Mini-Protank II Issues

Hello, Everyone. I am new to these forums, as well as to vaping in general. I've got an eGo passthrough (3.7v) and a Mini-Protank II (V2), as well as a couple EVODs. I really enjoy vaping, however after a couple puffs, the Protank starts producing a really nasty burnt flavor. I started out vaping a 70/30 PG/VG, 6mg wine flavor that I picked up from a local vape shop. About halfway through the tank, I could tell the flavor was definitely getting progressively worse, and by the time the tank was 3/4 done, it was too nasty to even vape. I went to re-fill it, and discovered that the liquid in the tank was substantially darker than the original liquid (Dark brown vs a light amber color). I figured I might just have a bad coil so I disassembled and cleaned the tank, then replaced the current coil with the spare that came with the Protank. I also filled the tank with a different liquid (a 60/40, 6mg watermelon flavor). Again, about 3/4 through the tank, the flavor was too burnt to continue vaping, and the liquid still darkened. Looking through the wicks at the light, there doesn't seem to be any darkened spots. I tried removing a flavor wick, which only resulted in the tank leaking and gurgling. I don't chain vape, either. I will take 5-10 puffs every couple hours or so. I figure if there's going to be an answer, it's going to be here. So after lurking for quite a while, I decided to sign up and join the community!

Thick E-liquid

Remove Base
Remove pipe from coil head(wiggle off)
Remove small piece of 1 flavor wick on top(Keep piece)
Assemble

Take SEVERAL power odd draws to pull e-liquid into Wick
Repeat power off pulls as needed until wick takes over on its own

If tanks starts to dribble - put removed wick piece back

Later

You do occasionally need to take unpowered, primer puffs on the tank to keep the wicks soaked. The Evod and Mini Protanks have the same coil heads, so my guess, it's an airflow issue if your Evods are working properly and the Protank isn't. Also, be sure that you are using genuine Kanger parts, not the knockoffs. The clone coils are apparently very bad. Good luck! I hope your problem is solved soon!

I was having similar issues... I was told at my local shop that some juices are more likely to cause it. I got about a quarter of the way through a tank before it started to look like caramel. By the end it was definitely burnt. It was a really thick, sweet juice. I tried flipping the silicone cap over, it helped a little. I tried removing a flavor wick and that helped a little, but I ended up flooding it. I tried power off puffs to prime it too, but I think I did that too much and flooded it again. One thing I found that helped was doing a dry burn before using the new coil. I took apart the coil head and removed the flavor wicks turned on the battery for just a second or two until the coils glowed. A little bad smelling smoke came off, I repeated this until the coil stopped smoking. I waited for everything to cool off then put it all back together the way it came. I've made it through two tanks without the wicks even getting dark. I've heard you can pop your coils or short your battery so be careful.

Hmm, I don't own a mini, I have 6 of the Original Protanks, 3 Protank II's and a couple Davide tanks, They all use the same heads, I like to remove the flavor wicks when dry and break them up, I add a strand at a time back in till it wicks right, laying them out in a thin line on top of my coil from side to side, I do this setup with only 1/4 tank of juice, Not sure if this will work the same in the mini but mine wick with no issues after i do it this way from full till the tank is empty, good luck.

Example... Pretend the letter "E" is the coil and "l" are the wicks... llEll I work my way in from each side before covering the coil wick.
