i absolutely did not know that
i figured 3mm silica was too thick, and as i prefer cotton, i figured ekowool would be better. would 2mm ekowool w/o flavor wick work? or even 1mm ekowool alone? (what do you use for flavor wick? i'm using yarn)

Just an update for those who saw my earlier posts...
I didn't enter the coupon code when I made my purchases at mbv on Friday morning so I didn't get the discount. I contacted mbv support and they gave me a credit for my next purchase.

)they were $10.50, which IS the cheapest price i've seen. i might just use the discount at MBV on Monday, ans see if i can get some strawberry shortcake as a freebie. cuz $11.99 is the cheapest i've seen lately. $15 with a 20% discount is $12, so the strawberry shortcake would be a nice little bonus. i've never tried it, and want to.

No more than 24 hours, imo. Opinions will vary on that, but the point of caps off steeping is to evaporate any alcohol used in the mixing process. 24 hours is plenty of time to accomplish that - much longer and you're evaporating *juice*. Steeping with the caps *on* is a different matter and can take anywhere from a week to a month (or more), depending on the juice. Darker juices take longer to steep, as do juices with flavor shots.
Basically, caps off for 24 hours, then recap and let them continue to steep. Shake regularly, sample weekly.
