pm2006,

Pull the mouth piece and tube assy off the atty and give the bottle the usual squeezes. Watch the the filler material, is the filler material loading up with juice? If not, you've got a delivery system failure. Try pulling the feeder tube out from the mouthpiece about a 1/32". Maybe the feeding tube is contacting the inner wall on the opposite side of the mouthpiece and it's stopping the flow of juice. One other thing to be aware of, I the viscocity of your juice. Thicker juice is harder to deliver than a thinner juice. You might want run a test with just straight vodka to see if that work.

Ok. I had taken the filler out. I put it back in and it filled up with juice. I will play with it for a while. I know it takes time to figure it out. Right now it just sounds gurgly and there's not much to it. Maybe I need a stronger battery. LC 14500 900mah 3.6v is the one I am using. Is there another one that you could suggest?

BTW thanks so much for the help.

I keep trying. Most of the time I get nothing. Sometimes I get vapor but it all tastes the same. I have tried Mt dew, creamy mint, and TV Buttercream. 3 totally different flavors . . . . all taste the same. I adjusted the filler. I will try again. :( I don't WANT to give up but I need my nic!

pm, I wonder if it could be the atties themselves; some long-time 901 lovers are saying that recent ones coming out, including from leading manufacturer SLB, are different and don't produce the flavor or vapor, nor have the longevity of the older version, and also leak more, after a few days anyway. Like many other things in vaping it appears to be a matter of opinion tho, as some have said they specifically like the performance of the 'new' design better. I don't have a point of reference myself as I haven't been using atties extensively for long, and don't know if I've ever had any that were diff than what I have now. Anyway, if you look in the Model Specific 901 subforum you'll see a recent thread on the 'new' ones, and there are others. That may help you determine which kind you have. Overall tho, doesn't seem to be something large numbers of ppl are reporting/complaining about -- yet, anyway.

Oh btw, afaik there aren't separate dripper-type atties (well, unless someone performed the home operation on it of removing its wick and/or bridge). It's just a matter of whether or not you're using a cart & filler with them, as opposed to dripping juice directly into them. And I only recall one person saying he liked to remove the MP1's own cart filler, so I think you should probably continue to leave it in as you've started doing. (Lest you ever try cartos on it, but can cross that bridge if/when/then! :))

Anyway. If you continue to find the output rather weak, there is something you can do that will definitely pump up the volume on what you're getting via your MP1 -- get a 901 to 510 adapter and then try it with 510 atties! (FYI, there are also larger controversies going on these days over lesser-performing fake Joye 510 atties or knockoffs; and over a possible defective batch that gets a burnt taste early. *Sigh,* this stuff can sure get complicated! And I definitely don't want to get a hijack on those subjects going here! So -- to do a reliable sampling of the 510 with it, if possible maybe you could initially just get one from a friend who uses them and has some they've deemed good performers.)

Some are also saying the new IMR/high drain 14500 batts (currently available at cloudsofvapor.com) help turn up the volume of PVs they're used in, including the MP1. No idea myself how much diff they actually make, but presumably not as much as would using 510 atties instead. Note, if you try those batts, they require a spacer which is also sold there, since they're shorter than most 14500s.

Good luck, hate to think of you struggling with this over there, and being new to atties themselves on top of it! :(

I read a thread about the new ones and I have an old one. I have been using 401 attys and they look nothing like this.

And I only recall one person saying he liked to remove the MP1's own cart filler, so I think you should probably continue to leave it in as you've started doing. (Lest you ever try cartos on it, but can cross that bridge if/when/then! :))

I also use 808's and I did try one here but I need a longer tube.

I may have an adapter but not a 510 atty. I think I would still need a longer tube and the brains to cut a hole the right size!

I was just reading that thread!! lol but I have decided that's not the problem. After 4 1/2 hours of concentrated vaping on the MP1, I think it is a battery connection/switch issue. I can press on the button all day and nothing will happen. That's why I kept flooding the atty, I think. Then sometimes it works for 2 or 3 hits in a row. I tried the atty on my 808, it works great and I checked the power in the batt, it's good too. I don't have an LED so I can't tell when it's on.

This was new when I bought it but unfortunately, I bought it on the classifieds so I don't know if I can get help anywhere. Bummer. I guess it wasn't worth the $5 I saved.

I get the impression that it would be a nice mod but I think I would need stronger flavors. Taste is lacking. Although, it was better when it worked for more than one vape at a time. :p

Good luck, hate to think of you struggling with this over there, and being new to atties themselves on top of it! :(

Thanks for all of your help. I may have to turn into a modder whether I like it or not!

