Yup. I would never actually get one - but they're freaking adorable. Oh, and poisonous.

I'm pretty much against animals in cages across the board. I won't let my daughter's grandparents take her to the circus or the zoo. They think I'm a weirdo.

problem is, zoological facilities are the only viable and safe place remaining for some species. there are some animals whose numbers in zoos outnumber their wild population. :(

Well got my share of the shoveling done - down by the mailbox and where the plow shoved more up against our driveway.
Kiddo going out to work awhile. Hubby left and when I talked to him he said the roads in town are fine, it's just us,
as always, who are snowed under. He's missing out on the shoveling fun, thanks to 4wd.

Ya - whose fault is that? ;)

The larger places that make a real effort to give those animals something resembling a natural habitat, get a pass, in my book.

Your average circus or random zoo, though? It raises my blood pressure.

Your not the only one the actress Kristen Bell stated those are her favorite animals and at the mere mention of them see gets really emotional, I believe there was a segment on the Ellen Degeneres show that had her on it and she was talking about them. Yes it was, here check this out Kelli

i admit....i would be the same way.

Yeah, the Black Rhino went extinct a few months ago. It was a bummer and I don't think the rest of the world hardly noticed. :(

It pisses me off because there was no need for that to happen. Using a little common sense and being responsible and the Black Rhino would be around another 1000 years. It's not even a matter of nature taking its course. Poachers literally wiped them from the face of the earth with their greed.

i know, incredibly sad. and for people who say "so what if a species goes extinct?", i say every one that goes extinct is just one step closer to us having the same fate.

Some of us more deserving than others IMO. I have no problem hunting for food, resources, etc. but this, it just sickens me. I wish they'd declare open season on poachers. I'd be the first on the plane with my poacher-tags. heh.

Hi all. I see I managed to miss the last panicked steeper... didn't mean to sleep so long, but a solid week of cold and rain is kicking my :censored:.

Just found out the parental unit has been spending the past few weeks under the impression that we had far more money than we do (she's still getting used to the fact that we have a car payment to make again, after our long-paid-off van's engine quite literally blew as she was following the ambulance a few months ago... yours truly was in the ambulance of course). So, because she hadn't been keeping track, money's been trickling out... $5 here, $10 there, nothing big but nothing critical... and the upshot is, we've got $30 in the bank account from now till the 20th.

The good: We've got plenty of juice, and what's in the account should cover gas. Food, we're fine, thanks to turkey day. Bills are already paid. We'll get through this fine. (Note that juice, food, and bills are taken care of by me.)

The bad: Looks like we're going to be doing an after-Christmas type celebration, since by the time there's money for Christmas shopping, virtually nothing would have enough shipping time. Not a huge deal, but irritating considering this is not the first time this has happened. *My* Christmas shopping? Has been done since early *November*... so as usual when Mom pulls this, everybody has presents but me.

Good thing I'm not the materialistic type... I'll order more juice on the 20th, wrap it up nice for myself and be quite happy.

One of these days, I swear to god I'm going to "misplace" her debit card.

(and for anyone wondering about credit cards, the answer is "we don't have any." I stood over her and made her cut them all up after the divorce (including the ones dad had run up in her name)... we can't afford credit card payments, ergo there's no real point in having credit cards. I don't regret the decision, but that *is* why plugging the gaps with plastic isn't an option. :) )

I'll be fine, and I love my mother very much. She just drives me absolutely batcrap crazy when it comes to finances.

vaping some pumpkin spice and some kind of chocolate concoction I don't remember. :)
