Good call. I quit Fakebook a million years ago, tired of seeing grown men post their freaking dinner or spamming lame music videos and pictures of their kids. Ugh. That said, reddit is a good thing to avoid. It's entirely too addicting. Good call staying away. I, however, am an avid redditor.

The Extreme Ice I probably wont be mixing directly. I don't normally like menthol, but every once in a while I get a craving for it, so I think I'm just going to pick up some 3 ml or so bottles so that I can put a fruit flavor in there then add a few drops of extreme ice whenever I'm in the mood.

Honestly I don't know what that is either. I don't have a large amount of knowledge of every single mod/variant out there other than the main/popular ones. I do know a bit about electricity/electronics though & all mods are the same on a functional, electrical level. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but that's what I've got for you. Good luck.
Side note - when electricity flows through a wire (such as the spring) it has a 'skin' effect. The electrons will flow more, and in some cases exclusively, on the outside of the wire (which is why certain things like speaker wire are multi-stranded). Having the spring clean & touched up with an anti-oxidizing agent is also going to be helpful. I would clean & treat any other contact points accordingly. Both an open circuit & a short circuit are going to create problems for you (but only one is going to cause the heat problem you're having).
I have grown to love menthol, but it's a mood thing, like you said. I do the exact same thing with my Extreme Ice. I started getting the concentrate, but I mix it at 20% because when I want Extreme Ice, I want it extreme, and icey. It's great for when you need that kick in the throat, or to feel your vape. Amazing how much asphyxiation played in the cigarette addiction. Never realized until I got deep into vaping just how masochistic smokers are.
They give a very nice vape, though. I put some silicone "friend tips" (also called "tip covers" and other such monikers) on mine...keeps them from being quite so cold in the winter.
Most of my DIY mixes are around 12% (less for Extreme Ice...closer to 9%). Check out Flavor West flavorings, although not all of MBV's flavorings come from FW. Spurberry is a proprietary blend the best I can tell, like Hawk Sauce.
