG prices to go up significantly. Our manufacturer and supplier is giving us one more week to purchase at our current price. Please help keep your price as low as possible by ordering at the current price before August 1st."

For a start I'll go ahead and just order that cart. This will be my first time mixing. I don't get any more money until Aug 1st so if I am still able to buy that one liter from the link above, I will.

    Somewhere between here and there
Thanks for the link to the calculator Fozzy. I have roughly enough for about seven years at my current level of use. I think I should probably get another liter of 100mg before long. I'm not worried about getting pg and vg. They are used in many other things and should still be available. There are websites that sell soap making supplies that sell it and they don't carry nic so shouldn't be affected by the fda stuff. At least I don't think so.

I have been making my own liquid for several months now. I started out by finding recipes that I thought I might like and then buying those flavorings. I now have over 100 flavorings and can make many different recipes. It's a little bit of an investment getting the flavors built up but once you find favorites you can buy in bulk sizes and save even more. The only liquid I buy and don't make is WTA.

Ordered total was $24.62. I hope I can still get the nicotine on the first. As for the PG,VG, and flavoring I would think those would still be available to buy after the 8th.

See the quote I posted above. PG/VG will be going up soon, and likely more in the future (as will nic most likely). I have enough nic for 10 - 15 years (considering buying another liter) and enough vg/pg (gal of each) for 2 yrs but am considering grabbing another gal of each this weekend.

That should work. Yes, the other stuff like PG and VG will be around. In all likelihood even nicotine will still be around, at least for a while. But for me, better safe than sorry. So whatever you can get the first week of August will be worth it.

I am a little confused. There are so many different dates. August 8th 2016, August 8th 2018 for deeming regulations, and the link above said 2017. Which dates are for what. When are they going to restrict the sales of nicotine products?

Any price increase in PG and VG will be short lived as demand falls off when folks are past the 8/8 panic. Nic, well, who knows.

Whole Tobacco Alkaloids. And what's that? No clue, I only know what WTA stands for. I know it's a DIY thing.

The first date in the deeming regs is aug 8th but there are more dates of between 2016 and 2018 that kick in different parts of the deeming regs that will affect different vendors.

    What is WTA?

WTA is short for whole tobacco alkaloids. Tobacco alkaloids are roughly made up of 95% nicotine and 5% of other minor alkaloids. The nic that we buy doesn't contain the other 5%. It is removed in processing. A chemist here on the forum came up with a way to extract those minor alkaloids a few years ago. He shared the process and now Aroma makes it. Most people are fine with regular nic liquid but some people still crave that missing 5% of other alkaloids. I happen to be one of the unlucky ones and do miss it. I buy unflavored wta and add it in with some of my DIY liquids. I don't need it all the time but sometimes do. My favorite is to drip the unflavored when I need it.

If anyone hasn't seen it yet, Essential Depot has glycubes on sale.
