Hey people, Please could you give me some advice on which mod will be most suitable for me. So far, Ive narrowed it down to GGTB, The Don, or a Silver Bullet.
If cash wasnt an issue, I think Id lean towards a provari or GGTS, BUT, unfortunately cash IS a BIG option! I want something that I can use every day, and that will last me a while. I love the fact that both the GGTB and the Don are mechanical so (hopefully) less issues with faults. However, the things putting me off the GGTB are the tarnishing issue, and the fact that it doesnt take 18650's (is that right? lol) and I read here that only AW batts fit which are obv. more costly. The Don therefore seems more versatile, however, issues I have are whether the Don will last, and if it is as well made as the GGTB (who offer that 'lifetime' guarantee). As for the SB, Ive heard pretty much all good about it and the only issues I really have is that I dont think it has a lockable switch (though I know button is recessed), the fact that it isnt all mechanical, and again, the guarantee period.
Please could you guys help me out, as I really wanna make a purchase today if poss. I also wondered if there are any issues with any of these mods and juice leakage, carto, and atty adapter compatability, as they are also concerns I have. Help me - All my Riva batts are on their last legs and I NEED a Strong new shiny !! Cheers in advance guys

Not what you asked for, but I figured I'd offer an opinion.

The least expensive way to get what you want is to buy what you want rather than upgrading to it. If you wanted a Darwin the thing to do would be keep whatever you've got running and save your boxtops rather than upgrading to something that's less than optimal and eventually buying what you want.

If you want a Provari or a GGTS then buy one - until then, Riva batteries are cheap ;)

I'm an amateur musician with rather limited talent and could have saved myself many thousands of bucks by just buying what I wanted instead of trying to save a few bucks getting something less-than-optimal and upgrading through several systems before getting to the place I wanted to be.

Give it some thought - fix the Riva and save your pennies for the Provari ;)

I have not owned a silver bullet. I have owned a GGTB and a don. The GGTB wasn't bad but at the higher voltage you have to run HR atties or the juice tastes burnt. It's well built and solid. I don't know about the "new" dons I have one of the first ones that came out. It was not exactly great. The threads are so tiny that they stripped. The spring is a joke. It's way to small to last. The locking button no longer works right. I can't feel were it's at and when I find the spot to make it unlock it only stays for a second. So I adjusted the spring and disabled the lock and now I have a don without a locking button that can only run a 18650. It also does not give as big a hit as a cheap box mod does. I own a GLV but it has the same issue as the GGTB.

So far my favorite mod by far is a simple box mod running 3.7 with LR atties that you can make yourself for 9 bucks.

I agree 100% with wizard...stick with what works for now until you can afford a Provari. Ive spent thousands on mediocre mods until I finally bit the bullet on my Vari, and it was worth every penny. If you have a Riva, the Smok branded 900mah batteries can be had at madvapes for $10 each...boge cartos regular and low resistance are under $20 shipped for 15 at crystalclearvaping.com. Get what you want the first time...to save yourself from buyers remorse, I sure wish I did.

I agree with tj. Even if you pick something else, have the SB as your backup.

SB was my first PV, then I bought stuff, then other stuff...SB is in my hand at the moment. Other stuff is in my zombie apocalypse coffee can with some juice that smells like my trashcan does when the liner springs a leak, on a hot day.

I would have recommended the GGTB -- but it has been phased out.:( The new GG stealth has replaced it fwiw. The only thing I counsel to what kind of mod you will buy is the styles (boxes and tubes), and electronics (mechanical (simple) vs. VV(quality matters), and if you want a feed system or tanks. I liked my SB, the Don didn't excite me, and I am a GG fanboy for sure but it ain't a cheap habit to get into and the tank that you would want won't be available for 3 weeks -- but I would also tell you to consider the GLV2 if those are the ones you are considering now.:)

I know you mentioned you wanted to go inexpensive.. however there lies the rub.. IMHO I feel that if you buy inexpensive that is what your going to get... then several months down the road your back at square one.. I traveled that path also.. looking for the best "Deal" then decided to suck it up and buy the GLV-2 from Great Lakes Vapor... yeah it is a bit pricey but the quality is well worth it.. plus if your having to replace PV's on a regular basis then the investment is well worth the cost..
I bought my GLV-2 with all the bells and whistles plus tax and shipping set me back $150.00 but that was a year ago and it is still going as strong as it was when I first fired it up *Knocks on Wood* :p This is just my 2 cents worth... hope I didn't step on any toes...

I can only speak of the one I know on your list. The SB by AltSmoke is well made, usually in stock and service/support is outstanding. I've purchased the AltSmoke BB, Omega and SB. The Omega and SB vape very similar. The SB's button is more comfortable for me than pressing the plunger on the Omega. If you decide to move on to something else you can sell it in the ECF classifieds for most of what you paid. Not many SB owners part with that mod. Good luck on your search finding the perfect one for you.

Go for the Silver Bullet. It's a classic with a sterling reputation. There's a reason it's the modders mod. It is extremely well built, built like a tank. I've been through many mods and it's my favorite. I use it with a 4.8 volt NiMH battery and it's awesome! It's really satisfying at 3.7 volts as well. You may buy other mods in the future but you'll never regret buying the SB.

Hey guys thankyou so much for all your help. I think Im gonna wait a while and go down the 'get what you really want' route. I have been offered a GGTB cheap so I must admit it is tempting, but Im putting a SB on my Santa list and gonna save pennies for the Provari. It's so helpful to hear real opinions, rather than just write ups about different models which makes them all sound amazing and gets me mega confused! I havent heard enough good things about the Don TBH, so Ive struck that off my wish list (for now). Ultimately, I just want a workhorse (that looks pretty!), and the SB fits the bill, and I dont think Ive ever heard a (valid) negative thing about one. However, what I 'really' want is the Provari, so Im gonna restrain myself and save for that. Fingers crossed, by the end of the year I'll have both !!!!
