Sean: the fundamentals of Xiangqi are thing of beauty. it's so much less complicated than western chess. too bad most of the youtube stuff isn't in English, but that guy is a blast to watch and learn from.

This is remarkable. I fell asleep in my chair last night and am only 2 pages behind this am. Much different than the freight train yesterday; I made a post and when I entered it I was 5 pages behind and the question had already been answered several times. Y'all are fast.!

I can't take The chance, the Internet is my domain I'm this house which means I need to set it all up and be able to monitor her activity in an unobtrusive way so we know she is safe at all times when using it. These companies are being really dense though about rolling out better options. The tech is there for Facebook but they haven't rolled it out yet due to privacy concerns from my understanding. Sigh.

One of my fellow church members have decided to start vaping but I wish he came to me first. He posted a picture and it looked like he got a crappy knock off ego batter and a generic c4 clearomizer. But Im fixing to run some interference. Packing a bag and me and him gonna have a sit down "Vaporware Party"

Cause Im afraid he might be discouraged with the setup he got. Im going to give him a handful of Evods and I don't have any extra batteries but going to direct him to all my favorite vendors and of course MBV,

I just have to be careful not to overwhelm him.

Xiangqi is so much simpler. there are only 5 pawns (move one square straight only-after crossing river, thay can move sideways as well). the king (moves vertical and horizontal only) and his 2 advisers (move diagonal only) can't leave the "castle", bishops move 2 squares diagonal only and they can't cross the "river" in the middle of the board, canons need to "jump" over a piece in order to capture another piece (other than that, they move like rooks). castles are the same as rooks, the knights move as in chess, except a piece immediatey in front of a direction does block that move.

there are about 5 basic openings. you don't have to learn 16 variations of 64 openings 30 moves deep and it's not as mind-boggling as Go. it's a beautiful game. Asian boys learn to play it like folks here used to learn to play checkers. (and it's instant celebrity status to defeat Asians in the game! )

be careful not to discourage him either. he might think "he's got it". younger folks seem better with a lot of new info and older folks can be a bit more guarded. ymmv!

I was never a decaf drinker either, but the local roaster came out with a decaf Sumatra that tastes exactly like the caffeinated stuff. I'll do full strength all morning but then I'll go 50/50 or even 25/75 later in the day. But I drink at least a pot & a half every day so I need to or else I get jittery & coffee gut

That's a good place to start. I quit smokin cigs about 4 yrs ago (Dec 20, 2009 and still have the last pack of cigs to prove it) and started vaping with the Joye 510's. (not much more was available) That lasted for about a year and I got tired of chargin and switchin batteries so I went back to the cheap cigars. This time I did the same thing as you are suggesting ...a couple of Vision 1300 mah and Evods and it's gone downhill ever since... still trying to get to the point where I'm saving money. Just don't tell him that vapin is cheaper ... healthier - yes, smell better - yes, cheaper - NOT! ... unless I consider the alternative.

Oh thank you so much. I'm glad it's not sparkly - it needs to match my cane. Now someone will have to remind me, is it appropriate to wear tails with Carhartt overalls & sawdust after Labor Day? Or is that only if I have a monocle? I want to look dapper if I'm going to gimp around with my cane & top hat, but the faux pas of fashion tend to elude me.

Just throw in the Young Frankenstein version of Puttin' on the Ritz and lip synch to it. The shuffle should accomodate the limp, and the cane & top hot will be all you need as accessories. Unless, of course, you want to add a couple of brain bolts...
