I was worried for a moment that I would get bashed for that suggestion.... I know people feel strongly about not using some juices in plastic but I am just telling you my experience!

We're not generally like that in here. I prefer not to use plastic at all, myself, but only because I'm absentminded and can't afford to replace tanks if I accidentally load a tank cracker into a tank that can't handle it.

A lot of the "OMG DON'T EVER DO THAT!!!" people are basing their panic off the fallacious conclusion of "if it melts my tank it'll melt my lungs!" which is of course not true... anything with citric acid in it has the potential to etch a tank, doesn't mean orange juice will kill you. Granted, it's probably not a great idea to vape a tank full of juice right after said juice has started eating your clearo, because you might inhale compounds from the plastic... but generally, a tank damaged by the juice within isn't long for this world anyway, so it's not going to last long enough to do any massive harm, especially compared to cigarettes. Considering what most of us *used* to do to our lungs, I always find it a little ironic when the "OMG, PANIC!!!" folks start in. Would I vape out of an etched or foggy clearo? No, I'd toss it. Do I think people should be aware it's not the best idea to keep vaping out of a damaged clearo? Course. Do I think they should run around screaming at the top of their lungs and terrifying anyone who ever "made do" between paychecks? Nope. If my choice was between a damaged clearo and a day of analogs, I'd chance the clearo... and it's important to understand that for some people, that might be *exactly* the choice they're faced with. Informing people is always good, freaking them out is usually bad.

Well I am awaiting your reply. :)

Just in case you are not joking as I assume you are. Here is why I made it.

A) Its not like I told him its okay to sub ohm on a duracell...
b) He is fully aware of the risk involved when making his decision.
c) I am speaking form my own perspective and only informed him of my experience...

Like I stated, I figure you are joking but Now I am second guessing my irresponsible suggestions. At the same time, worst thing that could happen is a broken Iclear.........

I think posts like yours are important and valuable, actually. I have a friend who lives too far away for me to lend him some vape gear to get started with (plus I'm out of spare vape gear!) and he forgot my tank cracker speech, so he's got a few EVODs and one juice with a slight cinnamon kick to it. He knows the cinnamon juice could potentially damage any plastic tank, and he's decided to take the risk with one particular "reserved" tank, and keep the rest for his other juices. In the medical field, that's called "informed consent" - in other words, he has all the information he needs and has decided to undergo some risk till he's got the cash for a pyrex tank.

I find "informed consent" a very useful model vis-a-vis vaping advice. The only zero-risk way to vape is not to vape at all, so the rest is entirely about how much risk each of us is comfortable with, and that will vary from person to person.

Saying something like "I've vaped X in Y setup and haven't experienced any issues, but your mileage may vary" isn't conclusive, it's informative... and that's useful.

Argh. My juice is floating somewhere between here and Atlanta, and USPS just updated my delivery date to tomorrow. Not a huge deal except there's no reason on earth for it to take 12+ hours to go ~30 miles. Still might make it on the truck, since they won't load for another hour or two, but my hope of having Sticky Bun by tonight is rapidly diminishing.

Same here.

Thanks for that reply. I am still new here so I was scared that I may get the "hammer of justice" about that comment. Thinking about it, I just made some posts in other thread about buying vape gear from ebay with paypal. Sort of the same thing. I pointed out the risk involved, but also pointed out that I have done it myself and have been happy with said purchases and not been shut down by ebay or paypal.

I agree that it is good to stress the risks while giving any advice or suggestion in regards to things like this. I was just a bit afraid of being bashed for not clearly stating the risks or advising something risky at all. Keep in mind, I have been part of many forums but most to do with gaming or modding. In 99% of those , I have been called out for making a "not so smart" suggestion to others despite my own experiences.

I appologise for any inconvenience my posts may have caused. Thank you for clearing that up in a more proffesional manner than I was able to.

This is why USPS has such a bad rep. Their inconsistency is maddening.

There's always a few people who can't resist a p:censored:ing contest. I won't say there's no one like that on ECF, but those who are attracted to such things tend to extend their posturing to expensive mods and "gourmet" juices, and thus are uncommon on this thread. ;)

No worries - you did fine. As I said, I find posts along the lines of "I used X in a Y and had no problems, but your experience may differ" to be very valuable, and I don't think the community as a whole gains anything by silencing those kinds of posts.

molly, is that huge ice storm gonna get you? sposed to miss us....barely. hope your electricity doesn't go out. ice storms are famous for power outages around here. :(

They're constantly fine tuning it but looks to be not a big ice storm, but up to a half inch
of freezing rain followed by s-s-snow and plummeting temps. Stay safe.

The cloudy grey sky, frost on the ground, the sound of no birds singing because they all migrated south...whats not to love?

Don't worry, a couple of feet of snow will soon cover that damned frost until March.

Got 15 hours out of that 1300mah eGo. Pretty good.

Vaping FW DIY White Chocolate and MBV Hawk Sauce (Angels singing).
