I think he ordered the roughed out one I posted...first and only print of it...hope he is handy! I should have one in a few weeks, but am side tracked on a DNA40 project.
Is that the DNA40 I saw a layout of on Sculpeto. Was surprised to see it there and not on shapeways or thingiverse.

I'm working on a squonker too. trying to keep a dna200 squonker on the small side is a huge challenge. mundy's idea of a half round bottle is a really great idea but I'm going with a standard 9ml full bottle on this one and still trying to make it smaller than a dibi

ok so maybe it's not quite smaller than a dibi but close... the dibi is very rounded, I'm much more squared. I'm actually not as wide nor as tall as a dibi but I'm a little thicker. the dibi is 50mm wide, I'm at 44mm. the dibi is 92mm tall, I'm at 87mm. the dibi is 25mm thick, I'm at ~33mm thick which I'm not thrilled about but somethings gotta give somewhere.

I'm also building this one as a modular design. the battery is replaceable and I'm also designing it that I could swap out to a thicker door and run an even bigger battery but in that configuration would add another 5mm in thickness to an already kinda thick mod. it'll be nice to have the option of swapping a bigger battery in there if I really needed to but I think mostly I'm going to run this with the smaller battery.

I can swap it out during the day if I need to and I'm planning on building docking stations for it so it can charge between uses. one dock in the car and one on my desk at work and one on my nightstand. I'm thinking if I dock it for my drives and periodically here and there I should be ok with it. the smaller batteries I'm using are 600 mah, I figure they should be about the same run time as the old 1,900mah we used to use over a year ago, a few dockings during the day should extend that quite a bit. the bigger battery that would add 5mm thickness is 1,000mah but 38mm is very thick, don't expect I'll really like it so much in daily use but having the option is nice I guess.

I'll try to get some pics tonight. the main body is african blackwood so I could make it nice and thin and still be strong. I'm using a 6061 billet aluminum insert to mount the chip and reinforce the mod and I'm using a titanium plate at the door attachment so it can be very thin yet still be very strong.

My Prints came from SW. they need a lot of work :( door's don't fit the slide rails are too thick, the buttons are real tight and too thick
It's just some sanding I don't feel like doing right now, I had a full week and just want to relax.
I knew when I ordered, It would be like this and I don't mind,Thanks BRD for the design
The one I ordered from Sculptoe is set for delivery Monday.
So after all the waiting and anticipation, Now that I have all my stuff in hand, I'm just too tired to build any thing.
Work has to take Priority. On a positive note it was a Profitable week $$$ :)

Inconceivable!

Wait, you're at 44mm? That's just about the width of Peter's latest little pinch mod, aka the humpin'.

Sculpteo highly recommended. I got my BRD unit from shapeways, and their version of polished did not compare to Sculpteo, plus I think it took about a week longer. I got it dyed, and I think I'll go for assembly tomorrow.

Mine from SW fit together, the door slid well. The buttons needed sanding, and the whole thing had some sanding needed to break down ridges. Let us know how the differences are between your SW and Sculpteo prints. Glad you had a profitable week.

Made some good progress today, it's finally starting to look like something! Decided to scrap the sled I was working on and use the screws I have even though they aren't really long enough. Still have to get the 510 in and wire it up, then a lot of tweaking to the buttons, touch up the brushed finish and such. I'll make new buttons later and will replace the screws with longer ones after I get them so the usb port will set flush. I used the shelf buttons and screw idea from VapingBad here I have the 1590G and the A, I have a Flight Power 800 mah for the A box, decided to build this one first because there is more room and this will be easier before jumping into a tight spaced mod like the A. Rest of the pics here

Yes there are LoL. When I put longer screws in the board will set deeper so I didn't want them to come up short. There is lot's of tweaking left, I'll be making new buttons from stainless later on, just want to get it up and running! :)

Thanks for the comments guys, lot of tedious hours setting there.

Oh, one tip I wanted to mention. In the second pic I posted, to the left of the mod you'll see the pin vise I have, like a screw driver with a tap vise on the end. You can use it for small taps or drill bits and do fine work with it. That's how I counter sunk the screw heads, slowly, carefully by hand.

Sitting down, facing forward.
Nice job, Willy, especially the window for the display. I'm still working on my DNA40 low mount tank model and did some work on it this afternoon. I changed the top cap for the extruded case from 1/16" aluminum to 1/8" aluminum so I can have a nicely rounded edge on the top. That made cutting the window hole a lot more difficult. I used my drill press as a mill and went really slow. It took some touch-up with a file but came out OK, not perfect but acceptable.

The next problem was the display was too recessed so I had to mill out the underside to leave a 1/16" space for the display. One thing always leads to another, somehow. Now I've got to cut the top cap down to fit the extrusion and round the edges and corners. After that, the major headache is making a battery door on the bottom. That will make the bottom cap a three piece design with the center section being hinged for battery access.

There are revised buttons up if you want to save the sanding.

Rails have been reduced, but you got in the first go (mine too). I used a sanding block to knock a few thousands off each side. All in all it was fast. The buttons I put in the holes in revers and just spun the fat end around till they seated (though the stand alone buttons are a bit smaller).

Yes...TruckerMSA and I have been mailing files back and forth so I put it up so he could help test it. I should have one Monday. It is probably very "alpha" but the plan is a very small DNA40 box with built in battery holder. It is a fun design and I have printed it in filament once.

Surprised you came across it!
