Hey guys I got something weird happening on my beige leather couch from my mods lately and cannot figure why....when I hang on my couch, I sometimes prop a couple mods an arm lenght away on the couch, basically resting against the back cushion, so they don't fall over, but now I notice they leave a mark and it doesn't really come off...it's not like it's juice or anything or like it's scratching them, they just make this dark mark from simply sitting there...it basically takes 5 minutes of heavy scrubbing just to lighten it up...well I stopped doing it, but cannot understand what's causing it....it's basically the bottom of my mods doing it, but there's nothing coming off of them if I rub it...they are aluminum mods and perhaps there's a reaction?

Sounds like stated above, a reaction. Is the mod painted, anodized or powder coated. Anodized and powder coated items can react with organic material. Probably has to do with the mod's finish and whatever the couch was tanned/treated with or if you use a conditioner on the leather.

I had a car that ended up with green streaks on the tan leather. I eventually realized it was the conditioner I used on the seats reacting with the rivets on my jeans.

As far as I know it's straight aluminum. I noticed it with the nx75-a mods. Here is the weird one though, I have another mod and this mod has a nickel finish, it's a stratum lux, but it had a leather sleeve on it and it left the biggest mark this morning. ..I mean it's very weid.....my wife is flipping out and is blaming our dog for sneaking up on the couch....I have to tell her it's not him, but my mods ......I'm going to put one on it soon and check it every couple minutes, because it's weirding me out

Use a towel for now I guess.
Yepp......I just noticed that in both those mods, the positive end of battery goes down, I wonder if it's some kind of electrical current reacting with the aluminum? It's literally a line on the couch from the bottom edge of mod

That’s really odd. I have a leather couch as well but all my mods except the Miniken 2 are coated/painted. It’s weird that it will scrub off too.

Current seems unlikely unless the mod is firing. Even if it was a pure mech, positive down would mean the case would be connected to the negative side through tbe coil unless the button was pushed. What mods, Vap?

If they are finished in the raw, look like bare metal. Then they may have just been clear coated. Paint or clear comes off best at edges and of course the bottom since it has contact with other surfaces.

Could be the mod reacting with cleaners on couch or possibly sweat/oils from your hands causing the reaction to start.

EDIT: Basically oxidation/tarnishing

Last time I visited @vapdivrr for a Biker Club meeting, I was riding my hog down the hall to the guest room. My Go-Pro mounted to the sissy bar caught this image. Trust me folks, I think it's the house....

All my stratums have the yihi chops and all are positive side down..I also have a couple aspire nx75-a that are positive side down. I think it's because they are very small single 18650 mods and maybe something to do with tight spaces and with positive side down its easier to make room for the chip? Not sure
