they both from the UK small machines forum was linked to totaly wickeds forum: now it seams to be only TW`s forum and i dont see the small machine forum at all. this forum was here, usa and i stopped going to smf for a while, because this forum exploded sunddenly it was pretty cool, lots of different mods for lots of different things. the SD forum has a sub forum for refugees from smf, this forum has posters from the orginal smf or viceaversa. garry dibbly ( the web site owner, that i posted) does a lot of mods on video and there pretty good. i think he knows igetcha69 as friends, not sure though. i`ll find the original small machines fourm, i mean where would they go, besides here and this is only e-cig.

they seem like good guys.

i never visit the vendor forums - so that's all news to me!

i kinda suprised you are in england and the small machine forum was/is in the uk, and i did not think it was a vendor forum, but now that i think about it where would these guys get such really cool things to play with...
anyway i am just waiting for nerf`s connecters to arrive and mod my brains out and read everything here to add to what i think i know and learn more.

ah i see it was simple machine forum and is the basic frame work for the TW forum

and back to mogur original post is a mosfet a power limiter?

A power(ful) transistor.

A standard transistor is basically a current amplifier wheras a FET (Field Effect Transistor) is like a voltage amplifier; and can more easily be used like a switch. Though of course, good performance needs good design.

Sadly, I doubt one could even 'sell' 100 of these. So primarily do this for yourself and if it gets bigger that will be a welcome bonus. I'm happy to help out :)

No. This is not a project I want to invest in, or sell. I am testing the interest level for a community project. I don't want to spend time designing, programming, and buying parts just for myself. I have fun modding and I have fun playing with the science of these things. I am retired and want to stay that way. Without much interest in participation from others, I'll just drop this whole thing in a heartbeat.

I'd rather take an acrylic tube and make a 'visible ecig' with an LED lightshow. Now where did I put that jacob's ladder?

mogur - i feel you are a great guy and a friend, and as such my advice is to think a bit more commercial about this; it will still help people but you also can get some small reward for your efforts (and that will keep you motivated). Because it is for sure that otherwise others will profit from all your hard work. It's a pity, but it's the way of the world.

Any ideas I have I generally give out free and I hope manufacturers do the things that i suggest would be good to do. But I'm not going to do their implementation work for free when they make big profits and i will get nothing!

If it's something easy for other modders to do, is of wide appeal and would be of little commercial value, then I put it all out here. Perhaps the PCB is in that category, but be a bit careful my friend.

That PCB is a great idea!! I too would be interested in it. It would simpify mods and allow for easy connections especially if connections are made so that it's "plug and play", similar to how batteries are connected to cordless phones. This way if the circuit board frys for some reason it can easily be replaced without resodering. Just one question, won't juice leaching in the board damage it? I guess that's something to consider in the design. I for one would like a battery level indicator, and something to let the user choose between 3.7, 4.5, 5, and 6 volts if using batteries supplying more than 6 volts.

Jacobs ladder, oh my goodness dog...... For love the love of all things that run on DC, call it the Tesla Cig if you ever make one.....

IE: "Hold on while I heave on my Tesla for a bit....... What do you mean the arcs? No no it's cool, it's the amps that kill you not the voltage....."

Grin at Shaik. Yeah, I don't have much hair because I licked too many Van de Graf generators. (Or, I grew too tall for my hair.) My ears make a great jacobs ladder, though. I wonder if Obama likes alligator clip earrings.

Thanks, Tom. I think that (as I come out of the clouds) a board with the bare minimum might be doable. The main motivation I had was when I had to french a charger board into an AA box, along with the switch and LED into another miniscule box. That mod, unfortunately, had an umbilical cord between the two boxes. The biggest gain, I think, from a circuit board would be to get the charger, switch, LED, and atomizer connector all in a single AA bay next to a 14500. Then, a dual AA box could act both as a standalone and a passthrough. When you snatched it off the usb cable, it would always be charged. And you wouldn't need 1 amp out of your computer, just enough to top off the 14500 cell. At least, that's what I would like to see.

Yes, that would be about perfect :)

Microprocessors, FETs and such can come later.
