Yeah right, I would never dare do such a thing. But I did get a Grand that would fit two batteries. Never thought I would get a VV Grand but one night it just came to me. Didn't see the color type that I wanted so I PM'd Robert. Said I wanted a black wrinkle with silver vein door, he said no problem, & it was east as that!

Can't wait to puff on this bad boy!

I swapped out the stock bottle for an ever so slightly larger one, 7.5ml. Thought about bigger but didn't want to have a bottle that would be a very tight fit. I'll see how this one works over time.

Hmm... black wrinkle and silver vein :toast:

What, exactly, is adorning that handsome devil?

If that is a homemade Ti atty I am gonna.. be inspired.

Now you know what I meant by my post in your thread. ;)

Good eye, yes, it is Ti 6Al4V but not a scratch built atty. It's the very first Phoenix v4/ERA clone that I modded with a juice well, bottom feed, & dual coils. I decided to finally revisit it. Since I had sealed the side air hole cause I made the atty bottom air feed I made a new top cap for it without an air hole. The drip tip is also Ti.

I second Thedan about that setup... I scolded my coils after seeing that, telling them why can't they be more like those, which you should never do, you know. It's not their fault, it's mine.

On a side note how does the wrinkle/vein finish do as far as dings and scratches. I imagine they hide blemishes a little better than solid anodized colors? Or is that just my imagination? I wanna get the hammer tone 2.1 :D

Thanks everyone! :toast:

What gague/ohms did that come out to?

Thank you!

They're 30 awg Kanthal. Each one is 16 wraps @ 1.6Ω, came out to 1.33Ω total. I'm an idiot, I totally forgot I was building for a VV & made the resistance too low. Each one should probably be 4-5 wraps more or I should have used 32 awg. I didn't even realize until it started cutting off when I got above 4.5V.

I'm so used to side ait holes now that I had forgot what it feels like to have a gurgling atty on a bottom feeder. It's more airy than my usual preference but it could use more air flow (and I can adjust that on this one). It gurgles quite a bit on the first drag or two because of how I made the bottom air feed channels. Hits decent if I take lung hits which I normally don't do all the time.

Unfortunately I don't like it that much because of the gurgle. So unfortunately this build is going to go back into storage again. I'm going to keep the Ti RBA cap/drip tip, drill a side hole for it, & just mod another base with a juice well & go single coil.

Never had an anodized one so not really sure. Only my Mini 2.1, which is what I carry every day, has two very minor scuffs on the back). Only noticeable at certain angles. I would say the wrinkle is pretty durable but than again I don't abuse the things that I cherish & of course my Reos I do. No issues at all with the vein finish, I assume it would probably hide scuffs even better. I'll try to snap a pic for you later.

I'm not sure if these finishes are powder coat or paint. I'm thinking they are powder coat but I did manage to scratch through the wrinkle on the bottom of my Grand when it fell on my metal bed frame. It's was only a very small scratch though. Used a paint pen to fill it in & can't even tell it's there. Because of that I'm thinking it might just be paint. Whatever it is I really love the finish on them that Rob does. Definitely quality & my standards are always high.

And DZ says he is not a good photographer. The quality of your pix is off the chain bro.

Haha, thanks brotha! But in all seriousness, I'm no photographer. I barely know the basics & use P&S cameras. I wish I knew more about photography. Heck I don't even consider myself a machinist, I just pretend. :D

I made up another atty today, again with a juice well, this time with a larger single 30 awg @ 2.22Ω, positioned the coil up high, & drilled an air hole on the Ti cap. Just to see I squonked the hell out of it & there was no way it would flood the coil as you can see below.

I had one of my usual juices that I was starting to get bored of so I thought I'd try it in the VV, damn, never have so much flavor like that before! I'm not used to the button placement but I'm sure I will get used to it in no time as I can't put this thing down! It's a different vape than the mechs & I still prefer the mechs more but this one is definitely a keeper! :D

Ok, ok, I'm at the point where I'm pretty damn happy with my setups so nore pics for a while. Yeah right, who am I kidding, that won't last long, I can never leave well enough alone.

You guys are all the same too. ;)

hmm... weird, I typed in www . darkzero . com

as it turns out the address is for sale (cheap!) hint, hint ;)

ok ok, I'll stop

That's cause you typed in the wrong address. :p

If/when I run out of atties then......hmm, I still have 10+ of these that haven't been opened yet. Yeah I know they're straight up clones but I paid less than $5 ea for them to start out which just might give me some ideas when I get through with them. Maybe ;)

Wow it looks stellar! Any tutorial on making those beautiful coils? Can't really get the legs nearly as good as yours. Somehow they looks machine made. The top cap is amazing, I'd totally be into buying one ;) great work

Thank you. Sorry, I have never made any tutorials. Ater I wrap the coil I place the coil in the area I want it to sit on they atty, then eyeball & bend the leads in the direction leading to the holes. Next time I make a coil I'll take a pic of how the leads look like before I mount it.

What is that Atty and where does one get 1?

If you mean the whole thing, unfortuantely it's not a production atty. It started out as a Phoenix v4 (ERA clone) that I drilled the center post for bottom feed, changed the screws to SS, machined a juice well, and machined my own Ti cap & drip tip. The cap was made just last week.
