I decided to get myself some clones of some popular drippers and do some practice modding to BF. Here I have a Mephisto clone and a Quasar clone which I modded in two different ways

Modded dripper to BF

I first marked the center positive post of the Mephisto where I want the juice hole and then removed the post from the dripper and put it in the clamp under the drill press. I drilled it from the bottom up as far as I marked it.

Now this particular dripper has probably the thickest posts I've ever seen on any dripper so I decided to try notching the post on each side with a dremel wheel instead of drilling straight through for juice to come out on the deck each side. This actually proved to be a really good idea because it was much easier than drilling.

Modded dripper to BF

Works really good and supplies an equal amount of juice each side of the deck and drains back to the bottle great

I removed the center post of the Quasar which was solid SS after measuring and set it up in the clamp in the same way. I found that this post was really hard to drill even with cobalt drill bits so I decided to notch it instead of drilling.

Modded dripper to BF

It was very easy to notch with a dremel once I had it clamped in the bench clamp. Gave it a light sanding after I notched it and re-installed in the dripper.

This too works great and drains perfectly so frankly the notching way of doing the conversion is much easier with just a dremel and a clamp than drilling.

I've ordered a Plume Veil clone as well to convert which I'll put up for you when I get it done.

Nice work. Lately I've been using a lazy method, previously mentioned in other threads, but it took me a while to get around to trying it. I use a 1mm drill bit, leave the center post in place, and drill from the top down through the center post insulator. I do 2 holes, one each side. You need to be careful when you get to the bottom though because usually there is not enough room for the drill bit to exit without removing metal, so I stop when I touch the metal.

Another unrelated tip, is if you want to drill through the center of the positive pin from the bottom up, you can screw on a 510 adapter, one with the hole though it, and this centers your drill bit on the center of the pin, to get it started. I noticed you got yours centered nicely CaptSteve, but just thought I'd mention it for others.

Why hadn't I thought of that

I did a quasar yesterday, and when I pressed out the pin the black insulator came with it, and I couldn't get it off the pin. I wound up cutting a groove in the insulator, which worked fine. The pin is quite hard, I gave up after breaking two bits off drilling from the bottom, and made little more than an 1/8" progress. Very nice atty, when all is said and done. I also did a caterpillar, which was much softer. That also performs well, but it looks pretty huge on a grand.

Extend the center pin a little lower
Will give it a try. It's in there good and will take some time. Wish I could get this to work because I could manually Drip from the TOP for juice testing. If the juice is worthy of moving to the big bottle and RM2... I'll do it. If not, I can use the eGo's. Just don't want to mess up the 510 connection in my Reo.

Update:
After pushing the center pin out, I was able to get it to work. She fires up like a spark plug! But I've determined using a top Dripper is not worth the troubles you have to go through when changing out. There will be juice everywhere. The Reo Grand was designed for Bottom Feeding atomizers -- not for Top Feeding. For Top feeding Drippers, I recommend using tube mods; Vamo's, Provari, or eGo Twist batteries. Much easier to deal with.
