I don't think that would be necessary. The only part coming into contact with the bacteria from your mouth is the drip tip. This is why vape shops can have tester setups and just hand out mouth guards so everyone can try while still keeping everything clean. Once the juice gets vaped by your atomizer, the heat kills any bacteria so the only areas that need to be continually cleaned (few times a week) are the parts that touch your mouth. Even if some saliva makes it down into the carto, the heat from the atomizer should kill any bad bugs. Just my :2c: . That being said, I dont think you could ever be too clean. I sterilize my glass and SS tanks in boiling water every few weeks because I am a clean freak and i have learned too much about the importance of sterilization while i was a nurse

If the bacteria that is causing a mouth sore is coming from the drip tip that only touched my mouth, doesn't that mean it is coming from my mouth? So I'm a little "fuzzy" on how it being on the drip tip is causing the problem.

Two things
1: bacteria can continue to develop and outside of the mouth it isn't regulated by your body's other bacteria or white blood cells, etc. Once in my college biology class we wiped our mouths and put it in a petri dish. Two weeks later ... lets just say that the results were scary.

2. Because my grandfather had this problem with a cigalike that has replaceable cartridges I don't think it was a bacteria.

3bet is correct WV2win. In response to your other post about your grandfather, I do believe that the sores could be the body detoxifying itself and with all those toxins released into the system it could lower your immune system enough to get mouth sores more easily. As for a PG reaction I think it could be very possible too. The list of ailments from PG sensitive people is strange and doesn't seem to follow a pattern. It wouldn't surprise me to hear it also increased the likelihood of getting canker sores or cold sores. All i know is once i started cleaning my tips regularly, i stopped getting them. It also couldve been my body being finished with detoxing and my immune system went back to homeostasis. TBH i don't know. But it cant hurt.

Maybe you could set your grandpop up with a VG vape set and see if he will try that

I don't know for sure but i will say i dont think it has anything to do with getting juice in your mouth. A few years ago i tried chewing tobacco to quit smoking and i never got mouth sores. Seems like if anything would give me mouth sores it would be a nasty wad of GMO tobacco. Like i said though. i'm just throwing darts here

O ok. I'll have to do some research on the body detoxifying. Thanks for the leads. I'm just looking for some leg to stand on when I try to talk him back into vaping since I've had so much success with my APV. You have definitely converted me into washing my driptips :) I'm a week into vaping with lots of driptips; so I haven't had to clean them yet (well not since I got them). I'm going to wash them right now lol. Thinking about that petri dish was a good reminder.
I guess I need to find a VG juice I think he might like and persuade him into it :vapor:

My girlfriend had this issue, and it happens to a lot of people when they quit smoking. From what I read on the internet, I got her some Lysine tablets, which are located with the vitamins, and some Listerine. You have to get the yellow, yucky tasting Listerine. After a few days of taking the Lysine and rinsing, the ulcers went away. She showed the doctor the bottle of Lysine and told him she was rinsing with Listerine, and he said that is exactly what she should do,

Glad to hear youre a week strong. Not sure where in Ga you are but there is a great shop in the atlanta area called Vaperite. You might be able to coax him into going there. They have a vape bar where you can sample all their flavors.

All this conversation has made me go wash my drip tips again too lol:oops:

Lysine is a great amino-acid for this. Don't be afraid to super dose that stuff. I know people that pop them like candy with a cold sore. I mean they take like 2 thousand mgs a day. Anything that the body doesn't use it just flushes out through urine.

A week strong and no analogs since I got my vapemail :) I'm almost exactly in the middle of the state. The closest B&M to me is an hour away according to Home - ECF E Cigarette Store Locator :( So I have yet to go in a B&M.

Yeah I even gave L-lysine to my cat when he had skin irritation. Good stuff

Just give it another week. At the rate they are popping up, you should have a B&M in your front yard within 5 days. (brick and mortar, not bowel movement )

So are you guys talking about cold sore just on and around the outside of your lips?? Or are you talking about a sore or blister INSIDE your mouth?
I havent vaped yet and id really like to be informed on this.
If its a cold sore has anyone tried abbreva?

Inside your mouth. Google "Aphthous Stomatitis". Your basic run-of-the-mill canker sore

Frozenhill explains a little better in a previous post

Don't let it scare you away from vaping Kobe. It isn't very common and i can see how this thread would make it sound horrific.

Hygiene is important but claiming that everybody who suffers from mouth sores brought it on themselves by not cleaning their drip tip religiously is really kinda weird. And saying “Clean your drip tips on a regular/daily basis and you won[‘]t have any problems,” is not true. Many folks have reported a sensitivity like this and I certainly don’t think all of them are unhygienic slobs.

Kobe, mouth ulcers are a common symptom of tobacco withdrawal and is sometimes exacerbated using nic gum and/or ecigs. You can read more about it here.

There were more than a few times that i stated "i don't know" and "this is my opinion

There were more than a few times that i stated "i don't know" and "this is my opinion" and "this is what worked for me" so your use of the term "claiming" is more than off. I never said you wont ever have any problems ever.... ever never ever. I simply said "this is what worked for me"

but thanks for your 2 cents

Peroxide mixed 50/50 with water (even as low as 30% peroxide / 70% water) is God's gift to man for mouth sores. It doesn't burn nearly as much as mouth wash does, and after the stinging stops, the sore is left totally free of pain until you get germs built back up in your mouth. This stuff really makes healing a mouth sore much easier to cope with!

I thought I had strep throat and then my lips have pealed at least 6 times and I got that horrible crack at the side of my lips. As far as I can tell right now, I can only use chocolate and cappuccino. I refuse to give up and go back to smoking. I would love to hear what other folks with allergies have to say. I thought PG was the one that causes most of the problems but when I looked at the ingredients it seems VG was the dominant ingredient. Anybody else have this problem?

The oldest and still one of the most effective remedies for mouth sores, gum irritation, etc. is a salt water rinse. Especially effective right before going to bed.

About 1/2 tsp of salt in a cup of very warm water. Swish around and spit out, but DO NOT rinse.

I am not a dentist, but numerous dentists still recommend this method.

Sage advice. However, I would not recommend the use of regular table salt. I gargle with and drink unrefined sea salt. Use 1/4 tea spoon in about 1/2 cup of warm/hot water. It's ok to rinse, gargle and drink it. In fact it's healthy to do so as a daily practice.
