When I first switched from my cig-alikes to my spinners and clearos/tanks, I woke up every morning not being able to swallow because of the dryness in my throat. It felt like there was something stuck in my throat. That lasted for awhile. I think for me I had really upped my vaping because I wasn't used to getting such good hits and so much flavor. I was power vaping like a crazy woman! I was also vaping at 12mg. which turned out to be just too much nic for me. When I lowered to 6 mg. and cut back on the dragon vaping the dryness was greatly improved. I still get it now and then, but mostly if I'm not drinking enough water and if I just mindlessly vape all night long. Higher PG will do it also. I keep mine at 50/50 and that seems to work well for me. Hope that helps.

I saw the mention of candy cane on here and I thought to myself, "darn, why didn't I try that?". Well, you live and learn, I'll see how this goes and adjust from there. Probably toss in the candy cane next time. Or, if it's seasonal and might go away, use it as an excuse to order it now :)

I've never had this experience with the dry throat before but I'm literally days in with the real PV having used the cigalikes before so pineapple peach is my very first run with real juice and I have no comparison. Though you might be right in that it could be nicotine lvl plus sudden increase in vaping as I've pretty much been making myself nauseous with it haha. I already ordered lower nicotine content on this MBV order. I guess I won't really know till I try more flavors and blends. I just wondered if vaping was generally drying. I'm guessing the fact that I knew nothing about steeping/letting it breathe so there was probably some alcohol in there which will surely dry out a gal's throat.

You may be right about the number of good guys versus the bad guys. But, lately I have seen a huge increase in the bad.
It is my opinion ( and mine alone) that most of the big guys with most of the money, and therefore, power, are for the most part, bad guys. How else do you suppose they could blatantly rob me and millions of others out of their retirement funds, and not go to jail. Actually they get a bonus for doing so !!! Greed is the new marker for Morals

end of rant........
and now, back to your regularly scheduled chaos :)

it's always been there. it's just getting more noticeable.

if yer still breathing, you can still do something...

jealous!! really want eggnog and pumpkin spice! I'm going to have to search for some eggnog....love the nutmeg!!

Roonies, PM me your addy and I'll hook you up with some Pumpkin Spice as soon as my in-come is greater than my out-go (should be just before Christmas). Khala's got first dibs on the eggnog, though. :)

Sean, my daughter has MS she was told she would never get out of her chair. 6 months later she was instructor for the water aerobics at the YMCA. She has had to use the chair a few times since. People like you & her are the real tough guys & my heros.
no I ain't givin' ya no hugs or kisses:toast:

MS is a real bear. My dad's cousin has it and I won't trade her, no matter how many times she offers! :) Good for your daughter for doing what she can to keep mobile. I always tell people, it's not about what mobility equipment you need or don't need, it's about keeping yourself as mobile as you can for as long as you can. I've always been able to walk short distances (10-15 feet) and I *could*, technically, have got around full time on crutches till the RA hit... but if I had done that, instead of using the manual chair for school and sports and walking at home and at friend's houses, my grades would have been abysmal and I would have been exhausted all the time. Using a manual chair to ultimately be *more* active and mobile - but still walking when that made sense to do - kept me in far better shape than full time walking would have.

Everyone is different, of course, but I think ablebodied people tend to see mobility equipment as both universally "bad" and as a rigid spectrum, i.e. a power chair is "worse" than a manual which is "worse" than crutches which is "worse" than walking independently. Sometimes that's true, but most of the time it's just about doing what works for any particular situation to keep you moving and healthy and happy. I had a track coach when I was very young (4) who had MS, and used her manual chair half the time, her crutches almost half the time, and walked independently the rest... I just "found" her again thanks to the net, and she's still just as mobile as she was almost 30 years ago. :)

"Use it or lose it" *absolutely* applies, and the older we get, the more it applies... but as long as you "use it" to the best of your ability, opting for the chair once in a while as a practical move to help you be your best in a particular situation isn't a "bad" thing at all.

No hugs or kisses is fine - I'll consider myself held in probably higher esteem than I truly merit. ;)

Oh....glad your furnace is fixed!! Ours went out last Fri.,the 13th!! Luckily they were there within 5 hrs. and it was fixed...$179 for us, but well worth it to have heat!!

Joie and Seanchai....your Christmas good deeds for others is very humbling to me. You are what Christmas is about, doing for others with love and selflessness, and you have really inspired me. I know that true joy comes from helping others but I was raised with a mother who didn't talk about or do those kinds of things. It was always about giving and getting the biggest and best gifts. I'm sure that's how she thought she was showing her love, but you make me wish I would have grown up in a more altruistic home. All I can say is God bless you both!! Seanchai, I also hope your chair is fixed soon. I'm sorry you have to go manual with the rotator cuff issue. Before I had my shoulder replaced, which was the 4th surgery, I had a torn rotator cuff which was fixed in the 2nd surgery. It's not fun and is in fact very painful so I empathize with you. I just had my 8 mo. check up on my shoulder replacement today as a matter of fact, and he released me from PT out of the house. However, the left shoulder is now in a bad way and I see him on the 23rd to do a work up on it. It feels suspiciously like the right one did when I tore the rotator cuff. He said this was very common after fixing the dominant shoulder, for the other one to follow suit. But I digress. Take it easy and use a lot of ice on that shoulder. I'm sure you probably know this, but it really helps with inflammation and pain.

