#2 Just on a whim I decided to go to an audition for a singer for a local rock/alternative band. I didn't know what they'd want to hear me sing because it was a last minute thing so I didn't have their setlist to rehearse. So I brought my guitar with me and since I only play acoustic I sang/played "Into Dust" for them even though it wasn't the genre of music they played. They just stood there listening and I thought, 'this is a bad sign' but I didn't care, it was just a whim anyway. When I finished they cancelled all the rest of the auditions, 'hired' me on the spot and I ended up spending almost 10 years with them. Their temperamental bass player turned out to be the best friend I'd ever had. This song reminds me, "Life turns on a dime..." But sometimes in a good way :)

Very nice, Avid! And a guitar player to boot! I've been playing guitar for over 30 years....still gigging and playing 80's Hair-Metal, with not-so-much hair though.

Very nice song and story!

Light my Fire by the Doors.

Summer at my grandmother's summer home, and a guy I was madly in love with at the time. :) Life was so simple and happy that summer.

Nice song, Kathi!

It definitely seems that life was more simple and happy when we were young without a care in this world.

Thanks,

Bri

Stairway to Heaven
Who doesn't like Zeppelin. Plus Grandma thought it was a nice song.

Good choice! Funny you said that, my Mom thought Stairway was a pretty song.. but my cassette had Heartbreaker by Zep on it after Stairway...then she'd make me turn it back down.

As I child, I grew up listening to a lot of the music my mom liked: Buddy Holly, Chubby Checker, Elvis, Simon & Garfunkel, The Rolling Stones, and the Beach Boys. While I enjoyed listening to many of the songs, I'd have to say one of the earliest songs that meant anything to me was when I was in kindergarten. I was friends with a girl named Wendy, but she moved away in the middle of the school year.
