nothing wrong with shorter cruises....leaves more money for the next one !!!!
Alaska is one cruise I have NO desire for.....maybe it's from living in Illinois :)

We have to do Alaska (she's wanted to go for years) before I can get the 15-day Hawaii ;)

A place some call paradise
It's getting harder and harder to keep up with this thread. Absolutely the fastest one I'm involved in (or at least I like to pretend I am). So today like other days I will just show up and drop off my experience and then disappear into the shadows of lurkdom

I helped set a buddy up with his first e cig today. I wanted to have him get the MVP from mbv but he procrastinated and with everyone doing New Years sale and all the resolutionists out there they are hard to find for a good price. I could only vouch for a few websites that sold e cigs (as I've only dealt with 4 so far) mbv, discount vapers, ibtanked and provape. Seeing as he's a beginner and it doesn't always stick I just showed him the price tag on a provari and said maybe in the future.
So we went back to mbv and he got a innokin vv3 and an ibtanked. Luckily I have just about every inexpensive topper so I let him try them all out and decided on cartos. So he's got his order in! Hopefully I have my second convert.
By the way my wife is doing so much better with hers now that she controls her own cigs. She only has the morning and night ones and were going on 3 weeks! I have to go to the field for a week so I'm nervous about that but she seems to want to make it work (as long as we haven't had too much fireball/crown).

I hope everyone is well and those of you back at work had a better day than I did.

Technically that's a stockpile. Problem is, by the time you have that much, you have definite favorites in the pack, so then you get worried about running out of the stuff you reach for most. I've got well over 1000mls now, but by the end of the month, my favorite juices are always perilously close to empty... so I still have to reorder. :)

I can completely relate to the stockpile not being what I thought it would be. I have probably 500ml of liquid that I could easily vape but pass by and order another couple hundred ml of what my personal favourites are. (always have to have at lease 50ml of thug juice or I start getting the shakes :p)

Yup. I've got tons of good stuff sitting here, including a bunch of stuff I haven't even had a chance to try yet from trades/pifs, but what am I thinking about? The fact that I "only" have 20ml of Vanilla Butternut left, and I need to get some more 555 cause that needs steep time, and I "only" have 40 ml of my favorite chocolate vape so I need to ask that vendor to do a 120ml bottle for me so I can stop having to hit their site like a desperate addict every time my stash gets low, and this other new-to-me vendor's stuff is good too so I'd better budget for more of that, and wait, White Ice, I don't vape that often but it's looking pretty low so I'd better restock that, and is all of what I have going to *last* till payday, maybe I should break into more of that pifed stuff, but what if I *love* it and it totally screws up my budget, and argh.

It is a good problem to have. Far better than when I was worried I might run out of juice *entirely*, and I share juices around a lot with all the people I've introduced to vaping, so all the "extra" will be vaped by me or someone I know at some point... but it's crazy how attached you get to your favorites.

I try and reason with myself by saying: "At least I am not smoking anymore"
Don't even get me started on juices that I used to love then they started tasting weird overnight. Still got probably 70ml of butterscotch that's been sitting there for a good 2 months.

Yep, I tell myself that too, but I also did all the math before I started vaping, discovered that it was perfectly *possible* for vaping to be cheaper than smoking, and resolved that I would keep it that way - considering I really couldn't afford smoking, there was no reason *not* to vape on a budget, and about 100 reasons *to* do it that way, for me. So I live by a very strict budget for juice and supplies... if I want a new tank or an RDA, that comes out of juice, etc. I also have to keep in mind that my income drops significantly in the summer months, so I'm trying to stockpile enough juice in a variety of flavors and nic levels that when summer comes around, I can skip ordering juice entirely if I need to (because I probably will need to, for at least a month or two). Hard to plan for that far out, since, as you say, tastes change... but that is the number one reason why I'm hanging on to quite a lot of pifed juice that I haven't even sampled yet... Of the one's I've never loaded into a tank, I've dripped enough to know that all of it is vapeable, most of it is good, and some of it is excellent... and all of it, with its variety in all forms, is going to save my bacon over the summer.

