The Pit of Despair
I just watched Scott's review. I'd love to find a seperate rba that sets up like this without it being attached to a device. I'm not interested in trying to twist together R-NR-R wire like the penny or oddy. this build looks super easy but I don't want a hybrid.

Agreed. Dead-easy setup and it looks to be a leak-proof design. Make it in 17mm diameter and I'd really be happy. :)

Just an FYI, if you buy the Paps 2.1 top cap and remove the telescopic part of the center pin, it works perfect for a 510 cap with AW batteries. It did meter at only .01v loss as well :)

What about the button?? Has anyone tried the button?

Okay so my MISTer seems to stop wicking with silica when the tank gets low I open it up thinking its empty and theres juice is this just mine? Any fixes?

Give cotton/cotton balls a shot. I had a similar problem when wrapping with silica and ekowool on a low tank. I adjusted my build to a 9/10 microcoil on a 5/64 drill bit and proceeded to thread cotton ball through the coil and into the chanels.

"Silica hybrid" or not, I am in LOVE with this hyrid set up with a cottonball/microcoil and I'm impressed no one has mentioned it yet! (Typically how I set up my KFL)

I find that cotton (especially cotton
Balls) swells and expands with liquid. I can close my juice flow completely and get at LEAST a dozen good hits before it tastes even slightly dry.

I also do not run the leads of my wick all the way into the channels. I usually vape 100vg tobacco liquids (VCV) and shortening the wicks in the channels helps liquid soak the wick, even at a low tank volume ;)

The MISTer silica hybrid is a true KAYFUN KILLER.

Good luck friend!

This is something I was talking about on another thread; I do find that the MISTer can have wicking problems if it's set up the way it's supposed to be. i.e. wicks fully in channels. Opposite the review by Igetcha69, I find that this can be tricky to get working well, but when you do it's really great, and I use this more than anything else I have.

I'm sure cotton would work well. Personally, I'm too paranoid about burning so I stick with silica. But either way I agree that over filling the channels seems to be a problem. And I would suggest not having the wick in the channels too full as well as not having it too long.

It would be too hard to explain how I set mine up, maybe I'll take a picture when I get a chance, but basically I end up with four pieces of 2mm wick at the coil, so 8mm total, but less than 2mm of the wick, frayed up, going down the channels, and even then not going all the way to the bottom. Like this it wicks flawlessly, though I have had flooding if I lay it on its side when I have the juice control open a lot, but that's a relatively rare problem.

Sounds exciting! I'd love to see a pic of your set up. I have been on my Mister v3 for about 3 weeks now and have yet to burn any cotton. I find that I can notice before I ever come close to a dry hit. Especially with the condensed surface area with a micro coil ad the absorbency of cotton, it performs so great. I usually saturate the wick before I thread the juice control cap back onto the build area to prevent it as well. Give it a shot! I think you'll we pleasantly surprised.
I have done several uwick/microcoil (325,400) builds as well as silica (1mm, 2 mm, 2.5mm) and ekowool and cotton still takes the cake :)

Happy vaping!
