Ya know, the first coil I built was out of desperation because I didn't have a good one left for my mini vivi metal tank. I wanted to vape a tank cracker sooo bad so I just whipped it up...using the cotton yarn.....and it went together for me in about 10 minutes!! I thought I had it down. Well, the next time I rebuilt a couple, metered them, they were perfect, put them in the tank and no go!! So I kind of forgot about doing coils for a few days and ordered some silica so I could dry burn them to check for hot spots and all. Last night, there I was again, desperately needing a coil. So I sat down with my magnifying stand and this time I used silica and burned the wire til red. The first time the silica shredded as I was trying to finagle the coils closer together so I started over and just wrapped 4 wraps as close as I could, really carefully. The rubber piece was a little hard to get in again, but I got it, rechecked to make sure the coils were within the atomizer, not touching each other or the sides, and put the metal pin in. It took some extra snips to get the wire really flush, but I got it.....dry burned it and it was perfection!! The funny thing is, my black cat Boo, had his nose right up to where I was working. He had to stick his head through an open hole at the back of the magnifier base and kept reaching in with a paw and gently touching the wire, or the metal pin, or the piece of rubber. He was mesmerized and I really wish I would have gotten a picture!!...maybe tonight. So, the yarn works great but you can't dry burn it. Heating the wire over the gas stove made it very easy to wrap. I think it will get easier and faster so keep at it. Have patience, good magnification and a steady hand and you'll get there. It really does give you a sense of satisfaction and since I'm ordering a Provari...my first mod....tonight...I'm going to be needing to save some pennies somewhere. Good luck!!! (thanks if you read through this ultra long post)!!

p.s. wrapping the wire around a screw and then just unscrewing it off works great too. Then you can just thread the wicking material right through it. When the wick is shot you can pull it out and dry burn the coil and reuse if it isn't compromised. Ok....NOW I'm finished...