To all of my friends here....a great big thank you for the congrats on 8 months! I really can't quite believe it's been 8 months since I smoked!! I've tried everything over the years and never even wanted to quit when I happened upon ECF and entered the wonderful world of e-cigs. I don't think just using them alone would do it though. It's this community of support that does it for me. Sometimes I have to retreat for awhile, just because of my own "stuff", but I could never go away for very long. You all mean that much to me!! so hugs ((((((((((((((my MBV peeps)))))))))))). Love ya all!!

Lastly, welcome to the new folks here in the last couple of days. Stick around.....you're gonna love it!!! :)

i can't even pretend to try and catch up today. you guys were just too gabby. View attachment 284355

tried to hit the high spots tho ;)

furnace is all fixed and they only nicked me for about $100. tho that's a lot of juice. :/

When I first came home from college (a long story in and of itself that I've told here before), I was a little at loose ends. I started out sitting around at home, which was good on the writing front but very bad for my mental health, since I was alone in the house from 4am to 7pm. Within a few months, all that silence and isolation had me paranoid, anxious, and clinically depressed; all things I'd been headed for anyway due to the college situation.

So I asked my sister's teacher if I could help out with her class (special ed). She was thrilled to have an extra hand, since she was trying to teach 30 kids ranging in age from 11-15 and in ability from about first grade to fifth. Add in the fact that almost *all* of her kids had other diagnoses (autism, reactive attachment disorder, oppositional defiance disorder, depression, bipolar, schizophrenia, *severe* ADHD... not to mention cerebral palsy, spina bifida, severe epilepsy, blindness, and hearing loss) and she had a hard enough time just getting them all settled down at their desks, let alone learning.

(I'll say it again, she was an *amazing* teacher. All of those kids came into her class not able to tell time, count money, or interact with the world independently. They all left her class able to do all of those things, in spite of everything.)

So I pitched in and worked for/with her for about 5 years so that she could break the kids into smaller groups according to their abilities, and thus make some more progress.

I'd say about half of those kids had horrific home lives. About a quarter had been bounced around the foster care system all of their lives. We reported abuse where we found it, but often to very little if any effect, and the "best case scenario" was for a kid to be removed from their horrific home life only to be bounced around foster care till they aged out.

The teacher, being officially a teacher, wasn't allowed to take the kids off of school property outside of school functions, of course. Since I wasn't officially a teacher, I wasn't bound by those restrictions... so every weekend I'd take a few of them out for a little while... a movie, the park, just something for a little bit of refuge. I could never afford anything "fancy," but most of them were just glad to get out of the house, and going to the dollar movie theater or the three dollar all you can eat pizza place was a special occasion for them. (My sister was very put out about being "left out" of these trips for a while, till I explained to her that the kids I was taking out for a saturday afternoon didn't get to do that *any* time other than when I took them... she was horrified. I didn't tell her that most of the kids I was taking out for the day also had cigarette burns and fresh welts all over... that would have been more than she could handle.)

One day, the teacher pulled me aside and asked me why I kept doing it... "you don't have to give up *every* Saturday for them. I applaud what you're doing, but don't burn yourself out doing this... there will always be more kids coming who are in equally horrible situations, so all we can do is report it and provide a safe space for them."

I thought about that for a week or so and then went back to her. "You asked me why I do this, even though I know it'll always just be a drop in the bucket... I do it because it could easily have been *me*. If I'd been born five or ten years earlier, I would've been institutionalized at birth. I go around every day knowing that if anything happens to my mother, I will *still* have the system swooping down on my sister and I, and demanding that I justify why I shouldn't be institutionalized... even though I'm fully capable of leading an independent life, and fully capable of helping my sister do the same. I've had friends who were summarily shoved into a group home because they had cerebral palsy and dared report an instance of clinical depression - and because they didn't have a family member to help them advocate, they were instantly institutionalized and haven't been "allowed" to go back to independent living, even though they're now capable, because they're assumed incapable on sight. And the fact that that horrific possibility in the back of my mind would still be *better* than what these kids go through? That terrifies me, angers me, and motivates me. If, God forbid, I ever get institutionalized against my will, I would hope someone - anyone - might read the desperation in my eyes and be good enough to take me out in the world once in a while to do my own grocery shopping, or see a movie in the company I would prefer to keep, or take me out for a meal. If I were lucky enough to have that, I could deal with the nightmarish day to day. *That's* why I do this."

