After witnessing the easy and hassle-free experience a friend of mine has had with his Ego-T, (I got him into vaping, but he went a different direction than me), I'm moving from my KR808D1 setup to an Ego-T, which has already been ordered.

I went through elitevaporworks.com for a few reasons, not the least of which is price. In addition, their signature series 808 batteries and cartomizers are so very nice compared to what I started with back in March, and their communication and service has been great.

Yes, I'm plugging them, but as a very happy customer, not any kind of affiliation. :)

I spent most of yesterday evening reading a large number of the threads from the past couple of months in this sub-forum, but I still have some questions. (My buddy isn't really the type to look into the subtleties of things, so the best input I can get from him doesn't go much further than determining that he's having less hassles with his than I am with the constant charging and filling of my 808 equipment.)

So if you don't mind, and I hope I'm not covering lots of previously trodden ground, I have a few areas of curiosity. For context, I'm getting 2x 1000mah batteries, 2 LR Type A atomizers, and 5 standard type A tanks.

1) I've already ordered 5 silicone type A caps from cignot due to frequent comments that they reduce the possibility of leakage. Now, as I understand it, the standard procedure with an Ego tank is puncture, remove, fill, reattach. Is there any reason to do anything at all with the stock cap? I'm thinking my procedure should be yank the stock cap, fill, put on silicone cap, install tank and vape.

2) In either case (plastic or silicone cap), can I store a tank that has been used and refilled in my pocket without leakage? I'm accustomed to being able to carry full 808 cartomizers in my pocket.

3) I've bookmarked a thread or two that mention proper line up of the tanks's flat spots when installing. I also understand that gettingit FULLY seated (with a click) is important. Any other tips for attaching the tank?

4) Dark liquids -- is this a problem even with the LR atomizers? I have a lot of BWB waffle around, and hate to think I won't be able to use it. I can't afford to replace atomizer's more often than once a month, and would really prefer much less. (Wasn't a heavy smoker and am not a heavy vaper compared to some stories I have read here.)

5) Same question regarding thick liquids -- BWB malty is my absolute favorite so far. Am I going to be sending atomizers to an early grave hittin this often?

6) What are the concerns (if any) with changing flavors? It seems easy to confine a given tank to just one flavor. What about atomizers?

7) Is leakage the only indication of a worn out tank or are there other things to watch for?

8) Is there a prevailing opinion onthe Type B atomizers and tanks regarding bein better/worse than Type A with regard to flavor, vapor production, longevity, ....?

9) Oh yeah -- once these silicone caps are on, am I asking for trouble to remove them for each fill vs pushing a syringe through? I'd prefer to leave the syringe behind with my 808 cartomizers if I can.

10) Lastly -- how full is full? I understand type A to be about 1ml, but if I am able to stop using the syringe, will need a visual cue for how full the tank should be.

Thanks!

Edit:

Sorry, one more:

People keep mentioning "blowing out the primer" in atomizer. Will it be immediately apparent to me regarding what this means and how to do it thoroughly?

You should be able to just use the silicone caps instead of the stock tank caps, I would save them in case you loose a cap though. In order to carry them in your pocket you will need to use the condoms that come with the tanks to keep the liquid from slowly leaking out of holes in the top of them. If you do not pierce the top you can carry them no problem. You should be able to just pop the top off to refill. The silicone caps take up a little more space in the tanks then the stock caps do so fill about 1/4 inch from the top, if you pierce the top first any extra liquid will bubble up through the hole so have a tissue handy. Yes, make sure the tanks are alway all the way in. The ego needs thinner liquids to wick properly. A 70/30 mix works best. I thin vg liquid down to that consistency with pga or distilled water (but you lose some flavor with h2o). The coloring in dark liquids get burned into the wick and clog it all up. I would get a 510 to 808 adapter and use your old cartos for darker liquids or learn how to pop the piercing plate off and clean the wick. It's not hard. You should be able to find directions here and the forum. I have no trouble with the tank line up, I just line it up with my button but YMMV. To blow out the primer I usually stuff a paper towel in the tank end and blow through the battery end, pull the towel out and repeat until it is dry. Then take a q-tip and wipe out the atty. Not hard but it takes a while because the ego-t hold a lot of liquid. Don't skimp on this step! It tastes nasty if you don't get it all out. If you have any problems drop me a p.m. and I'll help you trouble shoot. I use an ego-t everyday and have for 6 month now with very few un-fixable problems. Good luck and enjoy your new ego-t! :)

My best advice to prevent leaking is to pre-fire your atty for a second or 2 before beginging to pull. It heats up the atty and vaporizes the juice already in the atty and prevents it from being sucked up into the air channels in the tank. :)

Can't comment on everything, but I have the type A and type B tanks and I like the type B LR much more. This is the one from Cignot with no warranty. It draws much easier than then A. Also, it has lasted two months so far, and I've never cleaned it.

