Hey guys maybe you can shed some light...my boyfriend is having MAJOR issues with his ecto cooler from MBV.

It seems to be eating away at his protank II (full size). It will not stop flooding, it's basically like drinking the stuff. I think it might be the coil...I read it can sometimes be finicky with the kanger and recommended he clean his stuff and switch the coil.

He bought the juice in 65/35 so it's thinner, so maybe it needs to be thicker?

What do I know, honestly? Not much. Maybe you do?

EDIT: Oh and in the form of a true vaper, I just wasted the last of my money on another order from MBV (and a few samples from ECBlend but we won't discuss that here). I went with... White Ice, Candy Cane, Watermelon and Lemon Breezy. Any advice on these guys? Steeping time, etc.

I know the pain. Up through my early 20's I wasn't very good about it... maxing out cards at the bar & the like. Took me years to build it back up & was getting ready to buy a house... then my ex happened. It was really frugal living for a couple years after her & pretty much working nonstop. But I made it - bought my house this past June. Ever since that hot mess I like to borrow a phrase I learned from a friend - 'single but unavailable'. Bills get paid, the budget is strict but it leaves me room for everything I need. Occasional loneliness beats the snot out of headaches, relationship stress & general bravo sierra.

On a better note, I just wrapped up an awesome coil yesterday. My first time playing with twisted Kanthal. Twisted 32g, 11 wraps, 1/16 ID, 1.9 ohms & downright delightful. It even looked pretty. :)

Always down to see a pretty picture of a wrap.....don't be shy!

About the ProTank and Ecto....Ask him to check his heads for "flavor wicks." They are the loose wicks laid on top of the coil. I've had several Kanger heads lacking the flavor wicks, and it causes both flooding and popping of hot juice (often into my mouth :(). If he has any silica, he might consider adding another flavor wick on top of any that might be there. HTH

Crazy thing...that totally crossed my mind too but I never heard of it happening and I didn't mention it to him but I definitely will now. Look at me, having the same idea as a vaping pro :toast: I'm learning, slowly but surely.

I hope that's the problem, it's the easiest to fix :toast:

I knew I should've kept my mouth shut.

Pics or it didn't happen. :)

Not shy, but I didn't take any pics of it. It's a piece of wire ferchrissake! And now it's happily at the bottom of my KFL+ covered in juice which I'm not going to empty for a photo... because it's a piece of wire! :p

Yeah I just let it get out of control with credit cards. Now I'm not in serious debt but I am in debt. And just decided, working in my noble field, I will never pay it off. So I'm declaring bankruptcy while I'm still young enough to recover.

I really want to learn to rebulid coils and at least get into the whole dr burning thing but right now i just don't have the time. Since the Kanger PTII Mini coil units are not actually meant to be rebuildable so I think for now I am just going to change them out as they underperform (EDIT: And SAVE them for when I'm ready to learn) then spend the summer really learning how to do it right. I just don't have the time I need right now. Or the money to buy more when I screw it up, as I inevitably will :)

Rebuilding is so super easy. I got into it for the independence, not the customization aspect. Even if those monkeys in DC lose their bananas, I like the idea of not having to rely on availability of cartos or an embargo on imported vape gear or the like, although I do want to pick up another KFL+ or 2. You don't really need any special knowledge or tools to do it either. A 100' spool of Kanthal is under $10 on Amazon & cotton balls are everywhere for cheap. You just need a decent piece of hardware, a one time investment.

Lotta truth here. And honestly, nothing vapes like a RDA or RBA. Cartos come close. I'd love to know what mech/mod you found that only requires a one time investment, though. Haha. I have a K-100 that is my workhorse, and after six months, it's looking a little rough, although working like a charm. I guess it could last indefinitely if I keep it maintained, but I've already bought another mech and will be picking up a new K-100 here in the next week or two.

I got into rebuilding for the fun of it. One of my dirty little sekrits, I like stock Kanger heads, they work, and they are great for on the go when I do not have the time or inclination to mess with anything. ProTanks are Go!!!
I loved the old Metallica, some people think they sold out, I think they got old :) I still listen to them, I got old too.

A decent cover, not wrecked, by a decent band:

Doesn't matter what mech/mod.. you still have to use one even if you don't rebuild - not a part of the equation. I was talking about the RBA itself. Buy something quality & it's pretty much a one time investment. Sure, you might have to replace a screw or insulator, but that's rare, few & far between, especially if you take care of your stuff.

I think it's more the regulation of the eliquid that threatens vaping.
