Ozwald- I had no idea you frequented this thread

Oh crap I did it too. Good morning everyone. Christmas was great but the better half and I had a knock down drag out regarding her analogs last night and her desire to have more than the allotted amount. Destroyed the evening. She was doing so good too and I feel it's all shot. I'm officially done being the cigarette guardian now though because it's just not worth the anger anymore. I really hate cigarettes now, more than I ever have. They are such a horrible creation and they are capable of warping peoples minds to believe whatever they need to believe to rationalize having one.
I'm ranting I know. It was a really really long night.

Don't be too hard on her or yourself for that matter. We all know that quitting is extremely hard to do and even more so when there is added stress factors whatever they may be. We are always being told it's the nicotine that is the addictive part, well I say BS, that's only a small part, there are other factors at work here, not only the nicotine but other factors as well, but the biggest is the psychological factor, we had programmed ourselves to smoke when stressed, when over excited, before and after meals, with coffee in the morning, after and some during the horizontal mambo (sorry) :p, holidays etc and just about everything else that happens in our everyday lives, the less pressure there is the easier it will be to make the transition IF there is a true desire to quit.

It took me a month maybe 5 weeks total to give them up entirely and the fact is that I at times did enjoy smoking but did not enjoy all the bad stuff that came with it and knew I needed to quit and nothing else worked and with all the other methods I had tried to force myself to do it, this was a mistake as it just added more pressure and stress in beating myself up over it. Once I started vaping I had a true desire to stop but it worked out on it's own in a sense that I didn't say, ok I am have X amount of cigarettes at this time of day or after this or that activity, at times when I had made a conscious decision to go outside to smoke, I grabbed the e-cig and took a few drags off of that and this worked well for me, I found I was smoking less and less each day and at the end of the month I still had 4 cigarettes left from the same 1 Pack of cigarettes I had for that entire month and at that point, I gave those away! For about 2 1/2 months after I would occasionally get the urge for a cigarette but would at that point start vaping and it helped ease that urge and after those 2 1/2 months I no longer had to urge to have another cigarette but decided to take a drag off of one to see where my head was at and found them to be totally and thoroughly disgusting to taste and smell and it took a good 1/2 hour to get the damn taste out of my mouth.

So, give yourself and your lady a break and some breathing room! :toast:

Enabling what? She was a smoker when you met her most likely. Smoking is still legal.
And you aren't buying her smokes.
She is an adult.
Sorry, but a husband should never teach a wife how to drive, or have total control
over something like this. The choice is hers.
Smoking analogs was the very one thing I had control over, no matter what happened.
And sometimes I smoked just to pi$$ people off (NOT my husband, he was never
on the wagon to get me to stop).

Agree 100% ... reflecting back I also sometimes looked at smoking as one of the ONLY things that I had that was totally mine.

Remember Cob24, it's her habit and she has to break it, as much as you'd like to be able to quit for her, you can't. I'd recommend giving her back her pack of cigarettes, tell her you love her whether she quits or not, and you are willing to be her cheerleader but not her cig supplier.
