Well I just got the fast tech Ithaka clone (short topic diversion) and I've got it set up on my MKB-TS, first issue being that the base only threads on about half way, but it snugs up and the airflow control cover snugs up to it when open all the way, which is how I like it anyway. I think I caused some flooding when I tightened down the collar; got alot of gurgling at the moment, but it does work fairly well, all these things considered. I have a Hercules coming in a week or so. I'm looking forward to comparing them. This unit looks really nice, being well polished. I think once I get rid of my gurgling it'll be working nicely. I can see it's going to be a small learning curve, but I feel pretty good about it do far. Anybody else unable to thread the base down all the way on the MKB?

If you're talking about the GGTS base, the bases thread all the way down on both of my MKB's, as well as the EHPro DHX-TS. I heard some folks had to chase the threads with something to clean them up. Hopefully one of them will come along to LYK how. :) Maybe a dental pick or small screwdriver to run around the thread grooves. Usually, if the gold top cap will thread down, the base should too.

My hercules screws in fine.. Sometimes I have to loosin the bottom tube to screw on the tank then tighten it back up

im part of the mkb-ts club now thanks to inganeer :p. couple little mods yesterday, removed the stock positive pin and floating pin from adapter and made a 2.5cm custon pin out of 1/8" brass rod that slips snuggly into the delrin in the top cap and still acts as a floating pin. then i swapped out the switch spring with a random gold colored cone shaped spring i gutted from a broken smoke telescope switch. its a little wider at the base and should solve the itermittent hot switch issue. snipped a few coils from the bottom spring (i'll test voltage drop with and without later on) and polished up all the contacts. im now able to run a kick in all battery configurations 18650/18500/18350 flush with no threads showing :). here she is in all her glory, running a smok rsst with fatboy drip tip... kind of looks like an oddy lol

No, I was talking about the base on the Ithaka clone, which the 510 connector and airflow control are on. I'll be working with the threads today, it sounds like a fixable problem.

Does it screw down all the way into the MKB-TS's collector tank? If you totally remove the 510 base, you can directly screw the Ithaka clone into the MKB-TS, (remove the gold top cap) and use it's AFC.. I'm sure you know that already though... I was just thinking that if you are using the MKB-TS, why mess with the 510 base at all...

I prefer the ggts base... Feels a lot more sturdy and looks awesome :)

I guess I worded it unclearly. I only mentioned the 510 base to identify the threading I was using..I hope that makes sense. No it does not screw all the way down into the MKB-TS's colletor tank.

If it were me, I'd wait until your Hercules comes in... It may have something to do with the threading on the Tobeco FastTech clone, and not your MKB-TS... I figured you knew all the other info.. I just posted it anyway to possibly help others out. :)

That's what i thought, thanks Techno. i thought I'd try working with the FT clone's threads a little, if I see anything out of the ordinary. Thanks for helping me clarify.

The problem with the GGTS threading on the MKB-TS and the Fasttech Ithaka clone it caused by a little sub-standard threading on both of them, but very easy to correct.
In the photo of the MKB collector tank I should have used the Sharpie to mark farther to the left side of what I have marked, I have removed more than necessary but you can use this to get an idea of the location of the interference.

I guess I got lucky with both of my MKB's... The GGTS bases, and Herc thread right down on them... :)

On my GG collector tank everything screwed in just fine but on the MKB all I could get was 3/4 turn before locking up until I corrected it. All was fine until FT clone arrived and it was kind of tight but was easily chased with a three sided jeweler's file in a couple of minutes.

I have purchased 3 MKB's and all three had this problem.
If you recall when they first came out it was said that the collector tank needed replaced with a GG one to mount GGTS bases, that is why I have a GG collector tank.

I always disputed what MOV said of needing the GGTS collector tank since GG bases fit my MKB's fine. Here's a pic of one.. (They both are about the same) When my camera battery charges, I'll post one of the EHPro Tobeco DHX-TS.. THAT threading is rough, but still fits the bases and Herc well. Like I said, I just must be lucky... :)
