Mine is 50/50, but I don't think it produces more vapor than the other flavors (I also DIY my own Hawk Sauce using their flavoring, so I'm not sure that helps you). :2c:

Guess I should have asked this here a couple weeks ago...

What percentage of flavoring did you use mixing your Hawk? Think I did 16% compensating for +2 shots. Did yours come out just like theirs? Was going to try my mix this weekend, just been wondering a little this whole time if it need some EM....

I made one the other day that was crankin' until I snapped the leg off :(
I got some 30ga Kanthal and 3mm Silica today so made a beauty.
It clocks at 1.3 ohms and sizzles the juice.
It tastes burnt even when it's not a lot of vapor.
It heats fairly evenly but seems that it's burning juice and not making enough vapor or flavor.

Any advice? Is this wind considered 3/4? If so should I coil another @ 4/5?
I'm vaping at 7w. That's what I vape my PTs & Evods at.
It tastes burnt if I crank it higher but it seems to make better vapor/flavor but burnt.
Help?

Just for the heck of it....

Have you tried setting it in vv mode and cutting v as low as it will go? 3v @ 1.3 ohms is 7w....

Morning all.. refilling a few of my T3s for my half day out of the house.. cafe coffee..whipped cream.. sticky buns.. butterscotch.. and teaberry for sure.. maybe more

We don't have TV our here in the sticks..haven't had cable in over 7 years.. cable doesn't come here.. tried satellite.. no way will we pay for something that goes out every time a cloud passes by so any TV we watch comes from the internet too.. I have a site that quite a bit comes up on.. pay and not pay stations - waterfox (the 64bit version of firefox) tends to nail most of the popups and my adblocker combined with ghostery kills the commercials that play on CBS's internet site.. win win.

Occupational Therapy starts today.. I'm looking forward to it.. hubby says it's gonna hurt - but after breaking it.. then having it rebroken - I think this will probably pale in comparison - I just want my hand back.

and it's time to get my .... in gear.. later allayamvbers

My man started on OT today. He had a stroke back in mid-September (right when my daddy was hospitalized for pneumonia). I got him started on PT a couple of weeks ago and the physical therapist suggested OT too. So two hours (OT + PT) twice per week.

I'm thinking they may have accidentally given me 50/50 on my last order. 50/50 usually bothers my lungs though. Weird.

Now it's reading 2.2ohms on the vamo and the Pthingy.
It takes a few hits to get it going at 7w or 4v and tastes burnt once it gets going.
Hotspots? too tight? too loose?

Ahah. It must have been shorting. Now it's back to 1.5ohms and tastes ok at 3.3v

It seems pretty airy and it takes a few hits to get it going.
I haven't drilled it out yet. I think that would make it even more airy though.
I have the hole in front of the coil. Right place?

One of the builds I did a while back the ohms were bouncin' around and it was driving me nutz, it ended up being a loose connection on one of the legs...

Also as you already stated a hot spot will cause an off taste but I find that more using mesh though...

May not be the answer for your situation...

I kicked it up to 3.5v and it hits better but it's still airy.
I'm comparing the hit I'm getting with an evod using a small diameter post (original evod coil)
With the evod I get a big hit the first time.
This takes a triple hit to get the vapor/flavor I get with an evod on the first hit.
I thought these are supposed to blow me away but I'm underwhelmed so far

The evod coils use silica right?

Yes but probably a higher resistance wire probably 34 AWG which heats up easier under equal amp load. Don't give up your next one could be your best vape ever ;)

Honestly nothing for me (yet) compares to a good RDA build....

Maybe the coil's wrapped too loose. I'm used to a 2.0-2.6 ohm coil too.

It isn't the same flavor and takes 3 hits to get good vapor/flavor.

Another wrap will give a higher resistance and wrapped tighter might fix the flavor.

I did wrap it freehand with no pin.
It is wicking like a champ, juice just sizzles when I have the cap off and blow on it.
I threw the loop over before attaching the inside leg. That holds the wick in place like this video:

He's not very organized but gets a good result even with all of his putzing around.
I like this vid because it has lots of closeups and good focus.

Yes, evods use silica wicks. Have you tried adjusting the height of the coil, too far down from the height of the airhole can cause minimal vapor and too high can cause hot/burning taste it should be about the same height as the airhole, also you don't want to wrap the coil too tightly around the wick as it will impede wicking of the juice, too loose will cause hot spots on the wick.

I decided to get out my IGO-L and do some dripping too. I just put a new coil on it. 8 wraps of nichrome on 3mm silica. Meters right at 2.5ohms got it set to 7wattts. It's working great lots of vapor. Dripping some Rock Party Energy. I couldn't get a great close-up but here's a pic.

Wowsers! last hit made me cough a little it's hitting like a truck. :)

See, wrapping coils like that seems ten times easier than pro tank coils. Hmpf. Half of me wants to drip, but the other half kd me doesn't want to deal with the hassle. Having a full tank and just being able to sit there works great for me..

Yup works for me too. Oh I have to admit I did cheat a little bit. I use these SmartVapes Premium Coils for Rebuildables

PS- I got the IGO-L set aside now. I'll drip some more tomorrow, It's getting too late for that much nic, got to sleep sometime tonight. I think I'll stick to my AROs for the rest of tonight mainly MBV Dutch Apple Pie, and Butterscotch. All these juices I got on 10/4 are getting really delicious.

Honestly, the only thing I use them for is for testing juices out, they are easier to build depending on the size of the RBA, I have one which is a Phoenix Clones and that darn this is about as small coil wise as evods. But the fact is that you get a better flavor hit and I don't really care to keep sitting there dripping.

Mowgli, I would suspect that the coils might be wrapped to tight before too loose. I've wrapped some pretty loose coils and they never tasted burnt yet. The coils should just be touching the silica.

Burnt flavor usually indicates a hot spot or there isn't enough juice on the coils. You might try dry burning your coils for just a second or 2 to make sure you aren't getting a hot spot. When you fire it it should start glowing from the inner most coils and then spread out to the outer coils. Start at a low voltage though. Nothing over 3.0V for a 1.3 ohm coil. You also might want to wrap another to get upwards of 2.0 ohms until you get this sorted out, say a 7/8 or 8/9 wrap, maybe?

Don't give up yet, though. The hawk sauce is terrific dripped on an IGO.