After my sister graduated, that teacher switched school systems, so I haven't been able to volunteer in a similar fashion in a while (and to be honest, both my health and my finances don't allow for such things on a regular basis right now). However, a bare few of those kids went on to claw their way into a modestly successful working class adulthood, and some of *them* picked up the torch for me... so *they* now take the kids in that situation from their old school out on Saturday afternoons.

It's not much - it's not nearly enough, and it never can be - but it's something.

Currently vaping some Butterscotch and Cafe Coffee... good stuff, though I'm still semi-patiently waiting on Sticky Bun. :)

Thank you for sharing that. The story part, also the vaping, but mostly the story :)

Just placed an order for my bro for Christmas. Got him Movie Theater Fish, Ecto Cooler, PB, Butterscotch, and Root Beer. He lacks variety and rarely strays from fruits, fruity candy, and sometimes menthols/mints. His problem is the popcorn effect. Let him try my Cinnamon Roll and he got popcorn from it.
Anyone have this problem and figure out a solution? Any other MBV suggestions (for future orders) to add some variety without the possible popcorn effect? Thanks.

Some of that is an individual-by-individual thing, but I've found it can be exacerbated by your gear. I vape mostly sweet stuff and bakery stuff, and I don't usually get the popcorn effect, but if my voltage is too high, my coils need cleaned, or I haven't been drinking enough water, it'll happen - and I've had it happen to me and then passed the exact same setup with the exact same juice in it to a buddy, who didn't get popcorn at all. In that particular instance, I dryburned the coil and everything tasted fine again.

I've also found that for me, top coil tanks tend to give me popcorn more often than bottom coil. No idea what that's about, but I have only fruit and mint/menthols in my top coil tanks now. Bakery/chocolate/coffee/tobacco all go in bottom coils only. That's just me though - as with everything vaping, what works for me might or might not work for anyone else.

I used to be like that with firearms. I had an entire collection. Sold everything but a couple. I only have two hands, don't ye know. :p

My order came today. I was frankly surprised (again) that it came so fast. Now I have something to mix with my peanut butter. And I got my sample of Pumpkin Spice, can't wait to try it out, but I will.. For a little bit... Maybe...
But what about when the zombies arise and take over?

You're talking about the 'build your own' on the site, right? When you said DIY I was thinking you were making your own juice at home but I think I misunderstood. I used the 'build your own' on the site a few times with good results but not in your flavor profile I don't think. Mine were chocolate mint with orange and a chocolate raspberry truffle I concocted. They were good. It's a nice feature they have to be able to fine tune things and experiment.

It sounds like you enjoy fruits and creams. The Blu Moo is outstanding!! I cannot be without it. The sherbert is amazing and I recently ordered the flavor so I can DIY at home. I'm going to want lots of it around at all times! Another one you might like is Orange Dream Bar. It really is dreamy and vapable fairly quickly. I have found some of the single fruit flavors, like peach and pear to be very strong on their own. Whipped cream or sweet cream are good mixers to have on hand to soften some of the stronger flavors. Strawberry Shortcake is another winner if you like fruits. It's another must have in my rotation. Spurberry is good and a fairly well loved flavor. Swedish Lime is great, especially mixed with Razzleberry and Orange Dream Bar. It's much like sherbert with a little more pizzazz to it. Once you get enough juices it's fun to mix them in a single tank. You can alter any flavor by topping off a tank with another flavor. I tried the Cucumber mint last summer when it was really hot and humid out and found it refreshing and very subtle. The mint is nice and is a stronger flavor note than the cucumber. Lemon is a good flavor to add a drop or two to any fruit flavor to brighten it. I always have some lemon drop on hand just for that purpose. The lemonades are good, especially Freckled lemonade, which is a strawberry lemonade. I have always gone 50/50 with 2 flavor shots and that has been right on for me. Have fun growing your collection. I've ordered from a few other vendors, but MBV gets 99.9% of my juice dollars and I've found no need to look elsewhere for 8 months, so for me, that speaks volumes.

I like the idea of candy cane in the mix. So much so that I think I'm just going to order it. Esp if it's seasonal...is it? Do they even make seasonal flavors haha?

For every DIY, I try to throw in an actual juice flavor just in case the DIY is awful I'd like some recommendations of tried and true popular DIY flavors. I'm excited for the rainbow sherbet to arrive. I'm a fan of berries and fruits with cream and citrusy flavors in general too. I LOVE pomegranate but I only see it on MBV as a DIY flavor but not actually part of a recipe, unless I overlooked it? Haven't tried any teas yet but I have a feeling I'd like it. I also like light and refreshing flavors. I'm excited to try cucumber mint for that reason. Not a big fan of the cake-y stuff especially on it's own. I'm hearing good things about blu moo but I have a number of fruit/cream flavors on their way so I'd like to mix it up some.

Anyway, my point is I'm in the market for popular MBV flavors. I've already got the rainbow sherbet and ecto cooler on the way. I realize that flavor is largely subjective and as a rule I don't really decide based on flavor reviews for that reason BUT there's some weight behind highly popular flavors so, if you've got any, here's your chance. Let 'em fly.