I use my 901 MP1 with an adapter & 510 atties sometimes so I can report that, unless MrPuff has changed the length he's using, the tube is plenty long enough for that setup. (And he uses the same pre-modded 901 carts on the 510 model too, so no new hole drilling required either. Many always prefer the 901 carts on their 510 stuff.) However, mine has an LED; since yours doesn't, the way I'm picturing it you'd probably have to stick something under the bottle to prop it higher and create the extra tube length, if that's possible. (Have a stealth MP1 en route, so will know soon enough.) Afaik it's only been the ppl with LED-less models commenting on the tube being short as it is, but mine w/ LED isn't, at all. Someone also PMed me info recently on some compatible tubing he located, so I think I'll dig that up and add it here.

Yeah, I'm not a techie but sounds to me like you may have identified the actual issue. But, I do think MrPuff would fix it for you if you send it to him, so by all means PM him (he's said PM is best)!

From my own experience with it (and not being a previous '510-only' type or anything), I think this has 'adapter plus 510 atties' written all over it! :D When I morph my 901 MP1 into a 510, it's much more of a kick in the... everything! :p Keep it in mind anyway, but yeah first order of biz is probably letting MrPuff shape it up!

I received the following via PM re compatible MP1 tubing, and extra bottles. (Sender, can I credit you here? Told him he should also post it if he hadn't, and excuse me y'all if he already did -- admittedly, I'm being too lazy to check! :p) This could be especially helpful for those who wish their tubing was longer, such as those with an LED-less model.

Not sure if it is exactly what Mr. Puffer is using, but it works for me. I've made a bunch of extra bottle/cart combos to use for the MP-1 so swapping out flavors is really easy.

Got the tubing from USPlastics[dot]com. Tygon brand. The thin stuff is 1/32"ID 3/32"OD 1/32"Wall, and the bottle/cart tubing is 3/32"ID 5/32"OD 1/32"Wall.

Got the bottles from MadVapes. They are out of stock right now. Just placed an order with USPlastics for more tubing so I'm trying the 3ml bottles from there to see if they work too. Just needed to clip about 1/8" off of the top of the dripper tip otherwise no other modification is needed.

Thanks MIA. I will keep that info. It would be nice to be able to swap bottles. I have already changed it 3 times. lol.

Oh, and . . . Mr Puff has already pmed me to offer help. WOW. How cool is that????

VERY cool, here's to you MrPuff! :toast: Good luck pm, let us know how things work out in the end! :)

stupid question but gotta ask... i ordered The MP1 Stealth Edition w/no LED (901)...901 is the same thread as the 808 cartos....has anyone tried using the carto instead of the atty? figured the rubber stopper on the carto could be replaced with the premodded cart and the liquid would just drip straight into the carto. If it works, the carto mod where you remove the filler and just add juice would make the MP1 like a drip vaping machine....plus i have tons of used cartos.

also, mad vapes is out of the 14500 batt...is this something that is available thru radio shack or some place i might find locally?

That was just discussed starting at post #45 on this same thread and continuing for a few posts.

Not sure about local sources, for rechargeable ones anyway, but other online sources include cloudsofvapor.com, batteryjunction.com, lighthound.com and hightechdealz.com (or dealextreme if you can wait for shipping from China).

I had the same problem that finally showed itself last weekend. Turned out the solder had disconnected from the positive join to the atty and was kind of being held in place by the adhesive. After that I noticed the battery connector itself was was breaking loose and started spinning. And then the battery spring assy's epoxy came loose  All the while I was at the dropzone 45m from home. Luckily I had my USB PT as a backup.

Before this I was having issues with the bottle leaking in the case, and I'm curious if this 'epoxy' reacts with it? I was using it with LR attys so I did a straw mod for more flow. Other than that it was unaltered.

When I got home I re-soldered the positive connection and replaced the adhesive used with a normal two part epoxy and it's back to it's former glory. :toast:

Cloudsofvapor is having a sale this weekend, and including a battery case with an order of two batteries. Good opportunity to pick up some high drain 14500s. Also, Nhaler.com now has black LR attys, with an order of 10 they are only $7 ea and come in a wooden case

Grrrrrr, I'm getting more and more curious to try those IMRs in my 901 MP1, to crank it up a hair. But so far I'm sentencing myself to live out the three regular AWs I already have, *sigh.* :p

Just got my puffer yesterday. Wish I would have read tip #6 before I did.

First day was great. Today I got off work and started puffing but it tasted awful and the whistle tip was very loose. Checked it when I got home and there was a bit melted on the end inside. Don't know why that made the tip so loose but it sure explained the taste I got.

How do you trim the carts? Sand them down??

Also noticed the button is a little funky. Sometimes have to press it a few times to get it to trigger. I have found that pushing on the button kind of diagonally seems to work pretty well.

I have tried to flood this sucker but it refuses my efforts.

Using Ikenvapes 2.0 ohm 901 attys, HighPings cart mod and the High Drain batt+spacer is quite nice with Atomic Cinnacide. Will try other flavors when I get some bottles. Thought he was going to throw a few in for me but he must've forgot. Oh well.

Soooooo, how do I get the plastic taste out of the atty?
