OFF TOPIC

I am posting this here which is a response that I had sent to Roonies as I don't feel like posting a bunch of times what has happened. So this is basically the gist of it.

Thank you. I actually live in a Triplex, there are 2 sets of them that face each other and nothing else around. As for me being ok, not really, I am honestly pretty much at my wits end here, seems Murphy's Law is working overtime and I have no idea what I ever did to the .......er, well that was my best attempt at humor.

I actually am not relocating, myself, my mother and 2 cats are staying at my fathers house for the time being. The damage to the 2 apartments were for the most part confined to the bedrooms which are adjacent to each other, according to what I was told by the fire Marshall upon arrival back home from having dinner at my fathers house was that there was an old space heater that was being used in the kids room as was too close to the bed and the comforter on the bed caught fire, they were not home, thankfully, well I guess if they were home it wouldn't have gotten too far as each unit has fire extinguishers in them, but the fire created a hole in the wall which are mostly nothing but Dry wall and spread into my room as the wall the it came through is the wall I have the head of my bed, night stand, computer desk, guitar's and amplifier, also on the other side was a smaller bookcase that I kept all my vaping stuff. My room actually got about 65 % damage,, lost all of my pictures, 1/2 of my knife and sword collection, computer and a bunch of other stuff.

Whenever I leave the house my bedroom door is always closed in order to keep the cats out so they don't get into the oils and e-juices etc and reek havoc when I am away, the fact that they door were close was a factor in containing the fire for a longer period of time so it didn't spread into the rest of the apartment. The fire marshal stated that they rooms should be ok to remodel and an inspector will be out tomorrow to check the stability of the structure. So hopefully this will be able to be redone, but it's going to take some time.

I always when going to be gone for any length of time take my laptop with me and as there were some other people that were going to be at my fathers he wanted me to bring my guitar to play some so that particular guitar was spared and still have my laptop.

The fact is that I just had a feeling I should have stayed home but was asked to go, so I did, this time of year right now is not one that is a great time for me and this just well added another notch to it. What is also really upsetting is the loss of 40 years of pictures, those are things that cannot be replaced, everything else can be over time.

The only things at this point that I can say I was Thankful for on Thanksgiving is the fact that nobody was hurt and that my cats are safe, it could have been very bad as the couple next door just had a second baby, I'm just glad they weren't in the room when it went.

You know, I have heard and seen things like this happen to other people and couldn't understand why in this world that bad things have to happen to some people and turn around and something else bad happens to them, it's like W...T...F.... did they do to deserve all this bad luck etc. I mean, damn come on, give someone a break!

Now as far as the other issue about the P-word, I was very much taken aback by that, but that's water under the bridge. People have good days and bad days, it's just the way of it and when things are put in text form, there is not real sense of true emotion or inflection and things can be taken out of context.

I am just going to have to take it like I always do, one day at a time, can't do anything else at this point, but I am pretty much at the end of my rope. I've worked hard my entire life and well, don't much to show for it now, and those dreams we all had when we were younger, well hard to continue to have those types of dreams at this stage, but I try to hang in there, I was never one to ask anyone for anything but was always one to give when I could. Sorry!

I'll pop in from time to time as I am able. I'm just going to post this in the thread as well so those that are wondering will have the info so far, I don't wish to keep posting the same thing over and over.

Thank you for your concern and well wishes, it means a lot to me!

Dusty so very thankful you are okay and everyone else is too (including the cats).
Take it one day at a time and things will slowly get better, and that's a promise.
It's NEVER a good idea to keep a space heater turned on too close to something
flammable or when you aren't in the room, ugh. You know that and it wasn't you,
you did nothing wrong. People just amaze me sometimes.

I'm a believer that when bad stuff happens it takes its' best shot, and sometimes
comes in bunches. Then when good stuff happens it does the same. So I guess
what I'm saying is there is going to be a lot of good stuff coming your way, hopefully
soon.

Again, I'm being selfish, but I'm just glad you and your cats and family are okay.

This. I do my best to believe this. Sometimes my best is not good enough, but Dusty, you're a fighter so keep fighting. It's going to be okay.

Once again the board lights up with confusion between dusty and me. I have PM's from concerned citizens (which is very sweet!) about the loss of my home to fire. Dusty, wherever you are, I hope you are doing well.

Daleron, your concern is very touching, but please notify any threads that you may have posted into that it's not "moderator" dusty that had the fire. :)

OMG, ok, I didn't really thing that anything was going to get a bit of a chuckle out of me, but this did! I'm glad it wasn't you that had the fire. I doubt that even if I changed my screen name to Dusty_Z that it would help, so I am just gonna leave it as is.

Thank you! I had asked my neighbors when they arrived why the hell they were using a space heater, each unit has Central Air/Heat, their son is a Hemophiliac and can't tolerate the cold and the Central Heat if turned up to where he needs it to be creates too much heat in the rest of the house, so they keep it at 78 on the thermostat but he was still cold, so they used that and yes, to leave one of those on when gone is not smart, they could have at least gotten one that has a shut off sensor but most importantly keep it the hell away from anything that can burn!

Thank you Sam! I love you guys too, you are as I have said many, many times, the best group of people I have ever had the pleasure of not meeting but meeting, lol, if that makes sense, still trying to have a bit of a sense of humor.
