Yeah you are way off with those readings so even if it was 26 ga you would not get those readings. Do you know anybody with a multimeter?

I used to have one but don't know what happened to it so no, not right off hand. May have to get one though, I sent an email to the vendor because it is brand new wire and ohm meter. Not sure what other option than to get a multimeter, I suppose it isn't a bad idea anyway.

I put fresh batteries in it just now because it came with batteries in it and now it reads 1.23 ohm which still doesn't jive with anyone's charts that I have read so don't know what to think other than the meter must be off?

Edit: I just barely tweaked the coils and it dropped back down to 1.11 ohm. Not sure what resistance a SID will vape at (only mod until I get one of the others I have ordered), need to look that up, but when I tried it on there it says low load. Does this make any sense?

Not sure about the SID, when I had an eVic it it would say low for anything under 1.1 ohms

Thanks, I kind of figured it was down around or a ways above 1 ohm but wasn't sure and still need to check. This kind of reinforces that the ohm meter may be reading correctly however which is a complete mystery to me. I am going to have to look over things again. Is anybody else posting here using the tool I spoke of to wrap coils? I am using the second to the smallest mandrel that comes with it and it barely fits in my drill bit sizing tool that is marked 1/16 or 1.59 mm in diameter. I really can't imagine the issue unless this is incorrectly sized kanthal?

Yeah, I do. Are you wrapping a compressed coil where all the wraps touch? Later today I'll make a 10 wrap coil with 28ga and let you know what reading I get. All my current coils are with 29 ga. 12 wraps of 29ga comes in around 1.5 ohms.

Yes, they are.

I use 9 wraps compressed together with 28g and they all come in consistently at 1.1ohm if that helps.

Is that a dual coil at 9 wraps?

BTW, been in touch with the vendor I quoted and he is shipping me both new wire and ohm meter which is excellent service, will post when I get it what the results are, thanks very much for the help!

Wait, are you running a Dual coil setup? Dual coils cut the ohms in half. So when I put two of my 29ga 1.5 ohm coils in my Cyclone I get .76 ohms on a meter.

Yes, in original post, said dual coils, it is a Patriot clone and runs dual coils, haven't thought about trying to run one coil but it still doesn't make sense that two coils with 20 wraps each only yield 1.11 ohms. That just doesn't jive. I went clear up to 28 wraps but they are too big to fit in the rda so basically according to the ohm meter I have you can't wrap a dual coil setup with 28 ga that would work which doesn't make sense. That was my original need for help here, couldn't figure out what could be wrong. Vendor said it could be the wrong wire on the spool or the ohm meter could be defective so he is sending me replacement of both. I am guessing I just wait for that and try again.

This thread is for posts giving information on wire gauge used, number of coils, and ohms.

I have read every thread on here about the RM2 and other RBA's.

Since a lot of us are using the Micro coils we have been experiencing lots of questions.

Wanted this thread so everyone has a place to see what is being used and can decide what wire to buy. Also so they can have an idea of how many wraps to do to get the ohms they desire.

Please keep conversation to a minimum so people can quickly scan posts.

Please state your experience as follows:

Wire Type & Gauge:
Coil size (what you wrap it on):
Number of Coils:
Measured Ohms of coil:

Feel free to post multiple combinations! Some may like the low ohm and some the higher.
Thanks in advance to all who contribute!!

Thank you I looked every where and was late to work looking for it and still didn't find it lol

Karen knows where everything is.

Jimmy Hoffa, Amelia Earhart, the Holy Grail, the matches to all of the socks we have lost over the years... just ask her :)
