Now back to the dna 40 D. Have run many setups in drippers, kayfuns, and taifuns. I am trying to get all my notes together to post. 99% of my wicks have been with hemp fiber, excellent. All I can say now is thanks, to Brandon and Bap. This is a game changer. Like my supermarkets, it just gets better and better.:)

Since you've been beta-testing the dna 40, hopefully you can help cure my confusion. I'm familiar with nickel wire; I use it as NR wire to join with my resistance wire on my Sofia. I use the NR/R wire because the NR wire DOESN'T HEAT and melt the ceramic cup. How does using NR wire manage to heat the juice? It's called Ohm's LAW for a reason.

NM, I got the answer somewhere else. It's about regulating temperature, not resistance. This still begs the question: Is the number of wraps and/or the gauge now irrelevant?

Hmmmm

It's called Ohm's LAW for a reason.
Kind of snarky isnt it?

Ohms law does not address your so called NR/R coil. Calling NI200 "no resistance" is inaccurate. See this link. NI200 does indeed have resistance, it is just a much lower resistance than Kanthal. So in your so called NR/R coil what you really have is two very low ohm resistors (the NI200 legs) in series with a high ohm resistor (the Kanthal coil). Basic electronic theory will tell you that you will drop significantly more voltage over the high ohm resistor. Hence the Kanthal heats up long before the NI200 does when the two are in series.

Take NI200 by itself though, and the NI200 will indeed get hot as the current passes through it..

Yes, resistance is still an element, but not nearly as critical since you are now limiting by temp.

i did the same thing kata... there is going to be a shortage in the next couple weeks as people prep and in the coming months its going to get worse, as boards get out, and people see just what they can do...

someone should probably contact temco and explain to them whats going on so that they can prep as well :p

Gotta stock up. Less than 24 hours before the DNA40 specs came out, I resupplied all my Kanthal wire. I figure if I go all-in on the nickel wire, I might trigger the End Times.

I have to asked a dumb question. Non resistance wire must have resistance to heat up or what am I missing here. I missed all the fun and started vaping when that was going out of style.
