I took French all through high school so when this song came out I thought it was so funny to hear people sing along with it. Most of them didn't know that when they sang, "Voulez-vous coucher avec moi ce soir?" they were actually asking, "Would you like to sleep with me tonight?"

On a lighter note... I still have the 45 rpm of this song from when I was a kid!! I even used to have the instrumental part playing in the background on the OGM on my answer machine during Christmas time... icon_cool.gif

But I had a hard time finding the original clip from the TV show, since it seems that the one I had in my playlist had been deleted by Youtube... :(

(I almost overlooked this one because I thought it would be in Spanish... it's not!! :) )

For those of you who have been following along, you have seen me post a few songs that bring back memories of my Mother.

The 1st Christmas after she had passed, a friend of mine who lives in the building (and also knew my Mother) sent this song to me in an email, along with the story of her friend (John Chaffee) who had written it for his sister, after her losing a long battle with Cancer just a couple of months before Christmas... and had gotten the very talented Anne Cochran to lend her beautiful voice to his song.

A few years later, when one of my neighbors had passed away shortly before Christmas, I made a CD of the song for her Daughter and gave it to her at the Memorial Service.

And during the search for it on Youtube just now, I found that a lot of people had made, and uploaded, tributes to their family members using this song in the background...

The Holidays are a time for gathering friends and family around you, and also remembering the ones who are not there... whether they have gone on in their journey, or are just miles away... maybe even overseas fighting for our Freedom!!

What a wonderful, lasting tribute he has made for his Sister... and the ultimate PIF!!!

Thanks for sharing that with us, Kitty! :)

Many of us including myself can relate to your story. Yes...many have that empty spot at the table during this time. My God Bless them all and give them comfort!

Here is another from the 80's best......so many memories come from that time.......it's just like they say...it was the best of times and the worst of times...........I must have stayed up so many a nights watching these kinds of videos.......

Good one!

I notice we share alot of the same tastes in music...very cool. A very tasty guitar solo that was a $@##% to learn! There was something about that time frame that seemed so alive! At least my knee and back didn't ache then... We're really telling our ages too!

Actually, the story (as I know it) was that their record co. either wouldn't let, or didn't want, them to play with Zappa using their real names, so they became The Florescent Leech and Eddie... Flo and Eddie for short... :D

I got to meet them when they were playing at the County Fair here one year. My b/f at the time used to 'roadie' for them... nice guys!! Even gave us their tix for the rides... ;)

They lived in a neighboring town on one side of where I grew up, and Zappa lived in another one for a while... lot of good music around here in those days!!

(The Turtles even played at one of our H.S. dances (as did the Doors) but I was still in Jr. High at the time and couldn't go... :( )

And not a bunch of angry hate songs a howling goat kid wrote because his Mom asked him to clean his room...or took his Nintendo away. Shoot...I heard a band on the radio the other day that sounded like The Muppet's Swedish Chef singing! :facepalm:

For Christmas music, my favorite Christmas carol is silent night.

I always think about all the years I was so homesick at Christmas. One year, I finally got to go home. (Sturbridge, MA). My mother and I walked around the common on Christmas Eve, and the roads around it. (I grew up on the Sturbridge Common). It was quite warm, and there was a silent snow falling. The church used to play Christmas carol chimes in the evening.

We listened to the chimes, and looked at the Christmas lights on the houses as the snow fell silently around us. We made a stop at my aunt's house and visited with her for a while before going back to my mother's. Silent Night was one of the carols they played, and it fit that night so beautifully.

My mother has since sold the house in Sturbridge, and my father, grandmother and aunts down there have all been gone for a lot of years. When I hear Silent Night, I can never forget that magical night.