As far as that butterscotch goes, I'm sure someone would be happy to take it off your hands in exchange for something you'd prefer - if not here (ack, postage!) then in the UK forums. :)

Oh wow! The Thug Juice looks pretty good! Never tried that one (new to MBV in the last half month). :)

The costs can really add up quickly - a few bottles from 3 or 4 vendors and you're looking at over $100. It's great that MBV is so economical.
Great point about the butterscotch! I'm still clinging to the hope that I may love it once again.

Postage is one of the main reasons that I always order at least 200ml of juice. That being said - some vendors offer very reasonable shipping prices, around $6-8. The 7-10 day shipping time allows for ample steeping time, so I'm not complaining. :toast:

Morning Amiaji and Sam :)

Yeah, it adds up quickly. I try to get enough to get free shipping as often as possible, but that adds up too, cause I end up ordering more juice than intended! It wasn't too bad when I was ordering from MBV exclusively, but now that I've got three vendors that all stock very different flavors that I adore, I'm finding myself having to pick and choose who gets my order money each month. This month is probably going to be the last one that I order from all three in the same month... after that I'm going to have to put them on a rota. :D Good thing is, I've finally got a decent idea of my flavor profile, so I can safely order larger sizes, at least for a little while.

morning Sean and Ryan,

before I started vaping, discovered that it was perfectly *possible* for vaping to be cheaper than smoking, and resolved that I would keep it that way - considering I really couldn't afford smoking, there was no reason *not* to vape on a budget

there's almost no way possible for me to vape cheaper than smoking. i had my smoking budget down to $30 a month. a pound of really decent tobacco on the Res is $11, and tubes can be got for under $3. being a little OCD and having tendencies to go on spending sprees, i'm guessing i spent $1300 in almost 7 months. i've got 11 batteries in usage and after increasing the nic in most of my juices, it's a sweet setup. i'm still only getting 600 puffs (till yellow) on my MVPs, but i've got peanut butter and fudge brownie on those and i take gigantic hits off of those. i'm getting 235 to 250 on 6 of the itaste v3s. i used to get a lot more, but then i used to take the batteries down to the first red puff. i started charging at the first yellow hit just to try to increase battery life.

Sean, i have zero success yesterday! mostly due to timing and idiots. who do i need to focus on to get SSI? medicaid is going to be hit and miss due to the high volume of calls they are still getting caused by the sign up for "Obamacare".

I don't live near a reservation and I can't roll my own, so making vaping cheaper than smoking is much easier for me. I've just got my MVP, a couple of Egos and a couple of 808s... so I'm only in for about $120 in gear, including tanks and coils. I'm going to pick up another MVP when I get my tax return, but that's all I really need... figure in a couple RDAs somewhere along the way and I'll be good for quite a while. I'm pretty much at the point where I don't need to buy coils anymore either... I'll probably pick up a pack once in a while for those times when there's no way my fingers will do that, but it's not a priority anymore cause I'm pretty decent at rebuilding what I have. Juice is my downfall. Far too many awesome things to try.

Unfortunately there's no real trick to getting through to someone.... that's just the usual bureaucratic cluster. The *best* thing to do is to go to your local office in person if you can... but they're well aware that most people can't. If there's any way you can swing it, go in person and bring any and all documentation from your doc with you, it speeds things up considerably.

The only hint I can give you about doing it over the phone is the nicer you are (even when you're ready to kill someone), the quicker they tend to get to you... being nice makes you stand out because everyone else on hold is ready to strangle someone too. You *can* file online, but their site is pretty frustrating to deal with. Other than being ridiculously cordial to the phone monkeys, the only other thing you can do re: phone or online is to pack your patience.

Once you go for your medical and your interview process though, the trick is to base everything you say on your average *bad* days... not your average good/best days. I kept getting turned down for everything for years because whenever I had another interview/medical, I put on my usual "I'm fine, it's not so bad" face, so they went "oh, well you're fine then!" Then I got a doctor and an SSI intake person who were both themselves disabled, and they were the ones who went "no no no... they judge this based on your average *bad* day, so you need to play up *those*." It's still the most difficult part of reviews for me because my bad days are depressing instances I don't like to think about, let alone discuss with strangers... but it's the only way to get the financial help you're entitled to. (it's also why people who have no shame about "playing up" a very occasional bad day get services no problem, and the rest of us struggle to get any... most genuinely gimpy folks I know don't like to advertise just how bad our bad days get!)

Hope that helps.
