I wouldn't blame smok if I were you.. any mod could misfire after dropping it.. just don't be so clumsy next time, lol.. but there is nothing wrong with Smok.. especially their tanks, and I love my 220 watt Alien but I don't plan to drop it either, then blame Smok because it doesn't work after I dropped it LOL
I really don't care for Tesla..they spend more money on what they call "artwork"than a quality chip in the mod.. 120w isn't enough for guys like me who consistently vape at a 160-200w with tanks like Smok Cloud Beast King rated up to 300w. but it's like what I believe you once told me, to each his own bro. The Tesla nano 120w is one of the better regulated mods I've seen.
Great chip set with almost zero lag when you press play (important to me).
Has an actual on/off switch, no 5 clicks to wear the button out.
Spring loaded stainless steel 510.
Tesla has a fantastic track record for quality considering they are a Chinese clone company.
120w is plenty for 2 batteries, and the only reason anyone would need more wattage is to fire a huge mass of metal in some exotic build which is cool looking, but inefficient and unnecessary.

Know your gear.
Vape safe.

I looked at a Tesla 120 at my local vape shop picked it up in my hand, felt bulky and heavy compared to the Alien...artwork looked like what a pimp would vape in a cheap New Orleans whorehouse, (least it did to me) with only 120w available and can only fire down to 0.18 ohm and being so heavy it definitely wasn't the mod for me.. I know my my gear bud and what works for me is mods that are 200w+ and can fire down to 0.1 ohm.. I'm not a tootle Puffer, have been vaping the smok series Cloud Beast tanks between 120-200w all the time.. I like 3 and 4 battery mods personally, but I really like the 220w Alien seen here..
Its a light and compact 220w mod I can carry in my shirt pocket like down to the casino and I'm trying to win some money, I have people compliment me all the time on it.. so yeah bro I know my mods and what works for me.. if you like Tesla by all means go for it..

Its heavy because its not made of plastic.
;)
The chip fires better than the rx series mods or anything ever made by Smok.

The 510 is light years better than anything from Wisemec.

Learning how a coil relates to power is the key.

Only exotic artsy builds require 200watts.

As far as the asthetics go, its a Chinese mod...lol.
Chinese modern style is usually Disco Elvis meets Dollar store.

My point is, the Tesla nano 120watt is a good mod for the money.

Experience better than guessing.

I have been resorting back to the metal boxes(Steampunk, Charon, and Etalien) I know they are heavier but I feel that they are made better. I have had no issues with their 510 or firmware. I still have my Alien and Captains because I like them. They feel cheaper but they work. So heavy or not as long as they do what I need them to I don't really care. This seems to be a dead thread.

Ok, a video you can use to take the AL85 apart is on YT. And, if you want further such info, search for "mod strip and polish" sorts of vids. I have a feeling you wont be able to find the problem so easily. Does SMOK have any sort of service center? Can you take it back where it came from for help? I think its like a phone, you drop it, it becomes weird and stays that way until you throw it away. Some people have great luck and find an obvious problem and I hope you are one of them.

it is a dead thread for opinions vary depending what different people want from a mod.. everybody seems to be opinionated on this thread and that's cool.. [emoji12]

I never plan to drop my e-cigs, either. Since it *just happened* to the OP, I will drop my two cents and state that I DO actually plan to drop my e-cig, repeatedly. Well, it's not exactly planned, it just happens :) So, I'd love that steampunk thing, but wouldn't actually be able to use it.... When I look for vape stuff I search really hard on durability as I'm incredibly clumsy.... (Kangertech, you and I are in a toxic relationship and I've had to fire you, LOL) I've also been known to put rubber seals around my tanks that are pure glass, no protection (though it does take more to shatter them than you'd think) and I appreciate my Nautilus X and IPV-5, as they're... durable.

I would make sure to include that in your search paramaters, once you get a spare, but hey, that's just me. I'd rather be safer than sorry. If I am going to buy the Tesla, I am going to scratch it up rather badly in about 2 months and then just be dismayed.... Regardless of price. Dismayed, given that it will look horrid.

At least I'm not burning the heck out of my favorite clothing anymore, so there's that!
