Then why not just JB Weld it together? It's non toxic and heat resistant.

The seeping on mine are an issue, but not enough to make me want to shelve them or seal them with silicone. I find if you don't move the JFC they seep a lot less. With thicker juices you can fill the tank without having to close off the JFC, if you don't dawdle filling it. ;)

The Merlin isn't the first rta to have issues and certainly won't be the last.
Great vape, poor design, c'est la vie...

I probably vape my 2 Merlins the most. So this is not good news. Neither seep but both are only a few months old. Sometimes I don't want to be chucking boatloads of clouds through the Boreas. Which is why I use it typically outside. On the other hand I find the Merlin about perfect in building, capacity, flavor, wicking....and I can use it inside and not worry about setting off smoke detectors. [emoji33]

Hi. I've got some Merlins on the way from FT, and in the meantime have gotten some Goblin Mini V3s that I've been trying to work with after several years of not having built my own coils (on an old Kayfun). The Goblin Mini V3 and Merlin build decks are very similar, so I figured I could get some help here regarding building a good single coil MTL style setup on either one of these tanks.

I'm using rayon for the first time, which has been working out okay, but I'm sure I'm probably not quite trimming it right, and may be using a bit too much material. It is hard to tell with rayon. I get a bit of discoloration on either end of the wick, just past the coil. I only have 26 gauge double twisted kanthal and 30 gauge single strand kanthal for now. The 30 gauge is kind of tough to work with because it is so thin. The 26 gauge double twisted is just too big to get a good above ohm MTL build. The best I've been able to do is 0.82 ohms, using a 3.5 inner diameter and 10 wraps. But, of course, for MTL vaping that ends up being too warm. I've got some 28 gauge kanthal coming in, which I think will workout better overall, along with some other wire (SS 316L, etc.) to experiment with - including some 32 gauge double twisted kanthal.

So, basically I'm asking for some advice on doing good single coil, above ohm mouth-to-lung builds using the Merlin's type of velocity deck - including best practices for using rayon wick (which I've already read quite a bit of generally info on). Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

It's mostly the newer, more sensitive smoke detectors (I think the photoelectric ones). More frequently found in commercial spaces like offices, hotels and dorms. I've read of it in rental apartments as well if the landlord puts them in.

That's why when I travel I go with a high nic, high PG juice in a low watt setup for minimal cloud. No problems with that. If I tried that with say my Limitless+, I'd probably set it off even if I vaped in the bathroom with the door closed.

Holy cow! Yeah, that's the thing about ordering from FT, or other direct from China suppliers, it takes (seemingly) forever for your order to finally get to you. I bit the bullet and ended up recently ordering some Kayfun Mini V3 clones from 3FVape, which I believe is also another direct from China supplier. In their case everything I ordered supposedly ships within 24 hours, but despite that - how long will shipping actually take? No idea. I've never ordered from them before.

I've got vape supplies on order from everywhere right now, even from Amazon (mainly just some extra coil). My domestically ordered Coil Master V3 kit and tanks (the MG V3s) already arrived within a few days. I generally prefer to order from a domestic supplier, even though it costs me a little more to do so, but I've been ordering so much recently I had to cut costs as much as possible somehow - so some ordering from China was a must.

It's been so long since I did rebuild-able stuff, there was a lot to order - especially since I wanted to try out two or three different, highly recommended RTAs. I'm loving the Coil Master V3 kit with the 521 Mini. It's a great platform for rebuilding compared to how I used to rebuild (back in the days of using drill bits and balls of organic cotton), but now I see they have ceramic jigs? Damn, something like that would be handy to have!

Now that I've got all this gear, and more coming in, any recommendations for good ways to store it all in one place? I've got vape gear spread out all over my desk at home. The wife is not liking that very much!

The bulk of my stuff that is not in use (and empty boxes for stuff that is in use) are put into plastic storage tubs I got from bed bath n beyond on shelves in the basement. Mods get tested then reboxed with a small silica pack in each mod box. Tanks n RTA generally do not get tested, just put into storage with a handful of silica packs in each tub.

    Somewhere between here and there
My vape stuff is overflowing. Just over the past year or so I've ordered a bunch of stuff and put most of it into storage and also started doing DIY liquids so my box of flavors has grown immensely over time and I haven't even really ordered many big bottles.

My last order from gearbest took almost exactly a month to arrive but for some reason customs held it for over two weeks. It was just one goblin mini tank. I usually have better luck when ordering from FT.

I had an order a couple of months ago in NYC customs for 7 weeks. If your status says "processed through facility" the post office told me this does not mean it has cleared customs.

Damn, my Mini Goblin V3 still leaks like a sieve anytime I refill it. Nothing I do seems to help, though my builds are otherwise vastly improving - except for maybe my wick tails? I hope I have better luck with the Merlin, but both RTAs have very similar build decks. Hopefully the issue is more mechanical with the GM V3, rather than how I'm building on the thing. I hate to read about some people having issues with their Merlins. That does not fill me with a lot of confidence, but I will hang in there and see how things go - assuming my Merlin RTAs ever show up!
