morning allayas :)

vaping happily on my 12mg whipped cream this morning.. vehemently stating that global warming was a big fat lie -
tonight's low.. in Florida is projected to be 12.. TWELVE
I tarped over the well last night - but the tarp is far away from the well now.. big winds took it so.. I'm hoping it doesn't freeze up *fingers eyes and toes crossed
Later (even though there will be no warming up today) I'll put on a second pair of pants.. try to find some gloves and cement blocks and hopefully battle the tarp back over the water supply.. In the mean time.. Laundry! yep.. hard to freeze running water

hi Opal!

Im starting on my DIY journey and its a good thing Im a hoarder! I was digging in my dresser drawers and seen where I have saved nearly all my MBV bottles that I have washed out and about 10 30 ml and 10 15 ml glass bottles from a previous vendor before I discovered MBV.

I much rather use the glass bottles. Does anyone know of a good website to get some at a reasonable price? I would like to try to get some 50 ml glass bottles as well.

You know what, i quit smoking cigs and started vaping in April (oh, my counter will soon say 9 months!!!) and i have NEVER even tried a tobacco flavored vape. Is that normal for anyone else? I mean, i know i am far from normal, so i have been told!

My first half a dozen or so juice purchases were tobacco flavors, after a tank or two from each one I realized I was going to never equal the taste of my beloved Marlboros, so I gave up trying. I've since decided that there are just too many good (and fun) flavors out there, so now I'm breaking the bank trying to sample them all :vapor:

Ebay is by far your cheapest bet. just search for cobalt bottles (or amber, if you'd prefer) and pick your size. I looked at getting some from a variety of wholesalers that ship small quantities, and ebay still works out cheaper.

Verdict on the cotton - it definitely does need a bit of a breakin period in a bottom coil tank... much better now. I like it, but I don't know that I like it *vastly* better than silica, at least not in a tank. A good RBA will probably be a different story, I suspect.

Don't you silly Flordians start putting on heavy coats & stocking caps when it's 50 outside?

12 is t-shirt weather. Perhaps a long sleeve tee if there's a breeze. :D

LOL, yes and it's comical if your native to a colder climate.

It's cold and windy as all sin this morning though.

What kind of cotton are you using? Is it treated with HO? I don't use cotton because it tastes/works better than silica (but it does), I use it because for the cost of a few feet of silica, I can get enough cotton balls to last for generations to come. They're so cheap & relatively easy to find... even if you have to resort to the treated ones.

I'm finding this whole thing hilarious. The whole country is freaking out & doesn't know how to deal with what we consider normal for winter. -30? Hmm, guess I should put on a hoodie today. :D

Edit: But this isn't the 'civilized world'. Sorry Kelli, forgot to add that part for you ;)

Just some no-name unbleached ones I had kicking around (doublechecked the back of the bag to make sure it was untreated, and the bag was sealed, so I should be good there). The flavor hasn't changed, it just took a half hour or so for the cotton to expand enough to give me a nice smooth draw. Working like a champ now. I'll definitely use it again, just don't have strong feelings either way in this particular setup... other than cost, as you point out!

Good morning MBVers!
Vaping Hawk Sauce for the first time MAN IS IT GOOD. From the chatter on the MBV site it does not contain menthol but they add an "alcohol flavoring" of sekrit and it gives it that cool taste. ME LOVES HAWK SAUCE NOW!!!!

On Cotton...
I use it because it is easier to work with, you get to keep your coil and re-wick. That is important to me because building tiny coils with these boxing gloves is hard! I tried all the different kinds, with boiling and not boiling. Until I finally grasped the less is actually better thing I could not get the slight taste of cotton to go away. I no longer get the slight taste of cotton but use very little because it wicks so well and swells to fill the coil. I am currently using cotton that I picked my self and do not boil. I just pull the seeds out of it. :)
To quote PBusardo "I do not remember once having boiled a cigarette before smoking it." However if boiling is your thing then go for it!

On Pain, Pain sucks! I am but a spring chicken at 47. I started "pain management" at 30 for early onset degenerative arthritis. I got off of it after a year or two because I did not like feeling drugged up. I have reconsidered at this point and entered pain management again. 5 disks in the lower back collapsing, one set of vertebra actually starting to naturally fuse. Doc said if it were one or two they would do surgery but with that many in a row they medicate and wait for nature to take it's course. Cartilage in both knees is gone with partially detached ligaments but "your only 47, no surgery other that replacement will help, take your pain meds and get as close to 60 as you can stand then come see us". Pain just bites no matter what, I am finding that all the treatments for it suck as well. As my Wife's grandmother used to say "Getting older bites, but it sure does beat the alternative" :)

Pretending to work with Sticky Bun (Have not tried it yet), Lightspeed, Cinnamon Roll and Hawksauce in prefilled Protank 2s on the desk in front of me. :vapor:

The HO definitely leaves a slight taste, you can preboil them in distilled/RO, but I don't even bother. It's really not that big of a deal. Not sure what you're tasting though. I do make sure the wick is thoroughly saturated & fully expanded before I even fill the tank, not sure if that's got something to do with it.

Edit: and maybe how much you're using. I knew to use very, very little when I started with it. I used a very meager amount... and discovered later, that was still about 3x too much. I've taken a dozen or 2 wicks off this same cotton ball & it still looks the same size as when I pulled it out of the bag.
