today is my 6 month no smoking anniversary. i think i will celebrate by ordering stuff. :D
I wish I had thought of that on my 6 month anniversary! :glare:

Congratulations on a job well done!
I DID IT!!! I decided to try again and i rebuilt a protank head!! I used a toothpick instead of a screw. i was afraid it'd be too large of a coil, but i was able to slip my 3mm silica right in, and it tested at 2.3 ohms! I DID IT?!?!??! Lol im scared to even try to use it LOL
Good job! You can leave the toothpick in the coil until you get the silicone plug back in the bottom of the head and trim off the coil tails. That way, you won't get the deformity of the coil like you did with the other method. Congrats on finding a way that works for you! :thumb:

Ya know, the first coil I built was out of desperation because I didn't have a good one left for my mini vivi metal tank. I wanted to vape a tank cracker sooo bad so I just whipped it up...using the cotton yarn.....and it went together for me in about 10 minutes!! I thought I had it down. Well, the next time I rebuilt a couple, metered them, they were perfect, put them in the tank and no go!! So I kind of forgot about doing coils for a few days and ordered some silica so I could dry burn them to check for hot spots and all. Last night, there I was again, desperately needing a coil. So I sat down with my magnifying stand and this time I used silica and burned the wire til red. The first time the silica shredded as I was trying to finagle the coils closer together so I started over and just wrapped 4 wraps as close as I could, really carefully. The rubber piece was a little hard to get in again, but I got it, rechecked to make sure the coils were within the atomizer, not touching each other or the sides, and put the metal pin in. It took some extra snips to get the wire really flush, but I got it.....dry burned it and it was perfection!! The funny thing is, my black cat Boo, had his nose right up to where I was working. He had to stick his head through an open hole at the back of the magnifier base and kept reaching in with a paw and gently touching the wire, or the metal pin, or the piece of rubber. He was mesmerized and I really wish I would have gotten a picture!!...maybe tonight. So, the yarn works great but you can't dry burn it. Heating the wire over the gas stove made it very easy to wrap. I think it will get easier and faster so keep at it. Have patience, good magnification and a steady hand and you'll get there. It really does give you a sense of satisfaction and since I'm ordering a Provari...my first mod....tonight...I'm going to be needing to save some pennies somewhere. Good luck!!! (thanks if you read through this ultra long post)!!:) p.s. wrapping the wire around a screw and then just unscrewing it off works great too. Then you can just thread the wicking material right through it. When the wick is shot you can pull it out and dry burn the coil and reuse if it isn't compromised. Ok....NOW I'm finished...

yeah just evods and protank coils. i didn't seem to have a problem with getting the wire around as much perse as the stupid silica like falling apart. it took me forever to put the stupid little rubber stopper back in, and when i did it apparently pulled the coil all bent down. i got mad and stopped lol

oh. i took the toothpick out and threaded the silica into the coil. i somehow managed not to bend it up when putting the plug and pin in.

It's been a long time since I got a buzz off nic!! lol pretty tough to do at 6mg.!!

yup. that's what happened. now im like f-it. i don't wanna do this :(

on another note. mbv's cotton candy is pretty darn good. i got it in 18mg which is a bit higher than i normally vape so i could mix it in with some of my 6mgs, because they are just too weak. it's a little on the harsh side which i assume is from the 18mg. and i hate the clearo i put it in :(

oh and its making me feel lightheaded hahah. i just wanted to try it by itself first! LOL

Mom would be happy :)

I chose the avatar I did because my father passed away January of 2011 of cancer of his stomach, esophagus, bowels, all from smoking. We have a lot of cancer history in my family and my father always told me to be careful and keep up on things. So the avatar of my dad heart here is to remind me what can happen. He was only 61. I can't think that at 31 my life is only half over.

Thanks vwkitty!! My mom died of pancreatic cancer. That's also caused mainly by smoking and even though she quit at age 59, it got her in the end. Cancer is a horrible thing....cigs are horrible things....we are all so blessed to be here....seriously!!!! And I love the tatt!! I've been thinking of a memorial tatt also for my mom, dad, and sister. I love the heart...it looks like a candy heart to me....it's sweet! :)

I had to chime in here.
My sincerest sympathy for everyone's loss.
I lost my Dad and my husband, both lived into early their early 70s,
the biggest contributing factor being cigarettes and both smoked right to the end.

Well!
Enough of that!! ;-)
I'm so proud of all of us, to have thrown them down and to have met here!

Yup, three candy hearts actually :) Dad, Mom, Nana. Along with various other candy. It was a work in progress and I happened to have an appointment for three days after he passed away, so I figured it only appropriate to do that.

It's really horrible to see someone you love, someone who raised you particularly, from when you were young and helpless, become a victim of cancer. It's just a terrible way to go.
