"Moved on" is a current status label placed on an account when someone is banned or when someone leaves by their own voluntary decision. It doesn't necessarily mean someone was kicked off the forum, just that their membership has been suspended voluntarily or involuntarily. In the latter case, the membership can be reactivated.

Repeated violation of ECF rules can result in a suspension or permanent banning of a person by IP address, which prevents them from creating an account under another name.

Its used too often IMHO, I have lost more than a dozen friends here and the reasons have always varied as the discipline is inconsistent from mod to mod.....and once gone, people seldom are allowed back......:(

Not to open a can of worms, but this is incorrect. Often times if contacted something can be worked out.(Unless the offense was over the top). But we are rarely contacted. Instead, people try to "sneak" back on rather than try and work something out. They are almost always caught.

Also, someone is rarely booted without warning unless it is an egregious offense (spamming, abuse of staff, racial comments, etc). There is always a "ramp up" period where they get repeated warnings before the hammer drops. If they choose to ignore the warnings, well...............

Keep in mind, you are hearing only one side of the story. That is all you will ever hear, though, since we will not discuss action taken except with the member it is taken against.

Yep, and discussing things like that has gotten me censured a couple times........:( True, people that are permanently booted usually have a couple warnings but we both know of instances when personalities clashed with moderators, no offense, and that's where I'll leave that. I like the classys, new info, and PIF here so I normally keep my mouth shut but she asked, neighbor.....

Hopefully its repeated offense of the same nature, otherwise we sign up with a rope around our necks

Not necessarily. The vast majority of those who get banned from the forum (aside from spammers) know what they did was not allowed here, but did it anyway. I can't speak for the rest of the staff, but I never had any problem sending them on their way when I was Forum Manager, because if I didn't, they would just keep doing it. The staff are much too busy to play babysitters for a bunch of grownup spoiled brats.

And despite some people's beliefs, I have never seen anyone banned just because they had a personality conflict with a moderator. I've banned a few who thought it was perfectly fine to abuse the mods, though. Our mods are volunteers who give of their time to help the community here, and none of the admins will allow folks to abuse them. It's a mostly thankless job as it is.

well, I'm definitely finding there's some personalities on the site, as there are everywhere. I don't think I'd want to be in the position of playing Solomon. I can see where this would be a thankless job.

On the other hand, since I'm one to always be getting myself in trouble, I fear about my own fate! Good to know I'd have some warning before being executed (moved on....)

Just avoid general assclownery and you should be fine. Otherwise, I will have to spring into action!
