My approach to it has evolved to trying to get the temp as low as I can for a good vape and have settled on 380 F, which was hard with ribbon Ni on steel wicks, but I have got better at them and now down to 380 - 390 F. For me that keeps the flavour cleaner, more like it would taste if you tasted a drop of liquid on you tongue. It was tough at first and often had to use twisted 34 & 32 AWG wires to get there with dual coils. It requires spreading the heat more, more contact area EG 10 wraps at 400 F will make more vapour than 8 wraps at 400 F.

YMMV

I too am all TC now. I am interested in vaping as an alternative to the cigarette, so I want to avoid unhealthy byproducts. That said, I have come to enjoy a good vape and find myself looking for the perfect tank for TC vaping. Right now I think I have an affinity for dual coils for better juice flow and the 200 has the power to feed them.

I wanted to get into TC to keep the temperatures as low as I can well still giving a satisfying vape, I'm striving to make my vaping as safe as possible. One thing that I haven't yet found an answer to is the heat we draw into our lungs, is there a danger above a certain temperature? I remember hear many many years ago one of the harms from cigarettes was the heat drawn into the lungs, if my memory is correct it related to the heat transferring to the heart which rests next to the our lung. That may not be an issue, there may or may not be other health concerns with temperatures from vaping, I just don't know but I try to play it safe, well as safe as I can.

I've been vaping tanks with .15 nickle coils at 20-22 watts with the temp set 430-450. Most of the time my lite draw won't reach either those watts or temps and yet the tank will get hot, after some time the heat will transfer to the mod and the top 1/4 or so of the mod will get pretty darn warm and that bothers me. But the coils take a much longer time to gunk up then anything I have used to date, vaping two juices in two tanks and mods all day and night I get at least a week on a coil before it gunks enough to taint the flavor. It's the flavorings and additives that mainly gunk the coils, when I use to vape flavorless nic juice my coils would last much longer and they were the little kanger clearo coils I rebuilt. The gunking is another reason why I strive to keep the temps lower.

While the DNA 40 was a blessing, I feel the 200 with the settings it gives has given me the ability to make my vaping the safest it can be today, I don't think there is another board out there that can come close, none that I know of anyways. I vape so I won't smoke, I truly believe it has saved my life, I just hope we don't find one day that vaping wasn't as safe as we thought. But I'm willing to be a guinea pig for future smokers looking for a way to quit, besides, if nothing else vaping has extended my life because smoking was surely going to kill me, of that I have no doubt.

When my soldering station went down on me, I, in a fit of panic just ordered up another one from HK. Then I went to google and did some research (yeah, I know I did that backwards). Anyhoo, what I found was that the heating elements seem to go out on some of the units. So, when the new one got here I swapped out the new "wand" for the one on the old station. It works just fine. So then checking on the net I find the resistance values for the "wand" and my old one only has resistance readings on 2 of the 5 leads. Back on the net I find heating elements and ordered up some from China (3 for $9 shipped). They are now in L.A. coming my way. Will up date once they get here and I change the bad one out.

One way or the other, I am ready for the ERM+'s to be assembled!

Had a bit of a problem with my squonker. I tore it all down and found where juice had gotten to my DNA board. Closer inspection showed that where the juice "weeped" from the FDV V4 510, it then accumulated on the pos wire, where it was wicked up under the insulation and channeled to my board! Cleaned the board with some electronic spray cleaner and it seems to be responding like it should, it will go into my first ERM+ to confirm.

In the mean time I gotta get busy and build another mod so I can try my new Aromamizer in TC mode! I've been using it on my Evic Supreme but really want to give it a shot of TC.

Ya know, I've read all over and people keeps saying,"if they had only known about such and such when they first started vaping,,, yada, yada, yada". Well I'm now in that same boat! I think we all have gone thru the learning stages, and with all of the advances that have happened in just the last few months, it has changed my thought process completely. Before I was happy with supply on demand (squonk), and flavor with no real leaking factor (except the strange glances from my housekeeper with all of the paper towels laying around). NOW, I'm in for the TC and Aromamizer with NO leaking. :thumb: I would go as far as to say that right now its just the perfect combination for me. :) Will the next "Big" thing change my thinking? Who knows, right now I'm in a happy place. Thanks folks for all of the info that you have shared!

I really should clarify the leaking squonker statement. It's really easy to over-squonk, and drip attys as a rule don't hold much juice = over squonk and the need for a paper towel! I've even been able to over squonk my origens and they hold a lot of juice.
Yes, thats one of the reasons I never took to squonking....

Sitting down, facing forward.
I'd say more often than "once in a while".

Ever have one of those days? I was refilling tanks and my Big Fogger, on my DNA200, was losing output as well. So I decided to do a quick rebuild. Cleaned about a foot of 28ga Ti, annealed it so it could be wound properly (zivipf wire is a PITA). Installed the first coil with no problems, of course, but when the second one went in the leads of the first one squirmed out from under the screw. I ended up spending a half hour fighting with wire and screws. I did, finally, win the fight though and am vaping away happily.

Now, to add insult to injury, the person-person delivered the person and no Aromamizer :(

Oh well, maybe tomorrow will be a better day.

Good thing you did not get a flat tire or your driveway would be full.

Naw, keep a bike and an air compressor in the garage, just for "in case of emergencies". That bike has saved my bacon more than a few times!

I did sell my last car without a replacement at hand,,,, dang if that wasn't a bad move. Picture it, the middle of december and I caught a cold after riding the bike for 2 days, semi recovered and took the bike out for another errand and caught another cold. Was almost on my death bed and called a cab to take me to the car dealer, drove back home in the new one. Murphy was hanging at my place the whole time.
