So I went to clean and rebuild my coil on my Merlin yesterday, and when I was taking the tank apart, I thought I heard a small cracking noise, but I didn't see anything and figured it was just the threads breaking loose. So this morning I went to refill it, and then I saw a small crack at the top of the tank. I will post a picture. Anyone have this issue or use their tank with a small crack in it like this?

I haven't, but that sort of stress crack in the glass will be stressed every time you screw the top down (not the fill cap but the part with the chimney) and if you go just tiny bit too hard it will crack straight down. I would replace that glass now before it's an issue later.

Was kinda thinking that, but wanted to check. I'll replace it when I go to refill again later. I'll have to check and see if I even have another glass.

They do come with a replacement glass. I just keep those things in the original boxes, that way I know which glass goes to which tank.

This is why I don't even take that apart anymore. I just run hot water through the fill slots for rinsing, angling it this-way-and-that to hit all the inner glass surface, and shake it back out the same way. Good enough!

Yes no rime or reason why my tank cracked. Got on spare glass and immediately ordered 10 more authentic glass from FastTech.

My habit is to always clean the whole Merlin tank when I re-coil.
I recalled, I have broken 3 Merlin glass tanks so far (I am using 2 Merlin tanks on daily rotation).
hehehe... my spare glass tank has long gone.
Btw, I always keep at least 2 spare Merline glass tanks available, as of this writing another one is being shipped from Fasttech to me.
