    Somewhere between here and there
I tried using the ry4 double by itself and it was ok but not great. I like the ry4 mixed with peanut butter and some sweetener. There are a few flavors that are ok by themselves but in my opinion most need others to make a complete flavor profile.

Trent, if you like lemon then the flavorwest lemonade is one of my favorites.

Sorry for dragging the thread off topic again.

I think it depends what you're going for. I find with my tobacco flavors I can use a Ry4 from say TFA it's fine to simply mix at whatever percent, typically only 3-4 percent and I'm good to go.

I tried the ry4 double by itself at 6 - 7% and while it was ok it seemed a bit muted so I bumped it up to 10% and am enjoying it. This is 0mg of nic though for a night time vape.

What percent did/do you use with the ry4 double and the other ingredient/sweetener? I am just getting into diy and been doing some reading and marking some favorites on ELR but I only have a handful of flavors so far that I picked partly on a whim, and for making one particular recipe (Deadly Sin). I have a couple carts of flavors I plan to purchase later this or next month once my stock of pre-made juice starts to dwindle some more.

aww crap, sorry for continuing the derail.

I feel it will get back on topic soon. No one has any Merlin related questions Which would obviously be priority.

Was looking for a good Diy E juice E book or pdf and I just had to click this link that said VapePorn. lol. Was a little worried at first.:lol:

But I'll let you guys know how my first mix goes...

Note: If you don't see any activity from me within the next 2 hours call an ambulance lol.

Just rebuilt mine. First attempt was to use less wick about 3/4 down in the cups.It leaked almost a full tank of juice.:( I then rebuilt it again and stuffed the cotton all the way down like I did the first time and its fine.I also replaced the airflow restrictor because this thing was just way too airy even for a mostly DLer' like myself. It was also way too noisy and the old lady said I sounded like Darth Vader. I also lowered my resistance. WAY better vapor and flavor.
Current build-.87 ohms, 3mm, ss316l,tight coil, wicks touching the bottom of the cups,80vg.I also lowered the coil below the tops of the posts.15 watts in wattage mode. Its like night and day.
    Previous build-
1.27 ohm 3mm 316L tight coil, air restrictor out, jfc open, airflow open 1/4, vaping 80vg. wicks all the way to the bottom of the cups pushed back slightly from the juice holes.Top of the coil almost even with the top of the posts
Vaping in wattage mode at 13.5w.

Just be careful doing that. While the people on this thread are eager to help it can be annoying.
1- Its kinda disrespectful to the person who started the thread.Luckily MMW (and others on this thread) is a super nice person who loves to help.Other people may not be so understanding.
2-Mods do a tough enough job without having to go into threads and remove a bunch of off topic posts.Grumpy mods are never a good thing.
3- People come to these types of threads to do research and ask questions about the topic. If they have to go back 5 pages to find any info. they will probably ask a question thats been beaten to death already. Not a huge deal but again can be annoying to the thread veterans.
4-I try to read the threads before I ask questions because chances are its been asked and answered already. This is much easier to do when the threads remain relatively short and to the point.

When I saw your original Pico question it was at the top of the page and I honestly forgot what thread I was on.Otherwise I would have directed you to the Pico thread. I certainly understand you are very comfortable with the people here but ime there are tons of knowledgeable people on ECF willing to help.I think we have all been guilty of offtopic posts from time to time but I wouldn't make a habit of it. Just some friendly advice I hope I don't come across as a jerk .

Sorry and this is bringing this thing further out of realm. But again I feel as if I am singled out. I started on this thread (invited) at around 80 pages. From there all I've done was asked about how the Merlin worked with certain mods like my Lavatube then the Pico. Shortly afterwards I also found a thread dedicated to the pico which I started posting in. Someone suggested that DIY juice was good to use and cheaper, We PM a bit on that, and then the Regulations came about for buying the nic. Several member were engaged in that part. After that it was completely related to the right size hex bit for the grub screws. Then some FB conversations were brought in momentarily. Then we were back to talking about specific types of coils to use in the tank. A few of us got off topic about screens and batteries for a couple pages. Then we were back to cleaning and disassembly of the Merlin tank, and what the symbol actually means (Still not sure but it doesn't matter). Then very out of the blue headphones and whatnot were discussed. I was back to asking what wire the Merlin works with. Pg 95 I made a statement about my new shipment of supplies and uploaded What I thought was kinda funny note from Expert packer James. Then my Card was hacked by one of my recent purchases could have been the tank, or juice supplies. Since that we were quickly back to cleaning, the smoked glass look, and what juice mix works best in the Tank.

So in all IMO I don't see how we've strayed too far. The only spot was when it went to headphones and stuff, but then again that wasn't me, and more than 3 people were engaged in the biggest part of the off topic. As for the DIY I am just trying to make sure I don't waste a third of my short supplies making too thick of a mix for the Juice feed holes.
Not trying to drag this out, but It looks bad when I am singled out at random. I think most of the off topic stuff found its way back to topic within a few post. But having to write stuff like this brings it further away from what should be discussed.

    And no You don't.

    It's all good folks!

I think I'm going to put a big coil in later for higher resistance to use on the Noisy Cricket!

    In the meantime...... Beauty.

Does yours pop and crackle a lot? My moms mod does that. My kayfun never did, but then again I couldn't sub ohm. Every now and then on the Merlin I get something hot that lands on my tongue.

Also anyone notice the included mouthpiece ever get dirty fast?

The outside of the mouthpiece? Usually if you get spitback you need more power.
A little of that, Plus some dry skin (YUCK). Maybe cause I have chapped lips. Plus I have a habit of priming a lot before I vape. Like puff, puff, puff, puff, puff, puff, pufffff Inhale.

I'm on 6 refills on each my Merlins using Ekowool and it's working great. I have not done a dry burn yet. The wicks are staying clean and no build up on the coils either.
I'm going to have to look up Ekowool Never heard of it until reading this thread. I'm still rocking the silica with the merlin. I put that notch coil in and had to use 3 strands of 3mm silica to make it fill the coil. Earlier I was freaking out a little cause I looked into the juice holes and didn't see anything? The silica gets so clear (Glass) I couldn't tell it was there.

I think it's basically the same as silica. I use the braided one that stays together more.

If anybody is interested, I just got one of those $17 Merlin's at efun in black. Square holes in both the chimney and deck. Merlin was wearing a smoked glass tank and came with a clear spare. I ordered on the 7/17 and got it on 8/2. It seemed like it took a lot longer than that. It works just as good as the old ones.

Oh okay. Lol I thought it was like some type of braided sheep wool or something . I'm getting much better hits with the Merlin than I ever did with my kayfun. So much so that I'm probably getting like 5x the amount of nicotine that I was before. I'm going to have to lower my amount now, cause lowering the amount of vaping seems impossible.
