Holy cow, you guys are fast this morning!

Hang in there Sean, grab the vitamins & mater juice & git after it.:vapor:

Absolutely.

Focus on the Dr. Who Christimas special and stay calm. :) You don't want to go outside anyway, it's still raining (at least here it is).

Oh yeah, it's bucketing down. Again. Still. I canceled spirometry *again* today cause going out in that mess would a) not be a good plan, b) probably result in them admitting me for observation (my pulmo works at said hospital so he'd want to come have a look and that'd be that, considering he knows exactly how quickly I can go from fine to mostly dead) and c) would definitely not help anyone with regard to a baseline level, which is what it's supposed to be for. One day, I will get the :censored: spirometry done, but that day is not today. We're now up to two cancellations that were my choice (horrible weather, and now today) and three that were theirs (scheduling error, scheduling error, and "oh, you wanted *spirometry*?! Can you wait another two hours?") so I figure at this point, it'll get done when it gets done.

And yes - no intentions of missing Doctor Who. Roll on, Twelve! (Even if I do want to throw something at the TV every time I hear "Trenzalore" these days... yes, yes, Moffat, you're clever, you're clever, you're cleverer than us, just like Rattigan - now stop teasing and hinting and macguffining and tell the BLOODY story already!)

i just worked 40 in 4 days though. I'm tired.

Seanchai. Feel better, stat!

You've certainly earned your blue moo, Mia. :) Thanks, I'm trying.

much love and prayers for you today, brother!

Thanks Sam, they're much appreciated!

I feel your pain. I couldn't breathe a few years back and ended up in the hospital for a week. Mind you, that didn't stop me from smoking again once I was home! But now I get really paranoid when I start to wheeze. I work in a hospital. I really don't want to spend my time off in there as well.

Having worked in a handful of hospitals, I love workin' in 'em, hate staying. :D Normally, I take these in stride and it's everyone else freaking out while I'm going about my business as usual (I tend to do the whole cyanosis thing, it scares everyone but me). But at this particular moment, the memory of that sudden realization,"oh crap, this one isn't like the others and if I let myself fall asleep/pass out I don't think I'm gonna wake up" is still awfully fresh. I'll get over it... I think it's just cause september was the first time I'd had one that bad since I reached an age where I knew I was mortal. ;)

Is this your immune system??? :D

Yes, yes it is. And also my second service dog. :D

Attention kelli and roonies (and whoever else likes Glen Hansard/The Frames/The Swell Season:)

I was going to wait to post this till Christmas Eve, but I'm guessing most of us will be with family and friends, so I should post it now... this is Glen with a dear friend of his (and a close friend of mine) Mark Geary, also an amazing musician. Mark has a lovely little poignant Christmas song off his first album, and this year, he and Glen got together and re-recorded it for charity - it's now available on itunes. Here is their live version:

For those who are interested in the background stories behind songs, here's the background behind this one - Mark is one of nine kids, and every year at christmas, his parents would buy a pack of chocolate and coconut biscuits (cookies, for the Americans out there). They'd hide them in the washing machine so the kids wouldn't get to them. Trouble is, the kids *knew* they would always hide them in the washing machine, so they'd sneak down at night and each have a few, resulting in an empty box of "Christmas biscuits" every Christmas morning... thus the line, "Who ate all the biscuits?" When Mark became an adult, he discovered that the biscuits in question were not actually "Christmas biscuits" at all... just regular biscuits his folks only sprang for at Christmas. "My parents :censored: *lied* to us, all those years, right to our faces!... Salright, I suppose, we all lied about eating the biscuits before Christmas... spose we're even!"

Morning all. Think I'm coming down with something... not an uncommon occurrence (my immune system is shot) but it has me uncharacteristically nervous cause this stuff is starting out exactly the same as the bug that landed me in the ICU for a week a few months ago... I've had a officially-sanctioned plan for what to do at times like these since I was 14, so time to just put that in action (for now, keep myself inside, up all my meds, stay put, stay calm, and let the doc know so they can hold a bed for me just in case) and cross my fingers as hard as I can. There is a 90% probability that I will be 100% fine and won't need any major medical attention... it's just that this is the time of year that the other 10% tends to bite me in the :censored:.

Hope everyone else is at least less of a neurotic basketcase than I am this morning! :D

Do everything you know of to fight it off......I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers......you rest and keep it AWAY !!!!

Thanks Joie, I appreciate it. :) All appropriate measures are being taken, including staying the heck out of this miserable weather, and I've got enough medication here to sustain me through *several* such incidents (per my current pulmo, as well as two former pulmos, all of whom agree I'm one of those patients who absolutely needs that stuff at home, primarily because I do know exactly how to use it vs. when greater measures are needed), so I should be fine as long as I'm smart... luckily, mom's christmas break has started, so in the event I fail to be smart, she'll have no problem booting me in the ..... ;)

Good morning Mt Bakerites!

Senchai I hope you get over your bug easily, this is not time of year to be hospital bound :(

One more day after today and I am off till January 7th \o/ I used to work all the holidays when I was hourly here, because of the way the labor structure is the 8 hours of holiday pay would kick you in to overtime if you worked the holiday so it wound up being triple time for any holiday worked. Since I have stepped into management and become a salaried lacky I am exempt. I get paid my paycheck weather I work 30 hours a week or 90 so I try and keep it below 50 so they do not get too much free work from me. I do not work the holidays anymore though, no reason to the money is the same. :)

Morning, MBV peeps!

Let's see, the quick catchup...

Go bears. Rah. Rah. Rah. (Note the lack of hope seeping into the statement.)

Add me to the folks rooting for your immune system to behave properly, Seanchai!

And I haven't decided on a vape this am. So I'll be vaping whatever is leftover in my tanks - tank cleaning coming up soon, following coffee.

Half-off work today -I need to put in some time, but I'm technically on vacation. So I'll get something done on a major project once I wake up.

Thanks FearTX, khala and cheryl!

I'm laying off the vaping as much as I can this morning for obvious reasons, but I confess the odd mouth hit of Cafe Coffee is happening. I figure it's better than last time, when I didn't quit *trying* to have a smoke (that was impossible to inhale) till I was on my way to the hospital. ;)

Morning peeps. :vapor:

Sean, thinking of you and hoping you feel better quickly.

The offer we made on the house in Kingman, AZ was rejected. We figured it probably
would be. No counter offer, and we can't offer more without physically going out there.
We will eventually go out there, look at property, and buy something, but that time is
not here. The offer we made yesterday was low enough that we could have rented the
house or flipped it easily. So for now, life goes on as normal.
