That's the power of the hook that big tobacco companies have engineered into cigs. I used to smoke through asthma attacks. Stupid, self destructive behavior and I consider myself to be fairly intelligent. Junkies know that junk is gonna kill them but they still go on and addiction specialists say that cigarettes are more powerfully addictive than smack.
It still blows my mind that all those millions of dollars of research that BT has put into making tobacco more addictive can be wiped out by some glycerin, a battery and a wire coil. Amazing............. and a little funny. :)

After all is said and done. It is his life to do with as he sees fit. If he wants to continue to smoke, it's his business. No one else should have a say, even his wife. I know one thing, no one will tell me whether I'm going to smoke or not. It was my choice to stop the cigars and take up vaping. Reason being - enlarged lymph nodes throughout my lungs and couldn't breathe very good anymore. Without those things occurring I would still be smoking cigars as I loved them so much.

Family use to harp about my quitting. That just made me smoke all the more. Personlly I just hate when people tell me what I'm going to do or not do. Only time that happens is at work where I have not control over it.

Yeah, I sympathize with smokers, being an ex. As mistinthewoods said, an army of BT chemists do nothing everyday but make cigs more addictive, as if nic was not enough!

Still, there's something else. Nic is just the baseline hook. A lot of it is psychological, the adult pacifier? I'm safe! My cig (now PV) is and has always been my friend, was there when no one else was. It's the symbol of rebellion, when I tell this mad world to take a hike. No matter what they do, at least I have control over WHAT kills me...eventually. It's true instant gratification, a little work, a few puffs. Alcohol serves the same purpose, have a few drinks after work (not my cup).

We all want to live longer, but nobody know his/her expiration date, not as if stamped on our forehead. If someone 70 wants to chain smoke and go out in a blaze of glory, I say let him enjoy it! Wouldn't wish it on 20 year olds though. :)

One shouldn't judge unless they have walked in his shoes. I got lung cancer 17 years ago...had chemo and my right upper lobe removed and went back to smoking as soon as I could drive(my hubby wouldn't bring me any). The doctor had told me that it would probably come back in two years or so anyway, so I decided not to bother quitting. Well, I'd never had any luck quitting before when I'd bothered to try. Tried patches, pills, hypnosis, acupuncture, cold turkey to no avail, until e-cigarettes! I know that I have been lucky so far, and it may not last, but I've had a pretty long run and something is going to take each and every one of us, sooner or later. I LIKED to smoke, but I LOVE Vaping. I need the hand-to-mouth as well as the nicotine. I may cut back the amount of nicotine eventually (12 mg. now), but I have my doubts that I will ever give it up completely!

Sad to think that even with the amount of money you may have, how hot your spouse may be, how many awards or fans you can have that love you.... There's always something/ someone ready to take you out! We all know and can feel for him. I take the good with the bad on this one. Hopefully someone will see this that really cares and correctly introduce e-cigs to him.

It really does amaze me though how it's almost guaranteed that there's people picking up that magazine saying "What an idiot! He has CANCER for crying out loud!" Ummmmmm...... where's the support? Can someone just help the man? Maybe he has already gotten wind of e-cigs and is being stubborn... Who know's? Even then if I had a friend or family member in these shoes I would push as hard as I could respectfully to do what's right and try my hardest to keep him around. Seeing this is just a wake up call to me. The minute someone says "Man, I gotta quit this garbage" or "I'm always sick, I dunno why!?!?"

.....Whip out that Ecig and let em know how it REALLY DOES HELP!