I just ordered two backups of the LR B and tried a new one. The new one vapes exactly the same as my 2 month old which has never been cleaned ! I was surprised !

I have to note that I vape a very "clean" juice. Most of the time it was pure PG with some menthol drops added. That's it. However, I had some leaking problems and read that T's are more likely to leak with the thinner PG juice. So I changed to 80% PG, 20% VG and the leaking basically stopped. I hear that 65% PG/35% VG is recommended but I haven't gone that far.

I also tried the silicon caps and didn't see any difference in leaking, when I had leaking. They are a little deeper, but basically look the same. It's hard for me to see how they would help.

Another comment--use a syringe to fill the tanks so you don't have to keep taking the tank apart and eventually damaging it. Also it's much quicker. I just put 10 ml in the syringe once and fill in a few seconds from the syringe when needed. Not convenient when you're out, but I always carry two e-cigs with me so that's not a problem.

Had a super long update here, but a few sloppy keystrokes and I lost it. Doh! :)

But I'd still like to leave some first impressions for others considering a similar switch.

Of course I can't comment on long term durability of the atomizer and etc, but those seem pretty well documented.

My first impression, coming from what I think was an above average 808 experience (regulated batteries with horizontal coil cartos) is basically WOW, WOW, WOW!!

So far I've only tried the dregs of my 6mg Malty. (Dear BWB, please get more Malty in stock!!! :) )

Filling -- took me 1 minute, and since the tank is clear I didn't have to guess when to stop, a refreshing change.

Vapor -- I'm taking what I think are pretty short drags based on the videos I've seen (about 3-seconds of actual inhaling) and getting slightly more vapor than I'd get from my very best hits on a brand new freshly filled 808 carto with the same juice. When I try to, I can get a cloud of vapor that honestly amazes me in comparison to what I could get before. That seems kinda wasteful though, and I don't need such a big cloud all the time. (but it is fun)

Throat hit -- I really don't care much about throat hit, but it's noticeably higher with the Ego-T. I could see longer drags becoming overwhelming, even at my low nic level.

Flavor -- this might be even a bigger difference than the vapor. Malty is my favorite juice out of the 6-8 flavors I've tried since starting vaping in March, and I'm very familiar with its subtleties. In this case, if I hadn't filled the tank myself I would not have believed it was the same juice. With the Ego-T malty is no longer the yummy juice that could stand to be more flavorful. Now it's the yummy juice that isn't the slightest bit shy -- the fruity aspect of it has gone from background to front and center, and it's really especially delicious out of the Ego-T.

Usage -- I appreciated all the tips here about tank installation and etc, they came in handy. It's not at all difficult to do, but worth having it spelled out for you the first time. I did go for the silicone caps right away since I had them, so have no comparison between those and the plastic caps. However, I did have some trouble at first just getting a feel for how long and hard to drag, I failed to realize I was covering the air holes at first, and I think I wasn't patient enough regarding letting the brand new atomizer wick at the beginning. No issues at all after just a couple of minutes of fiddling around, but at first I was afraid I was about to be pretty disappointed. Not at all once I got the hang of it though. :)

Also, I want to give special thanks to the tip on prefiring the atomizer. I am combining that with a tip from a video regarding continuing to drag for about a half second after releasing the button, and I'm getting great consistency that way.

Just to be clear I generally liked my 808 -- but had a few minor complaints with filling, cartomizer consistency, and etc that always stopped the experience from being perfect. Those complaints seem to be gone, plus I have the bonus of an all around improvement in all aspects. Maybe in time I'll have a short list of complaints with the Ego, but not so far!!

Vaping is personal and subjective, and I'm willing to be that there are also objectively better setups out there -- but the difference would have to be pretty gigantic for me to be willing to change again.
