This one brings me back to the time when I got my drivers license, my first real girlfriend and my freedom from parents. I lived in a very small town with one main road, that I traveled a lot. Makes the song quite fitting.

I was envious of my friend when he told me that he'd been taken by his dad to see "Heavy Metal." As it was, the soundtrack became a regular staple on the weekends when we hung out. I did ultimately see the film, too, but I had to wait until it hit the discount theaters. Lots of good tunes on the record (my favorite is Veteran of the Psychic Wars by Blue Oyster Cult), but this song--the first track on the soundtrack--sets the stage for all of them.

Oh yes! I remember it quite well... Excellent soundtrack. First time I'd ever seen a cartoon set of...you know... Sammy Haggar did a great job on it too.

Ok, so I'm thinking "girl you know its tru" by milli vanilli. Because my friend and I used to make fun of them in high school. We saw a skit on in living color where they were spoofed so we video taped ourselves in spandex, wigs and barets immitating them in the most ridiculous ways. 1990. And yes I have it converted to DVD so the videos still exist. Lol

One of my first influences was Jimmy Page. I can remember sitting around with friends on guitars when I was 12, all of us playing broken attempts at "Stairway to Heaven". We finally got it though... and then one of my first girlfriends got sick of hearing it.
